Buttercup 14334 | Subject: RE: Is Harry going to die? mattajw - 2007-06-27 11:22 AM Ok...I wish I saw this thread earliar. Isn't anyone curious who has been destroying the Horcrux's? I think it is Sirius Blacks brother. I am looking for this person whomever they are to have a major role in the book. Look for Harry and him to cross paths in the movie. Although Hogwarts may open do we really think Harry is going back? Remember he is no longer protected because he has come of age and has revenge on his mind. Oooh! Interesting theory. Isn't Regulus Black dead, though? We need that middle initial but, yeah, it is a very interesting theory. The note did say "by the time you read this I will be long dead" or something like that. Maybe one of the horcruxes (horcri?) is in the Black home? Edit: I just read this tidbit in Wikipedia:

It said that Harry can't die because it would kill off future revenue streams. WHo is going to go see the last 3 movies if everyone knows Harry dies in the last movie? Also, you aren't going to keep selling the merchanidise if the lead guy is dead, right?
Also to answer what I think on some of the Theories....Voldemort is definitly dead and not coming back except when harry sees him in the pensieve...that is where he will discover why Harry trusted Snape and why snape is really on Harry's side. This will be the only time we see harry at Hogwarts. Edited by mattajw 2007-06-27 11:10 AM |

R.A.B. - Could this be a Monogram....with R being the first initial of the first name, A being the first initial of the last name and B the first initial of the middle name? |

I think I remember Sirius saying something about how he was killed by one of Voldemort's men ("not important enough" to be killed by Voldemort himself). Maybe one of the horcruxes (horcri?) is in the Black home? I think this is plausible. I remember wondering about the goblet with the Black family crest on it. Oh, and it's horcruces, from the Latin: crux singular, cruces plural. |

Also, we don't know what Dumbledore en tableau will reveal to Remember when they were cleaning out the Black household. There was a locket that they couldn't open (was reminded of this in Wikipedia). Did Mundungus steal the locket? Isn't he in prison? He escaped when Harry discovered he has stolen Black heirlooms. Dang - I just finished rereading the book and forgot this detail already. Also suggests that Harry has mastered non-verbal spells as well. I think you mean wandless spells. If I remember correctly, the non-verbal spells they were learning in book six still required wands. |

I like this theory. Good call. Guess I'm just full of good theories today. I am rereading with my son (we take turns stealing whichever book we're on from each other) and we just finished Chamber of Secrets. There are two things I've come across so far that I felt really supported the idea of Harry as the Horcrux - First, when he first "meets" Tom Riddle in the diary's memory, he feels a pull towards him - like he's somebody who he knew a long time ago. Could it be that the two pieces of Voldemort's soul "knew" each other? Second, Dumbledore states that "to a well-ordered mind, death is just the next big adventure." I think that is a great pointer towards where the series is headed eventually. Of course, it could just be pointing at Dumbledore's readiness for death... not sure. |

Expert 929 Hawaii | Subject: RE: Is Harry going to die? puellasolis - 2007-06-27 10:37 AM Sirius initially said that his brother was killed by Voldemort. He than went on to say that it was more likely that his brother was killed by a death eater because he wasn't important enough. So, it's still unclear. Sirius wasn't in contact with his family. He wouldn't have known much about his brother's life. My vote for RAB is Regulus. Also, if Regulus was the one trying to destroy the horcuxes, more of them (like the locket) could be stored at Grimmauld (sp?) Place. That would make destroying them easier (and quicker) so Harry has more time to fight Voldemort.Oooh! Interesting theory. Isn't Regulus Black dead, though? Buttercup 14334 | Subject: RE: Is Harry going to die? I think that both are possible - Regulus is dead AND he took the locket. The now-missing locket that they couldn't open when they were cleaning the House of Black. Recall that the way they proved Harry was the true and legal owner of 12 Grimmauld was by having Harry successfully summon Kreacher. Only the true owner could command Kreacher. If Regulus were still alive, Harry would not have been able to command Kreacher. Given his initials RB and the unopen-able locket, I think Regulus is a very good guess. The 6 (or 7) horcruces:
Could the 5th item be Gryffindor's sword which hangs in the headmaster's office? It was mentioned but not used several times in the 6th book. Would that be too easy? Wonder who will destroy Nagini... |

First, I have to say that this is the only book that I’ve read only once, so I’m not sure how accurately I’m remembering this scene. But my initial thought during this scene was that Snape’s reaction was too strong. If he were really a Death Eater, I think that he would have just scoffed at Harry. He wouldn’t have been so infuriated. Assuming that Snape is good, killing Dumbledore would have been extremely painful. Harry accusing him of cowardice would have only added salt to the wound. Trust Snape! |

Could a horcrux be a building? What if it were Hogwarts? I mean, all of the horcruces don’t mean jack to Harry. He wouldn’t have any problems (emotionally) destroying them. It would be more interesting if Harry had to destroy something that means a lot to him. The book shows that both Riddle and Harry had strong attachments to Hogwarts. But that could too much. Destroying Hogwarts would be destroying an icon…a stabilizing place for so many people. I want Fawkes to destroy Nagini. It would be an awesome scene. |

The Harry Potter Cover that I saw in a Chapters advertisement shows Harry, Ron, Hermione and a bunch of coins/treasure. There are actually three different covers. I'm not sure why three different covers are needed. The top cover is the US cover. The middle is the UK adult version, and the one on the bottom is the UK children's version.

Expert 929 Hawaii | Subject: RE: Is Harry going to die? Does anyone else find it odd that Malfoy did not get in trouble for trying to use one of the unforgivable curses against Harry during the Sectumsempra incident? I'm thinking this is even more proof that Snape is "good", and Dumbledore knew he was going to die at the end of the book. They didn't want to distract Draco from his task. I'm still curious about Fawkes' role in the next book. Will he return? He had such a close tie to Dumbledore, it seems like great way for Dumbledore to sort of be around during the last book. I really want Hogwarts to re-open. Does anyone remember if there was mention of it closing during the last Voldemort war? I don't think that it did. I'm getting really excited about the last book. People around me are getting a little fed up with all my Harry Potter chatter. |
