I hate 2010.

Its only just started... maybe its just getting the bad stuff out of the way first?

I really hope so.  Every day it's something.  Today I found out my mom is losing her job next month.

Oh Im sorry Jen - thats so stressful!

Pretty much.  It's getting to be kind of a lot to deal with.

Hows your mum coping?

She's pretty upset.  Her union is trying to fight it, but it might not help anything.

Aaw thats really tough - good thing she has a union to help her out! Hopefully she can find something else otherwise

She has a few leads.  The biggest problem is that she is going to lose her (very good) insurance along with the job so they have to figure something out.  Plus, she is hoping to find another job with insurance, which can be tough.

I must confess i dont know how all that works - we dont generally have that kind of thing wrapped into our jobs here, so any insurance etc is all personal here. (there are a few exceptions but it tends to be for executives in international companies with international policies - not something Ive come across)

Thats good if she has a few leads... means she knows there are other things out there!

Hi Phil!

It makes me wish that we didn't have to worry about it here.  It is very frustrating.  It means they may have to switch doctors, which is not what my dad needs right now because he has to have his thyroid cancer really closely monitored and possibly another surgery.

It's just a lot for them to deal with.

Im amazed how many people havent had it as children!

Bizarre.  I wonder how many people will get it as adults in the future.  They are immunizing almost all kids, but that won't last forever.

Jen, sorry to hear about your mothers job situation and thus possible insurance issues.  Hope that she finds something quickly with insurance.

Hello Nibbs and Happy New Year.

Went to California to visit my daughter and grandkids.  Caught a cold from the plane and just as I was leaving CA, two of the grandkids started sneezing.  I'm really hoping that I did not get all 4 of them sick.  That would be awful for my daughter.

My son-in-law goes to Saudi Arabia the end of January for a year and my daughter will basically be a single mother with 4 kids for that year.  It is going to be tough.  And hard for us to help from 3000 miles away.

Yeah i think they are immunising here too... just those of us who are adults already I guess have either had it or are in danger...

I know the doc said to me if I ever get shingles to go straight to the hospital... something to do with the immune system and my tummy condition...

I dont think contact with someone who has the active virus would be enough to reactivate it though... Ive done some google searching and doesnt seem to be a link
