Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Bryan, I feel (felt) your pain... as most of us can attest, it isn't a matter of "if" but "when"...glad to hear it wasn't any worse. If you need a 70-mile training ride a few weeks before Ironman Canada, come up to Frisco and ride with me on Aug 3rd. (But I only bought ONE tuxedo jersey) Good job, Phil! Hope everybody else had a great racing/training weekend. Now that the wedding shower is over with (and I say that in the nicest way!) I can get my focus back to the training. Rubber side DOWN, all!

Sorry been icognito... Congrats to all on RACES! and Finish LInes.... Bryan... bummer on the crash.. hope you are healing well. Finish Line to add... PT Solutions Sprint yesterday... 500m/18m/5k.... went okay... Got my first Penalty!!! whoo hoo... Also.. made bunch of mistakes this time concerning eating/hydration.. and it cost me some TIME, as I spent the last quarter of the bike cramping and the entire run!! Side note::::: C'mon man... give the penalties to someone in contention... !!!! not the poor guys who end up Pelaton'd on the big bad hill!!!! while trying not to fall over!! Boy did I learn alot between these first two races.... concerning training... loss from being slack/time off.... and how important it is for planning even if the race time is just from 1:25 to 1:50 total time putting out the effort.... Will tri to be more active coming up and catch up on everyones accomplishments and heartbreaks.. Work and life has been a bear this last month. M.

Veteran 201 Long Island | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Hey Monte, sorry to hear about the penalty, how annoying. I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one trying not to fall over while huffing up a hill!! It is hard to balance at 4 mph, on a hill and even harder to unclip!! My work schedule has been very tough also the past few weeks. Leaving for the Adirondacks Thursday. Looking forward to the rest and relaxation after my tri on Sat. Nervous about the hills. There are some steep ones. If I have to walk, so be it, right?? I haven't been training too hard so I hope I am okay. I am hoping the rest helps and not hurts. Good luck Pam and anyone else racing this weekend, in case I don't get back online. |

Member 38 Washington DC | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Congrats to everyone on their finish lines recently, and Bryan, sorry about the crash. I'm not looking forward to my first one.
I've been kind of slacking lately, but still getting in at least one good workout per discipline each week. Finally got my electric bill to prove I live in DC and can now get into the pools without paying... woo! Going home.. and my big plans (other than a friends wedding) is that I'm going to get in some OWS time! Very nervous about that. My swimming has improved drastically. I was doing about 3min/100 yards and I hit under 2:00/100 yards consistently this week.
My first sprint is next weekend, so I am FREAKING out, but I think it will help kick me into gear, since it means the olympic I'm training for is only a month away.
Hope everyone has a safe 4th..

Extreme Veteran 1338 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Everybody sounds great. The dog days of summer are great but tough training. Let's go people. Harden up and get out there. I am going to try to ride tomorrow and see how it goes. The doc said two cracked ribs and a really bad looking hip. Didn't think anything was broken. Bruise was about 18 inches long and about 6-7 inches wide. My KE has been numb for over a week in the hip area and God help me if I sneeze. That said - we are giving it another shot tomorrow. I just could not stay on the bike last Saturday. Happy 4th of July - now get off your and get in a workout. |

Extreme Veteran 845 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Here I am...........been busy working, training and traveling. Last weekend, I went up to Louisville for the iamtri group training and boy was I glad I did that. We got to swim in the Ohio river (we didn't do the entire swim), and I biked the entire bike course and ran some of the run course over 2 days. On the bike, I felt like I was cooking and was so glad we had so many aid stations along the way as they kept me going. Billy, welcome back! Sorry to hear about your foot, what has the doctor said? The roads on the bike course are terrible and lots of people said they are the worse they have ever been. You may have seen the RD is seeing what she can do about at least filling the holes. Bryan, sorry to hear about the ribs. Take it easy. Ann and Pam, I believe your races are this weekend. Good Luck and can't wait to hear how it goes. Monte, sorry to hear about the penalty. I am with you, if you are MOP/BOP then they shouldn't worry about you and penalties. Maria, good luck to you and your race next weekend. I will be in Chicago July 13-15 hanging out in the Aurora/Addison area if anyone is around and want to meet up. I will be off line till next week as we are going camping starting tomorrow. Happy training and/or racing this weekend. Remember to stay hydrated with this heat. Edited by krazytallchick 2012-07-03 7:45 PM |

