ironannekidd - 2010-12-14 11:31 AM Here's a question for you, Amy.

I have 2 kids. My son is 10, my daughter is 7. In my mind I was done Christmas shopping for the kids. Last night I asked them what the top 3 items were on their wishlists. I've asked before, but I wanted to be sure.

My daughter tells me her wishlist, ok, I've got her covered.

My son tells me his wishlist. I have nothing for him from his wishlist.

Do I buy one more thing for each of them, or do I just let it go because I know he is already getting some pretty cool gifts?

That's tough. Does he still believe in Santa? And how easy is he to please? It depends on how disappointed he's going to be. If he's the type of kid that jst rolls with it, I'd say you're good. If not, you better get one more thing. Or Santa better, depending on the answer to my first question.

Last July he asked me about Santa, so he knows. He's pretty easy going. He is already getting a Nintendo DS, a starter kit for the DS,a new DS game, 2 games for the Wii, Harry Potter Lego's, a BB gun, a camping light with a headlamp, too, and a new book by an author he likes. Plus a few little stocking stuffers.

I spent a lot of money on the kid. He thought he was getting the DS, but now he doesn't think that he is. The DS used to be on his list, so I'm hoping he'll be happy with that. He has a DS, but it is in pretty rough shape. He asked for a book with cheat codes to video games and I will not get him that. I have always told him that if he can't beat the game fair and square then he isn't beating the game.

So I hired a coach a couple months ago. Hes a guy in my tri club that does a little coaching on the side. He doe it more for funthan anything. At one point in time he was poised to get his UAT coaching certs, but opted not to for several reasons. So I got him to write a half mary plan for me, and he's going to write a half iron plan for me after Carlsbad. he almost didn't take me on as a trainee because of my a-fib and some recent achilles issues. I'm really not that complicated, I just need someone to say kay, you're off the plan a little, let's tweak the run on tuesday to aquajogging, then subtract the run on wed but add in yoga instead" or whatever.

I am under strict instructions to not injure myself any further doing Carlsbad. I have been told that at the first sign of discomfort I am to walk. And if there is any pain, or the discomfort isn't gone with walking, I am to have my cell phone with me and call for SAG support. So, yep. I will have my cell, and I might be calling  Ann and Kim to come get me somewhere along the route.

This is all assuming, of course, that hubby decides to book the flight to San Diego sometime in the near future, LOL.

It's funny how different they are just based on gender, huh? Mine are the same way. Although it does help that my daughter is a teenager. Clothes, makeup, and jewelry is where it's at. Assuming the cell phone is considered jewelry.

For some reason my son thought he was getting a phone. He told my husband one night he was getting one for Christmas. When my husband asked me about it I said there was no way I was getting a 10 year old a cell phone. My son has never talked about wanting one. He never asked for one. I don't know why he thought he would be getting one.

99% of my sons life he is either with us, another family member, or at school. Even when he goes to soccer practice, we take him and hang around the field until practice is over. He doesn't talk to anyone on the phone at home. I mean, it's not like he talks to his friends or anything in the evening or on the weekends.

I see no point in paying a lot of money for a cell phone, and plan at this point in time.

Yeah, he came and aquajogged with me on Sunday, for an hour and 20 minutes. We would've kept going, but the pool was closing. My heel/ankle/achilles/whatever you want to call it was not very happy Sunday night and Monday. It was sunny and 55 degrees with clear air (i.e. no inversion/pollution gunk) here yesterday. That's ok. I shouldn't be running on pavement right now anyway. Treadmill here I come. Yahoo

I haven't checked prices yet. Hubby wanted to maybe use some of his miles to buy the ticket...yeah. he's a little busy at work right now though.

So flights are a little bit higher now. Well, technically they are back up to what they were a month or so ago. They've only changed about $20 though.

Gas prices have really gone up here, I wonder if that is why plane tickets have gone up.

Hi Ghoulies.

My doctors office called this afternoon. There were some abnormalities on my EKG. I have to see a cardiologist now.

I had a really long day today. Left the house at 6am and am just getting home. Tomorrow is another early start and then a quick trip to Boston. It is 20* outside. I am going to make myself some dinner and go to bed with a book. I doubt I'll read more than a few pages.

So we did secret santa today in my class, the other swimmer got me.

He got me a gift certificate for the running room and wrote me a poem:

"Melissa likes to run,
She thinks it's lots of fun,
She has a great swimming stroke,
to her training is no joke,
on the bike she is fast,
and damn sure she won't finish last,
you're an ironman triathlete,
I think that is really neat.

But there was something missing in her life,
A source of so much strife,
She loved to run but felt really low,
For, she couldn't afford shoes, she had no dough,
Along came a strapping young german man,
Who picked up Melissa's spirit, "Yes, you can!"
He presented her with a card
THe contents of which threw her off guard,
Now all her dreams can come true
She can finally be a doctor and runner too!"

Haha! I love my poem!
