I dated both.

I have been going to this one for 30 years. I am not a great customer but they know my name.

They have become snotty and they quoted a price of 217 - 250 dollars and just told me that the bike would now cost 350 and they are not done yet (It has been there since Sunday) My car was fixed in a day. C'mon a new fork is not that difficult.

When I told them I needed new shifters because I was having difficulty shifting, the guy looked at me and said "are you trying?"

I didn't feel the need to explain that I have nerve damage and arthritis. I just asked for grip shifters to be installed.

Gee, WOW.. you mean I am supposed to push that little lever there.. that would DO something? Who knew?

Uh yeah. I understand having nerve damage and arthrits. If my LBS talked to me like that I'd be finding another shop, too.

Also, when I brought my bike in the first thing they said, with a snarky laugh, was

Well, yea its old. I don't change bikes every year. (I know, I am odd that way- it is probably a disease).

My car is 14 years old, too. What is the deal? These are the highlights from this visit. I was the same way when I bought my new bike from them last time. I thought I would give them another shot. I purchase all my bikes and gear from them. My DH is more of a biker than I. He purchases everything there too. My DD and DS do as well.

There is just no excuse for snarky comments towards a customer. Do you know the owner or manager? Let them know that this is how you've been treated and why you won't be back.

I would have understood that, except evidently he just "misquoted" me the price of the fork. yah, right. It is not so much the $ as the attitude and the delay. When I pick it up I am going to ask them if that extra 100 dollars was worth losing me (and my big mouth) as a customer?

I mean my first fiancee worked for them years ago. I have helped them volunteer with the races they sponsor. I was sold out for 100 dollars. I feel cheap.

I need to update the spreadsheet and my training log with my pushups. I've done 25 more this week, so I'm over 100%

I'll update my running miles Sunday evening. 

Sometimes these guys can't get out of their own way. The guy that looked at my bike last night is going to buy a close-out at lbs that is a decent price, but it is a 2009 and has lower quality components and wheels than mine. The guy at lbs knows my bike (he does my fittings) and told the guy he was getting a better deal with the closeout. Not really true, but whatever. For him, it is a good deal and I told him he should buy it rather than mine. He's done one tri and thinks he wants to do 2 this year. That bike is more than he needs. That said, if he'd bought mine I would have been in said lbs buying something more than I should, not on closeout, and making the lbs far more $$$$.  I intend to roll the logic out to said lbs guy next time I see him.
