skarl - 2007-11-27 4:47 PM Yes that makes sense!  Cool!!  Thanks so much for this challenge -- I've been wanting to do one and this will make me swim.  I've been feeling guilty about avoiding The Swim.  So then I'll be guilt-free too -- double bonus!

Sounds like the timing works for you then! The challenge teams are really supportive and a lot of fun... I can put you with some people new-ish to the sport if you would be more comfortable?

I almost always have at least one newbie team for the challenges....

I'm in! I'll sign up for 5 hours of swimming training (sorry, no distance goals yet!). I'll be done by the 24th because of pool closures.

Any time is a good time. Hard Core Trip Corps have been great this month, so very happy to go with any of them. I can chat a bit, but time differences do make it a bit tricky so better to avoid the 8k post groups

OK Yanti, of course I want to be on your team to pull you out of the post marathon madness...You pull me through the stinko days at wok so it's only fair

Goal somewhere between 26,000 and 28,000 yards (conservative goal is the 26,000)

Cut stroke count to 19 consistently

Make my legs KICK more--all compliments of Coach Bret this morning

I'm in...my goal (in yards):

14950

Also, since Donto was my BT "mentor" when I started this insanity at the beginning of the year, I'd like to make him proud...if possible to place me on his team, it would be appreciated...thanks.

I'm in.  I know that the pool will be closed over the holiday here at the campus, so I will have to work extra hard in the first 2-1/2 to 3 weeks.

My goal - 10,000 yards (originally I was thinking 7200 - 3 sessions each week at min. 600 yards).  This will be a BIG challenge for me, being somewhat of a non-swimmer, ya know, hey dere.

I can't wait!!!!

Okay, I'm pledging 24,000 yards. That's about 3 times a week for about an hour a session- I can knock out 2,000 yards in an hour. I should be upping my yardage, but I haven't swam in awhile, so we'll just go for frequency, for the most part. Might do some longer swims if frequency gets crunched.

Ohh yay I'm in!

However, I'm only good for the first 2 weeks - having knee surgery on Dec 14th and will have to be out of the pool for probably at least 3 weeks after that.

Sooo...I'm going to set my goal safely at 10,000 yards.

I made up my mind on yardage.  I am going to shoot for 10,000 yards.  Did you say we could increase our goal if we wanted to during the first 3 weeks?  I really need to get better at this swimming thing!

Okay, I'm in for my first challenge! I have designated this My Winter Of The Swim, so I need this to get off on the right foot (or should I say stroke?)! Put me down for 15,000 yards.

Can't wait to meet my teammates!

I really need to spend a lot of time in the pool. If I follow my plan it has me doing over 50,000yds in the month... I've never done over 13000. So... I'm going to set a goal of 20,000. I guess If I find I'm following the plan as well as I should I can bump up the goal.

Put me down for 20,000 meters!

I have never done a challenge like this online before. I would love to participate. Very new at the swimming thing, so I don' t really know how to set a goal. Lets say around 10,000. I think I can do that.

So how does the whole "challenge" thing work? How do the teams get decided?

Thanks for having patience with the newbies

The challenges are WAY fun!!!   I am doing my first challenge this month.  Super Cat from Oz will organize who goes into which team.  All you need to do is keep track of of your workouts on BT and keep up with the forum threads.  BTW....each team will have its own thread so you can talk to everyone on your team.  Some teams chat A LOT!!!!  They train A LOT, too!!!   Good luck with your training!  Cheers!

wemoon - 2007-11-27 1:08 PM I want in! I can do an amount of time rather than yards... correct? I'm still very much a beginner swimmer and have no concept of yards yet.

Hey... Im sure we can accomodate that... let me know what your goal is and I will check with Donto who is doing all the spreadsheets for the challenge

Yes time is acceptable, minutes or hours works.

LOL - I just learned my evil ways from Dee - she's the original!

I think not....

All I know, I learned from my mentor, Evil Beth......

She's so evil that she's even blaming me for being evil..... (or something like that).

As this will be my 1st BT challenge I'm fine with any team.  Sign me up tentatively for 30,000 yards - I may revise this on Thursday after my ortho appt to assess the healing of my stress fracture.
