Pro 4360 Baton Rouge area | Subject: RE: Gary's Mentor Group - Closed LOL, couldn't view the webcam at work so tried tonight and I get a great pic of darkness! You can see a little movement but will try tomorrow morning. BTW, you need to get yourself a wetsuit! Keep an eye out and you can buy used ones for $50-$75 and new Xterra's for not much more. Either way good luck this weekend and I want a Looooong RR! BTW, I am racing also! Sprint (525m/15m/2.5m). Will be hot and miserable on the run. Unlike David's swim, mine will be calm but water temp in the 80's. Edited by GaryRM 2011-07-05 9:18 PM |

Veteran 144 Sparta | Subject: RE: Gary's Mentor Group - Closed I had a friend give me a brand new pair of Bontrager Road Warrior slicks on Sunday. I put them on last night and the results are great. I was running MTN bike road tires that are 26x1.95. The slicks are 26x1.5 and completely smooth. I road 12 miles on Sunday with the original tires in 52 minutes. I did the same loop last night with the slicks in 44:45. That is an improvement of over 7 minutes for the 12 miles! Also equates to 16 avg MPH verses 13.8 avg mph. Feeling more confident heading into my first TRI on Sunday. |

Veteran 306 | Subject: RE: Gary's Mentor Group - Closed Aaarrggghhh. I will not be racing this weekend. it turns out that my on-again, off-again stomach indigestion issues and lthe ast two weeks of mild flu wasnt a stomach bug at all. I just found out that there's a problem with my gallbladder (precursor to gallstones) and I'm meeting with a specialist next week to see if I have to have it removed. Sooooooo....the doctor's main advice was NO RUNNING however she did say that I could swim and bike if I felt up to it. It sucks but at least I know what the problem is now. I thought that I was going crazy with a never-ending stomach virus. At this point I may do a triathlon this year or I may not. I just want to feel better. Good luck to those of you racing this weekend. I'm volunteering at the race I was supposed to do. |

Member 96 | Subject: RE: Gary's Mentor Group - Closed Did anybody else get over to the Sunfish Tri in Meridian this past weekend? If so what was the temp? I was thinking that is was close to 85 at start and 90ish around 9am. Ok, this is the second event I've been to where the race coordinator has had a vendor serve hot food to the racers after the event. Then first one was serving fajitas, and this last one was serving Popeye's chicken. Why serve hot food to hot racers (ok and volunteers/spectators) that can only think of cooling off? |

Pro 4360 Baton Rouge area | Subject: RE: Gary's Mentor Group - Closed Hey all! Had a decent race, swim wasn't my best but better than last years. Ride went great and hit my goal of avg'ing 20 mph on th bike. Run was hot and was probably slower than last year. Overall I think I beat last years time. Did take 3rd in my AG out of 5. Back later! |

I love point-to-point swims and the water temp was okay (a bit warm). You swim a little against a current it is reflected in my time. Overall a well run race. Working on my RR and will have it up soon. David - yes I was able to read your RR. Edited by GaryRM 2011-07-11 10:17 PM |

Sorry you're having gallbladder issues. I know what a pain they can be. Mine keeps acting up just enough to bother me, but not enough to require removal. Hope you get answers and feel better soon.

I have an Oly next month but travel plans may interfere with that. Hope everyone is posting their TDF rides! I am hoping for a long ride on Saturday. Haven't been swimming much and need to get that fixed ASAP and hope for a swim today. So, how is everyones training? |

Anyone have suggestions of good ones or bad ones? Everyone has their favorite but typically the fluid trainers are better (quieter and feel more like the road). I have the Cycleops Fluid 2 and works well for me. I bought it used and have put a lot of miles on it. I have heard good stuff about their customer service. Also heard good things about the Kurt Kinetic. |

Veteran 306 | Subject: RE: Gary's Mentor Group - Closed I also have a cycleops fluid trainer 2. Bought it on ebay for around $100, works great and is fairly quiet (but I still cant ride it inside during naptime). for me it was definitely worth the money - with little kids I'm trapped at home for lots of naptimes (like right now) and can also use it in the mornings when my husband is traveling for work. It gets lots of use - in fact, I have far more indoor rides than outdoor rides. I wish that it was the other way around, but thats how life is right now. Heading out to the garage to use it right now. |

Pro 4360 Baton Rouge area | Subject: RE: Gary's Mentor Group - Closed Hey all! too quiet around here. Work is nuts and still trying to get my workouts in. Ran 10k Sunday night, semi-hot, very humid (rained that day) and I was drenched when I was done. Finally made it back to the pool today and did a 1000m swim followed by a 500m pull. I have my Oly next month and really need to step up my swimming. It will be a very hot race and hopefully I will be ready. So how is training? |
