Subject: RE: ultrahip_00's Mentor Group - CLOSED - Let's hit the road/water!Hi everyone! I was part of Mike's group last year and I'm being allowed to come back. Sorry I'm late to the party. STORY: I'm Tim. I am a 38 year old, soon to be 39, from the San Francisco Bay Area. I work as a firefighter-paramedic in Santa Cruz, CA. I just completed my first year of Xterra triathlons. Last season, I also did a mix of endurance MTB races and trail run races. I hope to qualify for Xterra Nationals this year for both triathlon and trail running. My ultimate goal is to complete an Ironman when 40 and, one day, complete either the Western States 100 or Badwater endurance runs. FAMILY STATUS: Married with three boys (9, 6, and 3 ). My two oldest will do their first off-road duathlon January 23. All three ran a 1k race trail race last October. Amazingly, they RAN the whole 1k. So proud! CURRENT TRAINING: My main focus is running, running, and more running. My first marathon is fastly approaching in April. I try to fit my swimming and riding in as best as possible around this plan for now. I'm also working with a swim coach about once a month to improve technique. 2010 RACES: Lots of planned races. Most notable for me, Big Sur International Marathon, Skyline 50k trail run, and TBF HIM, and two 24 hour MTB endurance races. It will be a busy year! WEIGHTLOSS: No thanks. I'm already at a scronny 150 pounds. WHAT WILL MAKE ME A GOOD GROUP MEMBER: I have a pretty good technical knowledge of the triathlon disciplines, just wish I could implement them all. I'll also be able to bring some perspectives from off-road cycling and running to the group. I'm always present on the BT boards too! Beer, hmmmm, beer! |
