Busy weekend, although not much to show for it. Hip is still bothering me, so icing and resting continues. Grrrrr. I can get back on track for NYC, but it needs to heal soon. Had a small fatality at the house yesterday. Chipmunk (at least that's what I think it was) got into the air-conditioner unit. I was in the kitchen when this loud thumping started. I ran out and saw blood flying everywhere. Turned off the AC and the carnage ended. Not much left of whatever it was. Just a lot of blood. Gross. I don't really love chipmunks, but that was a nasty way to go. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!
What she said. YUCKO! |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September Good morning Ghoulies! Rain, heavy rain, thunderstorms, flooding. That is the forecast for this week. We won't have soccer practice tonight, and I'm not sure about Thursday yet. Depending on how wet the fields are I'm not even sure if we'll be able to play our first game on Saturday. My college classes started yesterday. WOW! I've taken classes before online, but the 3 courses I have are going to be more brutal than I was prepared for. For my Java programming class, just for the first week we have to read the first 2 chapters of the book, that is 120 pages. We also have to watch 5 videos, go to 9 different links he posted and read the content there, watch 2 PowerPoint presentations, participate in a class discussion, answer the questions at the end of the chapters, take a quiz, and write 2 programs. I spent most of my day yesterday doing that, and I am nowhere near being done. I'll spend this evening working on my other 2 classes. |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September Morning Ghoulies Kim, hope you didn't have to do any hands on clean up. Poor little critter. Ann, That is a bunch of work. But it is going to be worth it. Just don't overwhelm yourself so you won't want to finish it. Dee, How was the well deserved dessert? Nealindy- How was the weekend and the wedding? Hope you are having a blast on your vacation, Kendra. Amy, hope you figured out your running aches and pains. Other Ghoulies.... REPORT!!!
It is raining here, flooding and we had tornado warnings last night. Right here, though. Outside of the rain, we are doing okay. No power losses and it looks like no trees down.... yet.

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September ironannekidd - 2011-09-06 7:41 AM Robin, are parts of NC still in a drought? Unless there is a part in the middle that was missed by both recent hurricanes, I think we are over the drought. Though we are still behind for total rain for the year. On the high slopes here, the leaves have started to turn yellow and drop. Folks think it is an early fall rather than extreem drought. Hopefully that will stop now and we will have a normal fall (mid to late October it the usual for peak leaf color). |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September I'm here, Ann! Thanks for the shout out, Robin. I think I have it figured out, I will have to be a good girl and take my vitamins this week, and drink more than my share of water. And the relay this weekend will hurt, but i can handle it. |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September So I'm doing this running relay race this weekend, where the race covers 170 miles, and the team has 12 runners. You split into 2 vehicles/vans, and the vans rotate their 6 runners through a portion of the course, one runner at a time. Then the next van takes over and does the same thing. The race (I use the term race loosely...) starts Friday morning, and continues nonstop until sometime saturday afternoon/evening. I am in a van with 5 women and one man (who offered to wear a pink runing skirt, or a tutu, or a mong), so this should be interesting. We will have several hours here and there to stop and rest before we switch with the next van and start running again. Pne of the checkpoints will havw the windowsin the high school gym blacked out so we can try to sleep. Here's the question: if you were me, what would you bring with you in the van? comfort foods/items, entertainment (just in case I'm not entertained enough by my tutu wearing friend, lol)...be specific. |

I am not a big munchie person. I take mini- carrots for trips like that. This sounds fun fun fun. One day I'd like to to the Blue Ridge relay in these parts. I just need to hook up with a team. |

If it were me I'd take something salty and crunchy, but not greasy, unless you think your stomach could handle it. I'd take things like pretzels or pringles, maybe peanut butter crackers. Make sure you have lots of water, and sports drink. Depending on how far you are running maybe even a can or two of Coke. I'd also take something a little more substantial like a PB sandwhich, or if you have a cooler a ham and cheese sandwhich or something like that. You want calories, but you don't want something that is going to weigh you down. 4) If your iPhone is working put some games and music on that and take it along. You could also throw a cheap paperback book in your bag, too. 5) Take a pillow and blankie. 6) Fresh socks, body-glide, band-aids for blisters, dry shirt Motrin. Depending on whether you are running during the day, or during the night, you may want a short sleeved shirt, and a long sleeved shirt or a jacket. 7) A good attitude Have fun! |

I came in to a massive pile of email that needed reading and follow up. I did manage to get out early enough to meet some good friends for dinner. I ate a plate of sweet potato fries and am feeling a bit nauseous at the moment. I've been eating really healthy the last few months (and down 10lbs...yeah!) and that grease hit me like a truck. Am guessing I won't be sleeping well tonight. On the training front, my hip is giving me fits. It's the tensor fascia latae (Bill, is this what you had????) Am seeing the PT for ART on Thursday. I'm starting to really worry about whether I can get healthy and back on the training plan for NYC. Why won't my body cooperate with my ambitions?????? (I may need to make that my tag line.) |
