amy mutz - 2008-02-02 7:57 AM Dee - so glad to see you back!!!! I hope you get to find some time with yourself soon, it misses you Eric - Go get em on the spin class, does your wife do tri's also? Did you have any interesting runs, is that morbid to ask? ... Amy IN

My wife has actually decided to train for her first sprint in March. She did a women's super sprint in October as part of a relay team (they took 1st place) but she only did the bike leg.  When I first got started, I harassed her about doing one. She had been saying no so I left her alone. After the October race, she decided that she wanted to do one.  Her motivation--If all those fat, old ladies could do it, then she could too (her words, not mine ).

We were busy on Fri night but nothing too exciting. We had a wreck on the interstate that probably could/should have killed someone.  This older bronco rolled over and it actually ripped the roof off the back half of the truck.  There was an adult and a kid in a car seat in the back. The truck ended up upside down.  Pretty amazing none of the 4 in that vehicle weren't hurt worse.

hey now wait a minute...she was the young little whippersnapper that went screaming by, eh!?

Amy - here is a picture that you asked me for last week....this is the truck that flipped over on interstate 101 and shut it down in both directions for over 24 hours...crazy that it took that long...but it did...was big news around here...many local BTers contacted me and told me that our little area was the reason it took many of their coworkers almost 5 hours to get to or from work and some just turned around and went home...

SEE LINK FOR NEWS STORY: couldn't find the one where I was interviewed...probably a good thing...I had just finished running and was not looking so good...hehe and good things smells do not leak thru cameras/televisions....would have not been pretty! )

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/media?id=5926201

Sorry to take so long to get this to you Amy...but I have been busy....hope you are out riding your bike in the fortys...ouch! thats cold! but I will be swimming outside in the fiftys...so, not sure which is worse....have a good ride!

amy mutz - 2008-02-04 6:57 AM Well Julie at this point in time it looks like my daughter will not be making it to CA for Natls in the spring. She has been having tremendous leg pain for the last month so we went to an ortho and she has a stress fracture in her femur, he said he doesn't know how she was even getting out of bed. So we are really dealing with a lot of difficult emotions right now. Having to accept not running for 4-6 weeks and not making it to Natls is a adjustment that is not going to be easy for her. But she is a trooper and is trying to re-focus her goals... She is now doing 2 hours workouts each day in the pool, as per coach and doctors advice. I told her she would get back to the same level once she was released but she is very down right now. Everyone have a great workout week!!!!! I will check in with everyone later. Amy IN

My boss's high-school age daughter runs track and cross country. I think she had a similar issue back in the fall.  I wonder how common this is?  It usually takes a ton of force to break the femur in a trauma, so I guess that tells you how much of a pounding the body takes when running.

that sukks Amy....I am sorry for you and for her....way to keep her active in the pool - while you are there...will you swim a few laps for me? ) Truly sorry about your daughter. Have a good week!

medic0020 - 2008-02-04 8:59 AM

It's Monday and I'm back. Our internet connection at home has been down all weekend. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I spent 30 mins on the phone with customer service on Saturday and no luck. After MUCH frustration and cursing, I finally managed to get the last few lights hung from our purchase last weekend. Took out the ceiling fan in the kitchen and put in a low-hanging overhead light and replaced the old fan in our bedroom with a new one. We had to make 2 extra trip back to Lowes to finish the project. Saturday, i found out that the kitchen light had no instructions in the box so I had to go "steal" some from another box. Then we figured out that the wires were cut too short in the light for it to be installed properly. Had to go return it. While we were there, karen picked out 2 sets of under-cabinet lights for me to put up too. I not sure if she's trying to get me electrocuted or what. I'm more Tim Taylor than Bob Villa.

Happy Monday! Have a great week of workouts!

Hm, so....

1) Internet connection goes down on Saturday.
2) "Home improvement projects" follow.
3) "Home improvement list" grow unexpectedly larger.
4) "Home improvements" are completed.
5) Internet connection goes up on Monday.

(Who here thinks Karen had a hand in pulling the plug on BT? Sounds awfully suspicious to me! LOL)

Congratulations on completing your home improvement projects Tim Eric!

crea0029 - 2008-02-03 1:44 PM Does anyone else love it when you can take a lot of stress and frustration and turn it into a kick a%$ workout? That is what I did today and I am thriving off the good energy. Hope everyone has a good Sunday and gets in a good workout!! Let's get Feb off to a good start!

You have just learned a major lesson in life. A good workout is a super outlet for frustration, etc. We forget that the stronger we are, the better we will handle EVERYTHING we do. I could not do all I do without the workouts. I would melt. Hope the roommate thing works out. Just don't beat them up, it will get you in trouble. EK

PS: So many good wines, so little time. Julie, Amy, Peggy and I will get to share some... If your ever in AZ, Peg and I will open something special for you too.

Ooooo...do i get some wine too if I ever get out there?  I like wine too and I am legal!

If you ever get to AZ, we will break out something special.   There are a lot of really good folks down here.  So Pam, grab some friends and put AZ on one of your break schedules.  We will give you lots of fun places to stay and places to go.  Peggy and I are in Tucson from September to May.  And, we only drink good wine.  Or, a good Margarita.   Or, a good Martini.  Who cares, they are all good.

My workout today went down the weather drain.  I posted a photo...

PS:  This invite is open to any of you...

Hi All,

Heading to the gym after I drop the kiddos off at preschool.

I am in for a 10 mile spin and 1000y swim.

Then a trip to the grocery store before I pick up the kiddos at noon.

What does everyone else have planned?

Ok, I'm tired now...ready for a nap, but now it's time to go work on a truck.  Got in my masters swim today (2500yds) then a run (4.36miles including 3x5:00 sprints) and a ez spin on the exercise bike to loosen up my legs. I'm officially tired and starving now!

Have a great night.  I'll check in on you guys tomorrow after I wake up.

Well here we are again...another day to make a difference in our lives and lives of others.

I feel sad for KY, TN and Ark today. We were in line to get those storms and they headed south. The hopkins county, KY tornado is just 1.5 hours from here and they were hit hard... I have family in Ark., but they are ok. This is not shaping up to be a good year for us in the storm/tornado area. My thoughts and prayers go out to the people that lost so much last night, and especially the loss of loved ones.
