rh8463 - 2010-10-15 11:29 AM Hey Yanti, just tried to do some info gathering for you but a search of pubmed for chikungunya AND exercise came up with a grand total of zero papers.

A recent review on it had lots of epidemiological data but only a tiny bit on treatment and the vaguely said treat to reduce symptoms, so NSAIDs, cortisone etc
They did say that quinine might help inhibit the virus too so might be no harm in drinking lots of tonic water...
Sorry I'm no more help!

Yes. It is a trait in my family to have rare and bizarre diseases. Actually CHIKV has become epidemic/breakout in many places in Asia/Africa, but fairly recently, and of course there's no money in research in those places so it remains pretty ... dim. Pooh!

I am def thinking about rocking the chloroquine.

TriAya - 2010-10-15 1:28 PM Dunno why I'm sharing this--just because I luv y'all

I also deal with some "mental" (believe me like any illness it's all-encompassing) health issues and at times when I've disappeared from BT, the situation's been dire. BT folks have literally saved my life by tracking me down.

I mention it, and I am sure you're like this anyway because you're such lovely people, but with those around you--no matter how sparsely you know them--never be afraid to reach out.

Awww, never be shy to give us a shout anytime!

I saw that in your 20,000 post posting (the people on BT being there). That was a really well thought out post by the way.

ooooh thank you! I was amazed you know by how many people I didn't even know on BT (then) reached out to me. Amazing place this is.

And of course i had to shout out to the Ghoulie Crushers--this is a fantastic challenge team and I've been on several of teh best.

Everyone on BT except 1 has been very nice and helpful. I won't name the 1, but he contradicted something I said as advice to another BTer and said that he likes to find crap info and disprove it. I sent him a PM politely asking if he had any recommendations for websites that he's found reliable because they are hard to find and I wanted to add some to my favorites list. No reply.

Either he thought I was being sarcastic, he read and meant to get back to me, or he's a dick.

Three damned weeks.

I've talked to a handful of people here who have had it and generally they weren't back to speed (although that means normal life, none of them train or anything) until about 6-8 weeks.

There are some longtimer know-it-alls who aren't very tactful. However, the decent ones will ALWAYS reply to a PM.

I think I know which thread you're talking about. I've been watching you since you came around I like to keep tabs on this place.

You shoulda seen how much flak I caught when I first came around but like you I handled it gracefully and well, learned a lot, some things I was right about, some not, and by engaging people I made some pretty good friends on this site fast.

I think most people here are great. I have learned to stay out of supplement debates though because a lot of people believe a lot of stuff and it frustrates me, added to which I bite too easily when people aggravate me when I should know that it doesn't matter what I say they will never back down. So I just avoid them now and everyone is happy

Giving suppliment advice to people brainwashed to believe suppliment is the only way is like giving fitness advice to parents and husband in my experience.

Hahaha. Every day my friends in CoJ tell me to stay out of Tri Talk!

I never do, though.

BTW certain interesting people have become very polite, almost to the point of slobbering, on the forums. It's nice to see.

Hahaha. Every day my friends in CoJ tell me to stay out of Tri Talk!

I never do, though.

BTW certain interesting people have become very polite, almost to the point of slobbering, on the forums. It's nice to see.

Subject: RE: Ghoulies October: GHOULIE CRUSHERS!
One of my husband's friends asked me about steroids...

I did a little research for him and brought back a solid argument about EXACTLY why he shouldn't do it. I had some reasons but he wanted lots of detail. Wouldn't you know it, I ended up in an argument with a pot head over which was a more reliable source - my journal articles or his biography of a baseball player who took steroids and experienced greatness.
