Good morning (or afternoon) to all you Ghoulies.

For those battling the winter weather:  take care and stay safe!  And manage to have some fun!  ... perhaps snow biking, watching movies, curling up by the fire!  So sorry for all those that have to get out in the weather in order to just go to work!  ;(

Out here, we are having really cold weather for us ... teens F... but it is dry and sunny so far.  They say freezing rain may come in tomorrow.  Hope not, I plan to drive to Seattle tomorrow (about 3 hours away.)

Did anyone read the new article about "Yes I did It"?  It's a fun little recap of this guy's first tri.

I sure am looking forward to actually attempting a tri event.  In February there is one where the swim is in a pool, the bike is indoors and the run is outside.  I just don't know if I will be quite up to the bike distance by then.  I sure am having trouble getting enough time in on the stationary bike  ... too boring!  And I am too much of a wimp to ride outside in the dark and cold.  ;(      .... not being as crazy as Bill.

wgraves7582 - 2009-12-10 7:51 AM So I am going to give anyone here who is interested in it a Lake Effect Snow lesson.

I live in the southtowns of Buffalo and work downtown.

I tried getting a picture of our local weather radar but it would not work so use 14170 as a zip and you can see how the line is south of downtown and extends south towards the PA state line.

My daughter took that picture 2 hours ago at our house (9:00am) - I left at 6:15 and there was not a drop of snow to be seen.

Pretty cool huh?

WOW!!  Two inches of snow here and most everything grinds to a halt!!  I can't believe that you go on to work in that or at least don't get to head right home!

Nah it is easier at work Cool

I could have used it for a day off but would have had to take vacation and come in before I leave Sunday to get all of my travel stuff together so I left early, missed all the traffic, and came into work for a while.

Snow play day later and tomorrow and Saturday.  Yes!!!!

That sounds fun!  Enjoy!

I can ski out my back door through the woods or I can head down to the county park where they have a loop or hiking trail to off trail ski on.  I love going down there and disappearing into the woods for 2-3 hours a day during the winter.  Very surreal!

Oh that sounds so wonderful!   I miss skiing.  We don't get enough snow here unless I drive up to the mountains (2-3 hours away).  Unfortunately, that rarely happens.  DH doesn't like skiing.  However, he does like snowshoeing... so maybe .....

A co-worker was supposed to leave at 11:30 and he didn't because it is snowing.  Ummm, it is going to be snowing from now until Friday evening.  Where you sleeping tonight buddy?

I have never been fortunate enough to work close to home. Right now my commute is 28 miles, it was 34 to my last job. I always carry a bag in my car in the winter with some toiletries and a change of clothes, plus I carry a blanket in my car. I also have friends that live nearby and have been offered places to stay. I could stay at work if I had to, but I'd rather not.

I am around 20 miles I guess I could always just walk/run home - I usually have my gym bag and running shoes with me

I used to have a plow business and I went out one night to do a commercial account for the morning.  I did not dress appropriately - sweat pants and sweat shirt.  Finished the job and on the way home my truck broke down - brrrrr.  I didn't even grab my cell phone to think of it.

Ran to the local 7-11 and called the wife from there.  Won't make that mistake again!

And do you have cold weather gear in that gym bag of yours? I'm thinking 20 miles in shorts and a t-shirt would not be  enjoyable.

Warm clothes, warm is good!!!

I usually have some sweat type clothes to throw on after the Y.  I would probably not do such a dumb thing - maybe I will throw some extra cold stuff in a bag and keep it in the trunk - along with my snowshoes and skis

I don't even have a response to this.