Knee trouble that first started in May is possible Chondromalacia or runners knee. The outlook is 6months rehab. But I'm still in the self treatment/deny all phase. As part of my self treatment, I have converted my desk at work to a stand up desk. So far this has been working out nicely. Real improvements in the level of knee pain and flexability. Well it was working well until today. Birthday party (52) on the 3rd, 3 mile open water swim on the fourth and a real butt kicking swim workout at 5:30am today and it is dam hard to stay standing. Nothing sore but I am so tired, that I'm wobbly. 13 weeks to 70.3 training race, 20 weeks to IMAZ. |

Regular 113 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 I finished my Rhode island 70.3 Had a good swim (for me anyway 47 mins), a wobbly transition, it was different we had to keep everything in our bags. Supposedly a new way of doing things, laying out everything was old school we were told. it made for some anxiety but did not cause major issues in the end. Out of T1 and then the hills kept coming. Down hill was fun but the uphills, man, Florida does not prepare you for that. I stayed on the good side of physics, at multiple points I was wondering if I could go any slower without falling over (5m/h anyone?). i thanked everyone out there, it made me smile to do it and actually helped me to keep going. Anyway made our way into Providence, found my T2 bag in a different transition area and was ready to start the run when the #2 female pro finished. I never found my running legs, but made a great new friend after mile 3 and we ran/walked the whole run together in 2h 14 mins, I could not believe it, I thought we would have been slower. Ended at 6:46. These volunteers are truly amazing. RR later. i am trying to figure out how to return to normal! |

Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Big congrats, Pam! Great job! On a much smaller scale, I managed to finish the Iron Brothers Sprint at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie Saturday. I needed to drive up to Dallas and check out the hotels for the wedding, and then drive the ride course I had mapped out for wedding day morning (no, I am not bailing on my daughter's wedding - it isn't until 4pm so I have plenty of time to get in my IMAZ training ride, make it to the hospital and get any scrapes patched up, and still make it into the tuxedo!) so I figured I would find something to add to the list of things to do. Kind of a weird swim start, in that you are standing in water just above waist high, and crammed together between the boat ramp and a buoy close to shore. This was the first race I have ever been kicked in the face and had my goggles knocked off, so things were not pretty from the very outset. This, and the fact that I was also in the last wave, which meant I would be one of the last people out of the water... that's right, buddy! -- everybody was wearing a bulls-eye on their back once I got on the bike. Picked 'em off one or two at a time... managed to overtake quite a few. Of course, I gave a lot of it back on the run, as always. But going across the dam on the second loop of the bike, I was all of a sudden being pelted in the face by a large swarm of gnats or something...never had to spit so much in my life. Hope everybody had a good racing/training weekend. |

Extreme Veteran 845 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 The last few times I have been on Dario the bike I have been singing, Don't Worry, Be Happy. Which brings me back to Jamaica and how I love to vacation in Jamaica. So I am thinking about changing my bike name to Cool Running. Plus it might help me stay nice and cool during this heat spell. Training is going well for me. The nerves are really kicking in and I am being to doubt myself, especially when I hear these bike times and how much slower I am. But I am trying to stay positive and remember why I am doing what I am doing. |

Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Kathy, don't get caught up in other people's times... remember, you have 17 hours to complete THREE events. :-) While my strength (if you can call it that) in triathlon is the bike, I worried about the swim long enough to make sure there was not somebody standing beach-side waiting to take my chip. But I am a SLLOOOOWWWW runner. My point is we all have a strong suit, and that is where we make up or give back time. YOU WILL BE FINE! Cool Running... I like that! |

Expert 1036 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 I have foot report. My doctor is out of town but one of his associates read my MRI for me. No fracture, not obvious soft tissue damage, but did find some problems they attributed to arthritis. Not sure I like it but at least it means I can run if I can handle the pain. |

So glad that you can still do Louisville with me. I totally forgot to tell you that I meet your friend from Missouri who you were in their wedding. Member 38 Washington DC | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 I did it!! Finished my first outdoor triathlon! It was a sprint, on a pretty flat course, and overall I'm feeling positive about it. I finished, and I didn't finish last on anything, but I missed my goal of 2 hours... and I was so close at 2:01:18. The run was much more difficult than I expected, and right around the 3 mile mark my asthma kicked in so I was really struggling and wheezing past the finish line. The swim wasn't difficult as the water was calm, but my average per 100/m was over 3 minutes which is just awful and I know I can do better, and that first 250m took a very long time, so I know to warm up more if at all possible.
The olympic length that I'm training for is August 18th, and I'm toying with the idea of signing up for one on August 4th just to get more practice in a hilly terrain in. We'll see. I know I need to do more bricks, since I've been slacking with that. |
