Those are both sweet rides, kiri!  I bet you'll feel lightning fast on the new Cervelo.

Sucks about the weather up there.  I'll just keep my mouth shut about ours

Okay, I have serious bike envy now.  (I could also be having wetsuit envy if someone would cooperate....hint..hint)

Hah!  Next I'll see what I can do on Sunday

I've also got a pic of the sunburn I managed to get last Saturday.  It's moved to the itchy phase, so work is pretty uncomfortable this morning.

Hello group!

I survived my long workout weekend and now I am enjoying recovery week.  Aahhh!  If only I had an umlimited training budget and could schedule some body pampering ie massages, pedicures, and other wonderful spa treatments.

The hardest part this week is trying to curb the eating.  I am trying to cut back on calories and the big fat tray of girl scout cookies in my office in not helping matters!

We are having see-saw weather around here as it seems most are having.  70s over the weekend, 40s today and back to 60s and rain tomorrow.  I'm going to get sick all over again.

Kiri - cool looking bike.  I'm jealous, I'd love to get a tri bike someday.  But as my darling husband points out to me - "you can't ride the bike that you have."

I give him evil looks and call him names under my breath.  Who says you have to use aerobars even if you have them on your bike!  LOL

Oh which reminds me, I got into aero position for the first time EVER this weekend.  For only about 1/2 mile but I did it.  Although I did almost (literally) crash when I tried to hit the lap button on my garmin while riding.

Yeah, Bill, promises, promises...

We went north over the weekend and I got to go skiing, finally.  It was a great weather for skiing, 50 degrees but still plenty of snow.  I stuck  to my training plan while I was there and did my long run, which was actually faster than usual.

I got back to work this week and discovered they've messed something up and I can't post to BT anymore.  It's not just BT, I'm having trouble with other sites too, even some that are work-related.  Anyway, now all I can do at lunch is read posts.  So know I'm still here, even if I haven't said anything.  I'll just have to catch up on my posting at home.

So would it be crazy for me to do the Capital to Capital Century Ride Sat. May 9 then run a Mother's Day 1/2 marathon on a fun, easy course then follow up w/ a 1/2 marathon the following Sunday (May 17).  Part of me thinks it could be a really good prep for my HIM in June.  But I don't want to over do it.

As far as training, in my plan the week before all of this is my hardest, longest training week and the week of the century and first 1/2 is a recovery week.  And the week before my hardest week, I am coming off back to back tris - one Sat. April 19 and the other Sun. Apr. 26.  So would it be bad/good to jumble things around or cut some events out?

So to try and simplify:
Current plan (st. 8 weeks before HIM - June 7)
Hard Week - ending w/Olympic tri
Hard Week - ending w/ Sprint tri
Hardest Week of entire plan
Recovery week ending w/ Century and possibly 1/2 marathon
Hard week ending w/ 1/2 marathon
Last hard week ending w/ 1 mile swim race
2 taper weeks ending w/ HIM

Proposed changes to plan:
Hard Week - ending w/Olympic tri
Hard Week - ending w/ Sprint tri
Recovery week
Hardest Week of entire plan ending w/ Century and possibly 1/2 marathon
Hard week ending w/ 1/2 marathon
Last hard week ending w/ 1 mile swim race
2 taper weeks ending w/ HIM

Writing it out this way seems to make sense to me to switch those 2 weeks but I thought I'd throw it out to the group.

I'd got with the changed plan.  It actually makes a better use of your recovery week, allows you to do some fun events (which make training much more bearable), and gives you a great three week push into your taper.  I also like the fact that you end the last hard week with a swim race.  Good for fitness and good for letting the legs rest up even more.

And I'm jealous.  I love century rides, but the one here is the weekend after my HIM.  I think I owe the wife a weekend for stuff she wants to do

I was super sick...I am now just somewhat miserably and sick.

Ironically, my digestive track is the only thing uneffected by what ever I am experiencing.

I am getting better, but not as quickly as I would like. The Dr gave me an Rx to open up my airways a bit and said to keep up everything else that I am doing.

I guess the crud is working it's way west.  Just don't bounce it back this way, Melissa!

We have absolutely nothing on the calendar this weekend.  Shhh!  Don't tell anyone.  We might actually get to *gasp* relax!

Hey gang, it's been a while.  Ended up going to Memphis this weekend to catch the Memphis basketball game (the wife's team).  Then got to watch Mississippi State win the SEC!!!  You west coasters watch out.  We're playing in Portland.  Then I got oh so lucky and had to go out of town to work today, got back, did yardwork, and I'm currently coated in benedryl cream because I had some sort of reaction to a plant I dug up.  Good times

Whew... How's everyone doing?

You guys have the mighty UW Huskies in the first round (my adopted team by way of my wife being an alum - somehow the U of Auckland New Zealand did not make it this year...)

Everybody here in Seattle is very nervous after the SEC win and grumbling about how Miss State are too good to be a #13.  Should be a good game!

I'm trying to figure out how I can get off work to watch...

We are definitely playing better than a 13 seed right now, but we lost to some pretty bad teams early in the year that not only hurt our seed, but cost us an at large bid had we not won the conference tourney.  I'd feel better about an upset if the game weren't in Portland, though.  But, it's why march is so awesome.  Teams that never meet finally get together.  I love this time of year!

Hello everyone - Happy St. Patty's Day.

Hope everyone is on the mend for good.  No more injuries or winter colds/flu.  Of course, it could now be time for spring allergies.  UGH!  I lost my voice over the weekend but it is slowly coming back much to my husband's disappointment.  ;-)

Does anyone have any races this weekend?  I've got my first one Sunday.  One of my "A" races for the year although I don't quite feel 100% prepared.  So we'll see how it goes.  My friend is going to run w/ me and try to help me stay on pace.  She did the Austin 1/2 in just under 2 hrs. so she will be a big help.

Regardless of my performance, I am excited to be heading to the beach for a weekend w/ just the hubby and no KIDS!  Bless their little hearts but it will be nice to have a meal w/o my ears ringing for the noise, jumping up every few seconds to get milk, wipe butts, wash hands, and threaten a time out the next time they yell, throw, kick, slide under the table or otherwise misbehave during dinner.  And March Madness kicks off Thurs. So we will be at a bar Friday night soaking in some games.  :-)

Wow, busy week.  Melissa infected her fellow students, Bill has hives, and Samantha is running away from home.  What's everyone else up to?

My life has been pretty uneventful, not that I'm complaining.  I'm sticking to my plan, even though I'm sore all over.  I am learning to appreciate the recovery weeks, so I'm looking forward to next week.

I decided to do the 5K on Saturday, so I'll be racing trying to keep up on Saturday.  The weather is supposed to be nice, so I have no excuse not to.

Happy Wednesday!

This morning I did 1000 yards in the pool.  That's the first four digit swim since I started my training plan.  One of my shoulders is sore so I ended up putting together a bunch of 50s and 100s to get there.  I'm hoping the shoulder is just sore from using it and not because something's wrong.

Great job on the swim! I get a twinge in my left shoulder everytime I swim.  I'm sure it has something to do w/ my awful swim stroke.  But it always goes away when I finish and doesn't seem to be a problem.  My back was so sore after my last swim.  It was the first time I felt like I was using back muscles.  Not sure if that's good or bad!

Good luck at the 5K.  It is going to be a great weekend for road races.

And we are running away - I think we will return to the children.  LOL Although they probably won't miss us since I'm a mean mommy who won't buy sugary cereal and my son knows that there are cereal straws waiting for him at Nana's house.
