Extreme Veteran 506 Lake Placid, NY | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME YES YES YES I want an abs challenge. PLEASE? Weight loss. Well, I worked out a ton. But I barely snacked in between meals AT ALL. If ever. I would also like to chalk it up to pink grapefruit, a kind I have discovered and confirmed DOES NOT EXIST in the hinterlands-- the code on it ends in 81. OH MY GOD. I could live on it. I smuggled back 3 in my suitcase, but unfortunately they were heavy and due to the influx of outfitting (much of which was in size 6, not size 8, per usual- a fate much better than winning any triathlon) I was flirtting with going over the suitcase weight limit. I ate a lot of veggies, discovered I really like all veggie sushi- may become my new Friday night meal! I had ice cream three times-- no, wait, I'm pretty sure that didn't help. I LOVE the idea of putting fresh fruit on the table at dinner. Just told my husband we are starting that ASAP. Of course, we have out to dinner plans with our friends tonight- yuck- love the friends but I am way sick of restaurants. |

But you earned it. And it probably left you feeling like you weren't deprived. |

So let's make one and see who wants to play. In the past, when I've done one, I've just used the Around the World routine, started at say 10 reps per exercise and increased by 5 each week for 4 weeks. Sound good? Starting on Monday? |

In the past, I've done it 7 days per week, 4 weeks. I'll leave it up to you, at least everyother day I think. I am going to play too think I'll do M-F, as weekends are beginning to be intense enough! So far then it's Amy, Suzanne and Mimi. Edited by Mimir98 2008-04-13 12:07 PM |

Master 2005 South Florida | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME I'm going to do the routine referenced above (around the world)...I think it has 14 different exercises, so a total of 140 per day the first week, 210 per day 2nd week, 280/ daily 3rd week and a whopping 350/daily the final week. It got tough that last week the last time I did it...Plus, I was doing it 7 days. But WE CAN DO IT because WE ARE WOMEN HEAR US ROAR. Now let's see if any of the boys are not too chicken to join us!!! |

Okay, I'll do that M-F- may sub in a few of the pilates moves Janis gave me this am, but will use the same format, 10 each, increasing as the weeks go on. April 14 until May 9? Or May 16? What a wonderful pre-bathing suit plan! We always joke here that spring break is a test run- we now have 2 months till "our summer". |

Master 2005 South Florida | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME How about May 9th...I have a half iron may 18th and will be tapering the week before. Is that 5 weeks? Then we have to go up to 30 reps of each |

Extreme Veteran 451 Lake Effect Snow Country | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME so m-f for the next four weeks? I already do these twice a week at 20 per, so should I do 10 every day now and then 15 and so on? I want to play by the rules!! And lose wt on vacation. I'm not going on vacation for quite awhile, so that might be hard. |

Veteran 202 Tucson | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME Ok gang, I am inspired (and a little ticked off too). Let me explain: I spent a bit of time yesterday checking out our local gals who were running the IMAZ yesterday. Of the 7 who had registered, 5 finished. (One had dropped out ahead of time due to a death in the family, the other was running this SIX WEEKS after having given birth!!! And she got through the swim and 75 miles of the bike!) These ladies have inspired me to commit to IM (btw, one of the group is PirateGirl -- check out her RR in a day or two). And then I was telling my 89 year old mother about some of the gals racing yesterday. Her response was "I hope you're not planning on doing that." Grrrrrr. So now I'm planning on doing it. Definitely! So here are my updated, long-term goals. They're on my blog, but I thought I'd put them here as well, to make them more public. 2008: run my 3 sprint triathlons and improve my time at each one. 2009: run at least 1 olympic distance tri, get a better bike and learn how to OWS. 2010: 2-3 olympics, possibly an HIM 2011: HIM, maybe dress-rehearsal at IMAZ (if there was an HIM last year) IMAZ 2012! (AZ Centennial and my 50th)

Extreme Veteran 506 Lake Placid, NY | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME At least you're only getting crap from your mother- my HUSBAND turned sort of sour on me after I won the tri-- yeah, you heard me right- now he is all concerned I'm going to train for an IM. Which is NOT my goal. HIM, yes. IM, no. Definite attitude showing, there is. He doesn't care if I do another marathon. But in this town, you see a lot of people training who are NOT balancing career, training and family gracefully-- (you don't see the ones who ARE - they are too graceful to really stand out) so he's all antsy about it. Your goals sound good. Good for you, Suzanne! |

Master 2005 South Florida | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME Nothing like being told you CAN'T...just to prove YOU CAN!!! My mom was supportive during my training (she'd watch the kids, worry for my health...yes, a smoker for 60 years worried about MY health) and was there to cheer (worry) at my race. I have been very open that I am doing another one in 2009, but apparently she just heard this and said "Oh no you're not"...as if. Suzanne will do it. I bet Amy will too. You'll know when your time is right! |

Extreme Veteran 506 Lake Placid, NY | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME Why do you think we get the attitude? I'd be proud and supportive if he told me he wanted to do IM? Still having no plans for summer for my kids, I've spent much of this night online looking for a nanny/au pair for summer. Anybody know any really cool young lady who likes active kids who wants a summer live in job at a house with an in-ground pool in the cool, breezy beautiful mountains? There are tons of agencies, but I'm not sure they place this rurally- they like to place a bunch together and then have support for them....... |

As far as training and having a job and family....organization is VERY important. |

Master 2005 South Florida | Subject: RE: Mimir98's group-CLOSED AGAIN...FOR REAL THIS TIME So as far as support goes, a happy partner is a happy partner. My husband and son run all over the place doing bmx, but when he is home and I am home, we really enjoy each other and our time as a couple and family. As mothers we tend to shoulder more responsibility at home (or at least in our heads-constantly thinking about what we have to do for everyone)...however, I have seen enough women forget who they are, throw everything into everyone else, and end up pretty miserable. We were people before kids, with interests and a life...and as long as we don't go overboard and forget about the family, etc., we should still pursue those interests. However, if you've always had the "I'll take care of everything supermom role", you may have to ease out of that a bit before taking the IM plunge. I have learned my kids and husband don't really care if the laundry sits on the couch all week, folded but not put away, everyone dressing from the piles, so why should I? One day, when I am old and gray, I will have a clean house. We are not dirty, but we are a bit messy . So once I got over my hang up about having the perfect house, it was easier to balance things. Did I just totally ramble on? |
