Hope everyones rides and runs went well. I got the chance to see some of you out there and plenty of others as well and everyone was looking good and ready for IM. My parents had an absolute blast watching and helping with water and what not. I think they are more excited about the race then I am. Have a great taper, get plenty of rest and I will see you all in less then 20 days! My wife and I stopped for a water and quick chat with your Dad outside Mt. Horeb. The ice cold water was very much appreciated! Tell him thanks again. |

I had a reasonably portioned, excellent dinner that digested well so I was rid of it early Saturday morning even though we didn't meet there until 7 pm. I think we should get a group of whoever together on the 11th to have an earlier dinner there, maybe around 5 pm so we can turn in earlier. Heck, we could reserve the whole restaurant maybe! Think about it and let's get a list together and call them in the next two weeks. Unless I am missing something that normally happens on Saturday before IM. If so, let me know! Before we left, I made reservations for the 11th for my crew at Bucatini's. So, I'll be there with 11 or 12 others from Kansas! I originally made our reservation for 5 p.m. but I'm going to have to move it back a little since my sister and her family won't get into town till 5:30 or so. But stop by and say "hi" if you are there and see my crew THANKS again to Ben's parents for the water on Saturday - what good people. We really appreciated it. Nice to meet those that I did... this site and this sport never cease to amaze me. I love the camraderie and insta-friends you make through BT and triathlon... it's truly amazing. Happy taper, friends. |

Correct, but the weigh-in volunteer writes the weight down. Part of registration is getting weighed in, and the participant's weight is recorded and written down on the participant's race number (I believe on the back) by the volunteer. I know two BT'ers/Donkai members that had a substantial weightloss last year and were pulled off the bike course. |

Veteran 249 | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Curious what everyone's thoughts are on this... I currently have a room at the Hyatt Place in Madison from Friday to Monday race weekend. Would it be worth it to stay at the Hilton Monona Terrace for an extra $70 per night? The Hyatt Place is about .6 miles from the Hilton. Does the convenience of being right at transition and the conference center outweigh the benefits of the Hyatt Place (newer and nicer rooms and $200 or so cheaper for the 3 nights)? If you have the cash and there is room at the hotel, I would do it. Would make it really easy to get your bike checked in on Saturday. The Hilton is very nice. I've stayed both on property and off property for races and prefer staying at the host hotel.... |

However, I just checked a few minutes ago and now it is not available. I guess wont be switching hotels anymore. |

Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Apparently there is some new construction on the loop. Got this from a friend this morning: For all planning on riding the IM loop in the near future - I rode it on Tuesday and HWY 92 going into Mt. Horeb was impassable by Messerschmidt Road due to crews replacing a culvert (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3990858). Not sure how long that will take but there are also several other areas marked for replacements as well between G and Messerschmidt. So, be prepared to make a detour on 92 and add on some miles. |
