I was curious about sweating in the pool and found that people can sweat 1 lb/hr while swimming.  That's about a pint of sweat! 

Olympic size swimming pools do not concern me....hottubs OTOH is a different story as you have 1/100th the volume and 10x the containments.  Particularly discconcerting is when you find a condom by the hottub.....

I don't pee in the pool, I take care of that before I get in.

I saw a mouse swimming in the pool a week ago.  That kind of hardened me right there when it come to thinking about whats swirling around in pool.

*The mouse had a good doggy paddle tho. He was getting it with those little pink feet*

I think this is much ado about nothing.  Pee is mostly just water....and even the non water stuff is not gonna hurt ya.  Like someone posted earlier, what happens in restaurants will gross you out.  Weekend before last I was at an Alabama football game and watched a vendor handle money with his lilttle clear plastic gloves on and then turn right around and pick up a handful of fries to fill our order.  I just had to laugh.  I am not the swueemish type....even when I see a tampon in the bottom of the pool.

Of all the things, bodily fluids and such floating around in a public pool, pee is the least of my worries.  Try this one on: a few weeks ago I was swimming and somehow a long curly dark piece of hair ended up in my MOUTH.  Okay, I'm blonde so I know it wasn't mine.  That to me is worse than the dude next to me peeing.

Pee is no big deal.  You all should be much more worried about the long term effects of swimming in poisonous chlorine.

It should common knowledge that there are bodily fluids and other kinds of debris in all kinds of water we swim in.  I try not to dwell on it.  I just swim.

I must come from a civilized swimming back ground.   I don't pee in the pool.  Despite all the nasty stuff in the pool I don't need to add more.  Yes pee is sterile but that starts changing soon after it leaves the body. 

Well the theory is, there is cholorine in the water therefore there are no bacteria there.

I just found a poll on-line of 2,400 people and 84% admit they peed in public pools.

So all the righteous indignation seems disproportionate IMO.

I bet we could get th eother 16% to come around if they had to do a 400 Butterfly before they could get back in the pool.

Should we also add to this discussion that urine has a lot of ammonia in it and that when ammonia and chlorine are combined they out gas Chlorine Gas!  Yep nasty stuff that.  Even if the levels are so low that they don't liquify your lungs the reaction does cause the chlorine levels in the water to be depleted faster.
