Subject: RE: Capital of Texas Triathlon - Olympic Course : Official ThreadFirst olympic distance is in the books. Really bizarre race -- my swim was shockingly fast, mostly because I couldn't see out my goggles and wasn't sure where I or my group was. When I cleared the steps for T1 and looked at my watch, I was sure I was going to get a penalty for missing a buoy or something. On the bike, my chain fell off twice, then I had a flat tire. Totally depressed, thinking I was done, but I happened to flat 100m from the repair tent just below the Capitol grounds. The run was hot as hell. I saw people walking the first half mile, my buddy DQ'ed because of a calf cramp, and I was hurting myself. I had to walk most of the exchange zones backwards on the second lap. All in all, it was a lot of fun, but I'd like to smooth things out next time. Swim slower, bike without a ten minute break in the middle, and run faster. |
