Not really intentionally keeping mum - I could only access internet by phone until Monday (cause I just couldn't get to the puter) and when I did - well, it was hard to post anything so I just read. The last two days have been busy at work and I've finally caught up on reading the posts - thank you for the well wishes - it has helped! I am feeling great today! (actually just had a flash back to Monty Python - "Bring out your dead!" "Here's one" "Nine pence" "I'm not dead" "what's that?" "oh, nothing carry on" "he says he's not dead" "he will be any minute now" "I feel happy! I feel happy!" "can you help us out here?" "whooomp" "aw, thanks" I have some medicine and lots of stretching to do. It is working. I am "almost" pain free. No twisting for me yet - and I don't think I want to do any pounding - but I am just itching to do some sort of workout. I may try the elliptical tomorrow just to get a good sweat on and maybe the recumbant bike. It figures it warms up to 30 and I am afraid to go pound the pavement ![]() What in the world are "rollers"? The 'trainer' - is that just your bike set up in some kind of frame so you can ride indoors -- aka exercise bike like at the gym? Finally - this ironman thing - how long do we have to complete it? I am far behind.... Thank you all - happy training and I will hope to check in tomorrow. |

Longest run for me since I injured the leg and so far so good - leg feels fine. Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ahh rollers,,, I'm really starting to like mine, I was able to get on the aero bars for a quick 20-30 sec before I"d start to wobble a bit then get nervous.. It's a long way from the aero bars to the doorframe that I"m in. while I have a trainer that I've used the last couple of winter months, like bopper said you have to balence so you are getting some core training, smoothing out your pedel stroke, and if you go to slow you fall.. |

I Feel GREAT after the workout. Little tight in the back - but can bend over and tie my shoes (couldn't do that 2 days ago). The size of the perceived knot has also shrank and varies from golf ball to baseball size. Was a solid softball size feeling earlier in the week. Life is good. |

Let me just say that its pretty hard to go from a well fitted P2 to an ill fitted 23 year old steel Bianchi! Mucho effort......NO SPEED!!!! |

Funny you should ask Helen - I thought about the same thing as I was posting earlier today and actually made a note to myself to bring the camera. I know the area very well, actually considered doing the Dances With Dirt event in the Green Swamp in a few months, but after the leg injury I ruled that out. Its classic Florida terrain and I am really looking forward to it. On another note - went to my first local runners club meeting tonight and met a lot of the faces I pass at 5am in the morning around the lake. Many of them did the Disney marathon this past weekend (complaining about the cold weather) and the couple that were sitting next to me are doing St Anthony's in April which will be my first Olympic tri. Had fun and off to bed - tomorrow is a day off before my ride on Sat |

I am glad you are feeling better....... aw, thanks man -you guys are the best! After 2-3 days of almost no improvement, I am so very happy to be where I am now - and that is almost pain free. Either I have a little "Wolverine" in me or it's good drugs. I hope it isn't the drugs. I'm almost out. ![]() I do enjoy reading these threads - you all keep using words and phrases I've never heard before and I do what I can to figure them out. For months I thought "rollers" was an ab exercise - you know - a wheel on a stick where you kneel on the floor and roll the stick thing back and forth. Humph. Who knew it involved riding a bike? (I know- you guys) Even though my run training has been interrupted - I think I am going to do a 10 K on 2/6. The race has 5/10/15 options and I've never run that far (in a race, once in training) I am afraid if I sign up for the 5 I'll do what I always do and go all out. I know I'll go slower with double the distance. Oh- and another thing - picked up my shirt from the NYE run - it is a long sleeve technical shirt - and it is really cool. First technical I've gotten in a race - well worth the $18 registration fee!. (this was a 5K that was cut short by .3 due to icy stretch - so I have a REALLY good "5K" time - that I will probably never beat! Well, believe I'll finish this beer and try to figure out the rest of my race calendar. Cheers everyone and sorry for the long post. |
