I had to drive 3 hours to sample soil at a site then come home. Drive for a bunch, put dirt in jars, drive home. I live the dream! I hope you got paid for your time and mileage. |

Visit another Dr @ 2 to see what I can do about this upper respitory crap. Came to work, but I guess with 2 Dr appointments, I just should have stayed home. I think I will not come back when I head off to the first appointment. Any news to report? |

If the coach is not going to be there on time, what kind of lesson is he teaching the girls? I hope that you can work things out so that Keri can have a good time playing. Robin, you do seem to spend a lot of time in your car for your job. At least your home office is easy to get to each day. Jules, sorry that you did not get first. Maybe you can still find a way to get your sister out to visit anyway. Dee, hope that it was a nice day at work. You do enjoy your coffee each day. Edited by kns57 2012-08-29 6:42 AM |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. Yesterday all the Dr. visits went well. MRI results - nothing more major than arthritis in the lower back. Still does not totally explain the hip/leg issue, but at least I am not looking at major backwork having to be done. Dr. is going to send me to physical therapy. We shall see how that helps. So, I continue to take the arthritis meds and we see how it goes. I am going to walk the rest of this week, and then try and run this weekend. Other Dr. - I have a sinus infection. So, I 'm on meds for that. Hopefully I will not feel like a foghorn in a day or two. Everyone who heard me yesterday commented on how miserable I must have felt. And actually just having a cotton head and foggy voice, I felt okay. And since I was out and about visiting Dr's I decided to go to the eye doctor and get my eyes checked. They have gotten a bit worse since the last visit almost 2 years ago, so I will have my new specs in about a week or so. All in all, one very expensive day between Dr's, meds and new glasses. |

The thing that has me so upset is he sent out an angry email, that I am apparently the cause of, and he only had 1 side of the story. I didn't yell at anyone. The girl he says I yelled at was sitting beside me in the grass later and we were talking about school. She didn't seem like she was upset at me, or upset at all. My husband, cousin, and I all agree that he has been very irritable since going to A ball for the fall. If this is what playing a higher level of softball causes then I want to stay in B ball. |

I have an appointment at 2:00 Friday afternoon with the Asst Dean of College Life to get a private belay class on the 35' climbing wall the college has, so I can then climb it at will. You have to take the course first, and they offer it several times, but he is meeting me for a private class and we are also going to talk about other climbing opportunities. I can't wait until Friday! |

I am glad they didn't find anything that requires surgery! I like all types of restaurants, especially those with rum drinks! Ann, sorry about the coach. He doesn't sound like he is too interested and is probably threatened by you picking up the pieces. Don't let his actions bother you (easier said than done, I know), they have nothing to do with you, but him. Just do what is best for your kid and you. Glucosamine is the kind of thing that takes a while to build up in your system. I take it and don't notice much of anything, UNLESS I stop taking it. THEN, I can't open jars and my hands and ankle ache, then I realize that I haven't taken the glucosamine for a couple of days. I go back on it and in a week, I am back to WAY less pain. I have also been drinking cherry juice (1 oz of concetrate/ day), I am amazed at the difference, but it took about 3 weeks to notice. I take it with me when I travel. It is worth having to pay for a bag when I fly just to make sure I have it with me. Jules, your job sounds like lots of fun! I am sorry about the marathon entry. That was a lot of work and worry for you. The easiest thing to do with extra tomatoes is freeze them. Just wash, dry, put in baggies and freeze. You can use them in any recipe just by thawing them. You have to have room in the freezer, but then if you get a hankering for salsa, or tomato juice, or marinara sauce, you just grab and go. If you want to, you can cut them up and freeze them. I put them in baggies, put put them flat in the freezer. I finally figured out to put the total weight or # of cups on the bag for future reference. Dee, How goes it? I SWEAR by glucosamine...have I asked you before if you have tried or used it? if not have you tried it? do the running stores fit you for walking shoes? ask them if you have the time...ever since my last fitting there I have no more toe or arch pain...they worked miracles! I actually am liking running now! Good morning Ghoulies! I was BEAT when I went to bed last night. It was a looooooong day. Did get the supplies to build my kayak rack in our lower shed. I'd like to get it done this week, but with back to school, meet the teacher nights, softball practices, football practices and a scrimmage, not sure if It will get built or not. Maybe next weekend. I think I found the culpret to my chronic knee tendonitis. I wear a lot of old running shoes around, that are stability shoes, then I have my orthotics in them. I think that may be the problem. After wearing them around on Friday my knee was killing me yesterday. Doing an incredibly steep hike yesterday morning didn't help. When I wear neutral shoes my knee doesn't bother me. I think I'm going to clean out all the stability shoes today and stop wearing them. Yes, the supplies did come from Lowe's I haven't built it yet, maybe this weekend. We need to find who has our chop saw, it will make building the rack MUCH easier. I did try glucosamine years ago. I forget why I stopped taking it though. Maybe I should try it again. yes do try try try it again! |

