Sorry been too busy running :D

I'm on track, will probably overshoot my target after a couple 38-40mile weeks.

Subject: Chicago Marathon
I'm alive!!!!!!!!

Finished the complete Chicago Marathon, and met every single one of my goals (Get in a long run / finish the race / finish under 5 hrs). In spite of the 90+ degree heat. Started off slow because of my injury and that actually saved me. Middle miles, when everyone melted, I walked alot. I mean ALOT!!! But then from mile 20 on, when the police were telling everyone the race was cancelled and walk it in, I actually felt a second wind. I thought those miles would be the tough ones, but instead I was able to put in a fair amount of running - would run for a few minutes, then stop, drink or douse my head with water, walk a little, then start up again. And...I finished in under 5 hrs, which I questioned even on a decent weather day. So, I'm psyched. Now, it's on to training for NYC and based on this, I think I got a sub 4 in me.

So, add in 26.2 to my week 1 total! (total=39.2)

Okay monsters...now that we have lulled all the other teams into a false sense of security, lets get out there and hit our goals!

How's the running/walking/crawling going for everyone?

I got a blister on my foot today! Giving that always happens when I get a new pair of shoes, even if it is the 3rd or 4th pair of the same shoe this year.

Run till all you have are beaten balls of flesh for feet! (well maybe not that far)

Coming from behind is always much more fun than leading from wire to wire, so I'm fired up about the week 1 results.  Let's get to it!

I'm back! Man I hate being sick. I haven't ran in a week. It sure felt good to get back out there again today. I'm ready for my half mary this sunday. Let's go Monsters. Best part about being at the back of the pack is when you pass people and watch them cry! Let's Mash the competition!

With this morning's run, I am at about the 39% mark for completion!   Let's see, that means that I need to run ~19 more miles.  With 2 1/2 weeks left that leaves me running 1 mile per day! I think I'll stick with trying to get in 3 miles a day 2x a week.  That would be cutting it close but I can pull it off!

Smilford.  Blisters suck, hope that yours are doing better.
Mtskibum: Glad that you are feeling better and enjoying running again!
BAMBAM: way to go on %edge of your goal completed.  You're totally going to hit your goal.
Mixie: Congrats on your second ever 20 mile week!  How's it feel?  Hope that you're proud.

Agreed!  Go Monsters!  Let's start mashing the other teams.  Okay, time to bust out the song:

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

Davealt - thanks for providing the inspire messages.

Ran another 5+ today. Feeling pretty good in my marathon-recovery week. Just very tired in the evening. I think I'm about 1/3 of the way to my challenge goal, which is probably ahead of the game, because I got a few long runs coming up. In spite of all the negative chatter about the Chicago marathon, I'm starting to get the pre-race nerves for NYC. I'm looking forward to that!!! Just gotta pray those hills don't get to me.

Hope everyone else is on pace. We are a quiet forum, aren't we ?

Its too cold and rainy this weekend.  Make sure y'all stay out of that weather and logging miles.  And treadmills?  Blech!  Take it nice and easy.  You deserve it.  No, really, you do.

Love,

A concerned BTer not in the challenge on a team that might be competing against you.

A bit different than Chicago last weekend - almost 60 degrees cooler!

Knee was feeling better yesterday so I thought I'd go for a run today.  Last night I drive my oldest son's car and found out that my knee was still not completely healed (he has a manual transmission).  Thought I'd do a quick walk on the XC route.  Started out at a quick pace but backed off when the knee started complaining!  Still counted it as a run though!
