D001 - 2008-04-09 9:17 PM Remember how I fell on my high-speed stationary bike like 2 months ago? I jammed my finger on the handlebars -- which was preferable to landing on my head, or knocking out several teeth... But now I'm thinking that I may have actually broken the finger. 'Cause it still hurts, and it's starting to look, um... well, it's not straight. And there's a deformed looking bump on it, and I can't bend the joint well. So the question is... At this point, can anyone do anything? I really do NOT want to go to a doctor and hear that they need to rebreak it and set it. Maybe you dislocated it? You should get it checked out. If you can't bend the joint, that's just going to get worse. |

Artemis - 2008-04-09 9:16 PM D001 - 2008-04-09 8:58 PM Artemis - 2008-04-09 8:36 PM Can you do something other than run? It would at least keep you in shape - even if it's not running shape.... How are biking and swimming? barqhead - 2008-04-09 8:16 PM Artemis - 2008-04-09 8:10 PM Yes. My CT was clear, so there isn't anything worse wrong with me. No hernia on the CT, but that happens a lot. She said I should go see a surgeon, so I have an appointment with one on Tuesday. That's good. So no appendix or gallbladder stuff. Did she clear you for running? Or do you need to consult the surgeon first? I actually don't have an appendix or I would have gone to the doctor awhile ago. She said I could run if I really wanted to, but it will hurt and might make something worse. I don't even want to run right now. It hurts to much. That's what I'm doing. No running, but swimming and biking when I'm not too worn out. Well, you'll be seeing the doctor next week, at least. Less than a week away... |

Im sitting here right now with a hot water bottle on it and popping ibuprofen... Or maybe some light stretching... And abdominal work....??? Strengthening the opposing muscles (ie: abs) can help protect the back. (Now, if only I ever took my own advice....)
Im hoping I might manage some easy training next week... maybe weights work on machines to make sure i have back support... thats what Im thinking... I used to have great core strngth... its pretty crap at the moment which is possibly the issue! I used to have good core strenght. But that was 10+ years ago. LOL. I'm trying to find it again. x2. Except that I've given up trying to find it again. LOL |

Cat's back is better. I have an appointment with a surgeon next week. Just a consult for right now. I'm hoping they'll help decide if we're going to try to operate based on the symptoms even though we didn't see anything on the CT. At this point, I'm pretty willing to take the risk because the pain is really bad and I can't train. |

(Good thing he can't repeat them. LOL) For awhile, it was getting better. Now though, it's looking lumpy and bumpy and crooked. And it's starting to bother me. (Especially when I try to either straighten it out completely or bend it. Which of course, makes me try to straighten and bend it even more -- because I keep thinking that it's not supposed to hurt!) So I may have dislocated it? Hm. Hadn't thought about that possibility... Hm. |