Champion 7546 Santa Cruz, California | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. ironannekidd - 2012-08-29 2:46 AM that sux....and the coach should not have EVER sent that email! I coached a group of gals in middle school for basketball and I could not imagine speaking to the parents like that! plus being late IS A PROBLEM! timeliness is something that should demonstrated! Im sorry that this happened to you Ann...but take some deep breaths and realize that you did nothing wrong. and if you need me to come kick some booty~ i got your back girl!!! I had less than 4 hours sleep last night, so if anyone sees me sleeping under my desk later wake me in time to pick Keri up from school and go to Caleb's football scrimmage. Keri is playing fall softball. In the spring the coach was pretty cool, he had a good bunch of girls, softball life was good. This fall he has been in a pissy mood, he has 3 new girls on the team (they played on the C team in the spring) and 2 of them have attitudes and zero work ethic. The coach has been frequently late to practice this fall, so me, my cousin, and a dad who help with the team have started practices. The girls are all there, the coaches aren't. On Saturday practice was to start at 3:00 and the coach didn't get there until 3:40. He did send a text out at 3:15 that he'd be there by 3:30, but that doesn't do much good when you have a team full of girls there wanting to play softball. Last night he was late, we had the girls go out and just start throwing balls around to warm up. The girl Keri was with, they were standing about 10' apart, was throwing the ball like she was going from home to second base. After the first throw Keri told her it was too hard, to slow down. The second throw hit Keri square in the bottom of her rib cage. I heard the THUNK! I ran to her and carried her off the field and put her on a bench. Another mom offered us an ice pack. I checked her out to make sure she hadn't broken a rib. I told the girl who threw the ball she needed to be careful and pay attention to how close her target was, that was it. At 9:00 last night, as I'm getting ready for bed, the coach sends out a nasty email. He said that 1) we need to remember that these are just kids and accidents happen (fine, no problem with that) 2) he said that he has had reports of people yelling at other people's kids and that will not be tolerated. (ok, who was yelling?) 3) he said that from now on he is the only one who can start practices and the girls are not permitted to throw a ball or swing a bat before he starts practice. (I have a problem with this) I sugar coated this, the email came off as nasty. I texted him this morning about it and he called me. He said he had several parents tell him I yelled at the girl who threw the ball to Keri. That's just not true! I told him that he only had one side to the story and it was inaccurate. I also told him it wasn't fair to punish the entire team. He said that things like that wouldn't happen if he were there. I asked him how he can guarantee that. I told him that this new rule was not in the best interest of the team. The girls show up early because they WANT to play. I asked if he'd rather have a team full of girls who show up late and don't want to play. He said that this will be the rule at least until Thursday then we could talk about it. I told him Donnie could bring Keri from now on and that Keri could play somewhere else in the spring. He said he didn't want that. I told him if he was going to punish the team because he heard one side to a story and didn't bother to find out what anyone else had to say that Keri didn't need to be on a team like that. My cousin and I talked about it last night, after he sent the email. She said that his wife sits up on the hill above the field and every email he has sent out this fall like last nights has come after she has been to practice. She isn't a very nice woman, and she comes off as being better than everyone. She didn't come to practices in the spring. Why do people have to be like that? I will only go to games this fall, no more practices. Good thing is there are only 6 days of games in the fall. Sorry to ramble on, the whole thing just has me worked up. I DID NOT yell at that kid. I sat on the grass last night putting the girls in a batting order because they had in inner-team scrimmage. I sat there and talked to all of them about school and anything else they wanted to talk about. It upsets me that someone would go to the coach and say things about me that just aren't true. |

I'm not a yeller. Most of the time I'm pretty laid back and don't get worked up over things. If ANYONE understands that accidents happen it's me, I've got a body full of scars and healed broken bones to prove it. I have replayed what happened over in my head all day and nothing happened. The girl was sitting beside me in the grass later and we were talking about school. If SHE was upset about anything she didn't show it. People just frustrate me. MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. Ann, that is fabulous about the private class so that you can climb the climbing wall when ever you want. I would have to do a whole lot more upper body strengthening before I did a climbing wall. My leg/hip/back issue sounds an awful lot like yours. They say bursitis and sciatica in the right hip. The hip has been sore for a long time, but last fall I started getting shooting pains down the leg and into the foot. That is when they diagnosed the sciatica. Gave me arthritis meds and exercises to do. There was also a shot of cortizone into the hip. Ouch. Anyway as the pain progressively got worse, that is when my chiropractor was worried about the back. So, we did the decompression. It did seem to help for a short while, but then the pain was getting bad again. So, I started to take the arthritis meds, and the pain at night eased up, but I was still having trouble sitting in certain positions or for a long period of time. So back to the orthopedic doctor I went and we scheduled the MRI. Glad to know the problem is no worse than arthritis in the back, but the hip and leg issue are not gone. So, now physical therapy, which I know won't be much different than what the chiro did. We shall see. I guess i will call and schedule the first appointment. |

Because of the arthritis in my back, and the spinal stenosis the sciatic nerve going down my left leg is pinched. This is what causes the numbness, burning, and spasms in my right leg all the time, and why I get the injections at the pain clinic. I also have piriformis syndrome, so my piriformis is spasming all the time pinching the nerve as well. Some days are good, some days are bad, I just do what I can. Kim had a similar experience with her back. She was diagnosed with hip problems for over a year before the spinal problem was found. Totally sucks that you guys had to suffer that long before you got a correct diagnosis. |
