Does Kentucky have the death penalty?

It's just hard for a reasonable person to fathom how someone can do this. One would think that if you get a DUI you sure as hell aren't going to be stepping into a vehicle anytime soon suspended license or not. To be drunk and driving to the point you don't realize that a bicycle is lodged into your windshield at 8am should be considered premeditation. As a taxpayer I'd gladly fork over the sum for the drugs in the needles....

Condolences to the family, everyone be safe out there.

I would recommend to not read the comments at all in the article unless you want to have a bad day... they're very infuriating.  I might even skip my workout today just 'cause I hate working out angry.

The only thing that was bright about that article is the long long list of charges he's under.  I'm sure he'll be put away for a very very long time.

God Bless... I send prayers for his family... anyone possible know any contact information for his wife? Sunni Carr I believe is her name.  Possible get something together and send a gift to her and his children as condolence.

Lead story on the papers site is that he plead not guilty to the charges even though he had the bike sticking out of his windshield and resisted arrest. The whole situation is infuriating, the only thing I'm happy to hear is that bail was set at $250k so this looser won't be out any time soon.

Chair, injection or firing squad, I'll be happy with any of the three.

They list the address of the other guy riding with him....someone should go pay him a visit too.  Pieces of crap, wish there would have been enough cyclists around to beat them to death with triathlete mob violence.  I have no sympathy for people that drink and drive.
It would have been nice if the officer would have shot him on the spot....afterall he reached for his service weapon which allows the officer to use deadly force.
Ahhhh! I am so pissed and saddened after reading this.  Damn it!

I saw this on Headline News yesterday.  Maybe it got enough press to where he'll get a legitimate sentence.

I also notice that there seems to be more accidents during tris this year than I remember from last year.  There was this incident in Louisville, there was one in Miami where the guy lived (but probably won't compete again), and I think I remember hearing of another triathlete killed during the bike on another race.  Not to mention all the people I know who've been struck while training.

I think we "triathletes" should try to get the major networks to report on triathletes/cyclists and the increasing dangers that are faced these days during training.  As this sport gets more popular, so does texting/cell phones while driving.  Bad combination.  Funny Sad thing is there are some people who think it's more wrong to ride a bike in the road than to text/talk on the phone/eat food/be drunk while driving.

My heart and prayers go out to this guy's family and friends.

JM, I know you're venting a little, but I hope non-triathletes don't read your comments.  It's exactly that type of comment that fuels the idiotic carp that people posted on the comments board for that article.  Just my $.02.

NO, I am venting and I am serious....if a drunk drive ever hit me or someone in my family, he/she will be safer in jail than walking free.  My .02 cents worth.
