I try to pay the least amount of attention to others as possible. I do see the guys who are lifting waaaaaaayyyy too much weight and have horrible form, that drives me batty as well. If you have to swim your body and use momentum to move the weight instead of your muscles... you're doing it wrong. While I try not to pay attention to others and just do my own thing I do have a story where I was probably a bit b!itchy. There was some chick at the gym, whom I had never seen there before, and she had some little dude with her, who was walking around like she owned the joint. I was almost done with my workout but I started watching her and she was totally rude. Other people were waiting for a machine, she would just jump in as soon as the person using it was done, cutting in front of people. She used weights that were too high for her, and bad form. She also primped quite offen. She was on the crunch machine and was holding the seat with her hands pulling down. I don't know how to tell you this, but if you use your arms it doesn't really work your abs. I was in a mood so I started following her. She'd do something. I get on the machine next (I did not cut in front of people), put more weight on it and do a few more reps than she did. After a couple times of this I could tell she was getting annoyed. Yes, I realize this was probably not the mature way to respond, but every now and then haven't you wanted to do it to? |

I like to mix it up to keep it from getting boring. I just try to make sure my workout is kind of even. If I work biceps, then I work triceps. If I work quads, then I work hamstrings. Like that. Tom - I hope you had a great time in AZ. I missed you. How is the running going? We've got I think about 6 1/2 weeks until our HM's. |

Started the morning off with an exhilarating 1 mile run - I know baby steps are important and this is not a bash to anyone just starting off running but it is a hard pill to swallow to run 1 mile. Oh well better than being on the couch right? Did an aquajog session last night as well. Might as well keep up with that while I am at the pool. Glad you are able to run a little bit. Coming back from injury can be frustrating. Keep taking those baby steps - it'll pay off in the end. |

GO NEAL GO! how many yards (average) are your individual training sessions? ive got 12 continuous mile swims to get in this month....can you be my PACE BOOTY.... what w yours hanging out! LOL. stacieb Last month I did 4 swims for 2500-3000yds and 1 swim of 1500 yds per week. It added up in a hurry. I'll be your pace booty as long as you can close your eyes. Believe me you'll need to with my white a$$ hanging out blinding you. that is some compound yardage, NEAL! WHOOP! and...im a keep my eyes open kinda of girl. so. white azz it is! unless theres a tanning booth nearby. stacieb speaking of WHITE AZZES...... where the HECK is TOM? stacieb Aww Stacie. We've got I think about 6 1/2 weeks until our HM's. sounds like a great plan ANN, and one that works for you. im w ya on the balance thing....i dont seperate out my ST ie legs one day upper body the next, but just try and switch back and forth w/in the workout, that way when one muscle group is 'resting' i can work the other group. that way the workout goes much faster. the machines that we have the Y are good for balancing your workouts, they are set up in pairs so that you do exactly what your describing, hamstrings on one machine, then the one that its paired with does quad, et al. nice job! stacieb |
