. Incidentially - you guys ever use a tehter? I have a small pool - about 20ft long and a swim tether but I'm not sure how good it is to use or if there's any special benefits/ problems with using them to train. Thanks -Brian

i have never used a tehter, but i guess with a small pool it would work out ok...

So it's Tuesday. Looks like I will be doing some training for my running today. How about you guys?

Got my bike to wrist mount for my Garmin 305 yesterday. Now waiting on my bike and the Garmin 305. Taking much longer than I has anticipated.

Have a great day!!!

i have swam already, then i hope to get in about 30 mins of running...

here is a nice little tool you can use to map your runs/bikes...   BT uses the same thing when you put stuff into your log you click on "add new route" then you can map out your run/bike and you'll see how far you went... it's a great tool, i try to use it all the time

here is the website that i also use...    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

I use the Garmin Edge 305 - it tracks my runs and bikes, distance, maps them with elevation, HR, cadance, avg. speed, total speed, etc. etc. It's a great tool to have - Ican just go run/bike and I always know how far and where I've gone.

LOL - I just posted above then saw this. You'll love that 305, it makes traning so much easier, espically if you like to just run/bike aorund like I do. I just turn and go where I feel like and it keeps track.

Get used to using the auto shut-off, that's huge. Biking I hav eit stop at 5 mph and running at zero. Otherwise you hit a light or stop signa and forget to turn it off/on.

You could always run to the wedding!!

Are you a wedding photographer? I'm a third shooter for a very good friend and his wife when needed.

Hey guys, I'm back after some time away from the PC. Great to see a lot of chatter while I was gone. I raced this weekend, if you can call it a race. I was 16th out of 20 in my age group. It is killing me that I think I did too many laps on the bike route and added an extra 10 minutes onto my overall. I will have to check my Garmin as soon as I get home. My swim sucked, 740 m in 15:58! Ouch. My ride says that I was 30km/h but my bike computer said 40+ for the majority of the ride. Confussion says "pay attention at all times!" Good thing I signed up with you guys and coach klein! So one question! How do I win?!?!

I saw your race report Looks to me like you did great - I couldn't do a 7.2 minute mile or a hundred meters in under 2.5 minutes to save my life. Seems like you were racing with some fast people. And was 14 degrees right? Good lord man - i like it cold but 14 in May - oooofffff.

Us Canadians use Celsius up here, not warm enough to melt my igloo, but too warm to hunt baby seals so we start triathlons! Kidding
Thanks for the praise though, I felt good going through the race but was devastated to see I was 16th out of 20!

Chris just chalk it up to experience... i am guessing the bike were short loops, i don't think i've ever been to a race like that where i didn't hear some say they did to many laps or not enough.  Don't sweat the swim, just get back in the water and keep doing those laps and work on your form, swimming is all about form, you don't have perfect form right off the bat but once you start swimming and getting use to swimming, then start working on form.  Work on your form a little at a time until you get one thing down (example: keeping your head in the water) each time your form gets better your swim times will come down.

Now how do you win??  Go faster than everyone else.

So I had a good workout last night, but feeling a bit dead this morning. Even after a good night rest, hopefully will get better with day.

Tracking of my Garmin Forerunner 305 it should be delivered today. It arrived at the local post office this morning, I'm hoping it makes the route. Now amazon said it would be delivered the 29th, I really hope they don't hold onto that long.

Still no word on my bike. Going to be giving them a call today in hopes of getting some type of ETA.

Tonight, swimming. My goal is to get the 100 yards all crawl. Slow, relax... breathe...

Hope everyone is well.

Doh. I am so bummed. Just called the LBS and found out my bike won't even ship till June 30th.

Now I have some debating to do.

If you care to see.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

hmmmm...... I'm afraid to wait till June 30th, and find out then it will be July 15th or something like that and before you know it I won't have any time in the saddle before my August 25th goal.

Kevin, that really sucks about the bike! You are a patient man to have waited this long! I looked at the possiblities and would take one of those, that is a long time to wait. Hope you get a resulution sooner than later.

With the Garmin, I have a 301 and I love it! I've seen the 305 and it rocks! Very user friendly and fun to use, I have ever run / bike outing logged with notes on how the work out went and any other notes. You will love it I'm sure!

I'm going out on my first group bike ride this evening with the North Shore Tri Club. I joined them after my race with them over the weekend and am looking forward to working out with them. I'll keep updating with my progress, hope you guys are having a great week so far!

Thanks for the tips John, I will start breaking my swims down to the basics to fine tune. I'll let you know how it goes. If you never hear from me again...it did not go well at all...

If you are going away for the weekend, never mind sending me your number, can I get your address?

Have a good one,
Chris

Hey bug...

Not sure about your bike but did you get fitted first.. The bike shop I went to put me on a fit bike and then had me ride three bikes right then and there that would be right for me.. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. Thinking that i might be on this bike for many many hours it was worth the 75 buck i spent on the fit

this look like a good place...
http://neboridge.com/

and they sell the kona that i fell in love with as well as cannondale

http://bgindy.com/index.cfm

also has a good fitting system (the same that i used..)

Yeah. Cancelling that first order might have been a real good thing. Got me on more bikes today and I think I fell in love with the Giant OCR Alliance 1. Riding that around just made it feel right.

Baja, the LBS (BGI Indy like you linked) quick fitted me for the two bikes I rode there, and I will be buying the professional fitting with the bike if I go with that one.

The other bike I rode tonight was the '06 Trek 1500. While a nice bike, it just was a little to race situated I think for me. It has you hunched over much more, which is great for racing I'm sure though.

So comfort right off the bat, or something I may get accustomed to (but no assurances of it). Will it matter for what I'm doing, elite riding? :P

Thanks for your input and sympathy. But if I can get out of work early tomorrow I may have a bike and my first log of riding.

Side note. My Garmin 305 came in, and I have the bike to wrist mount all ready to go. I'm stoked.
