Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: Team Vixen - Dec. Limiter Challenge chartierm22 - 2008-12-08 8:10 PM Ok, need some opinions here, I am training to do a sprint (my first) this summer. Should be ready by begining of summer I'm thinking (actually before then but no races till then). Would it be too soon to then train for and complete an oly by the end of summer beginning of fall? YES, DO IT!!! In fact, you can "aim" for the Oly as your main race, and just think of the sprint as part of the training. Careful though - you're going to do one, and then want to add in about 10 more before the Oly. It's addicting! Really, the key is the swim. Are you comfortable enough that you'll be able to swim about a mile by end of summer? you can always coast on the bike, and walk the run portion, if you really had to. And I'm sure you'll have a bunch of fans hanging out cheering you on, sipping their fine chardonnay out of styrofoam cups. |

Would it be too soon to then train for and complete an oly by the end of summer beginning of fall? Yes, actually the swim part will be the easiest for me. I started swimming as soon as I was able to crawl and kept swimming right through HS swim team. We have a family cottage on a lake, so OWS is not a problem either. I could go out today and swim for a mile. Would not be very fast, but I could do it. |

For example... if you already have a routine that works for you... ie swim Monday, Brick Tuesday or whatever... then I use the plans to give me ideas on the TYPES of sessions I should be doing... and distances etc...

As a coach, that is. He seems perfect. Has a physiology background, long coaching history and coaches full time. He's very personable and we got along well. I think he'll keep me from overdoing it and be sure every minute I spend training is valuable. I talked to him about not wanting to give up my life for this and he said he can help me try to find the right balance. Too bad you have to ruin a perfectly good trip with biznes, huh? |
