Getting a new one? We can't even trade that one in for parts. Well, yea its old. I don't change bikes every year. (I know, I am odd that way- it is probably a disease). My car is 14 years old, too. What is the deal? These are the highlights from this visit. I was the same way when I bought my new bike from them last time. I thought I would give them another shot. I purchase all my bikes and gear from them. My DH is more of a biker than I. He purchases everything there too. My DD and DS do as well. Not anymore. And I would let the owner know! Let me know when I come down so I don't spend any money there either! Liberty Bikes. They are huge around here. However, there are a BUNCH of bike shops here, ESP MTB because it is so big around here. I will do a poll with my friends at SORBA and get recommendations on a new shop. |

I didn't feel the need to explain that I have nerve damage and arthritis. I just asked for grip shifters to be installed. Gee, WOW.. you mean I am supposed to push that little lever there.. that would DO something? Who knew? Uh yeah. I understand having nerve damage and arthrits. If my LBS talked to me like that I'd be finding another shop, too. Sometimes these guys can't get out of their own way. The guy that looked at my bike last night is going to buy a close-out at lbs that is a decent price, but it is a 2009 and has lower quality components and wheels than mine. The guy at lbs knows my bike (he does my fittings) and told the guy he was getting a better deal with the closeout. Not really true, but whatever. For him, it is a good deal and I told him he should buy it rather than mine. He's done one tri and thinks he wants to do 2 this year. That bike is more than he needs. That said, if he'd bought mine I would have been in said lbs buying something more than I should, not on closeout, and making the lbs far more $$$$. I intend to roll the logic out to said lbs guy next time I see him. Nice job on his part huh!!! When I sold my bike I had him call the LBS. I knew he would do the right thing since I bought 1 bike already this year and have the Mukluk on order. If he pulled that stunt I would have gone elsewhere to buy the Mukluk. I would mention that when you do sell it - you will be buying elsewhere as well. How is the closeout a better deal anyways??? Your bike is an upgrade - SMH - stupid people. This is why I want to own a bike shop! Even worse, he is the owner's son. In the last 4 years, I've bought 3 bikes from them. 2 wheel sets. And countless whatever other stuff. And I took two co-workers there. One of whom bought a Specialized S-works Tarmac. A very expensive ride. Dumb. Just dumb. Of course, I boycott them and that means I have to drive 30 - 45 mins to another shop that may or may not be any better. I really just want to take over managing their shop and get things done right. When I rule the world you can be in charge of the bike shops. I'd have given the job to Bill, but he doesn't carve pumpkins so he gets no position of authority. He can work for you though, if you'd like. |

When I take over the world there will be no voting for it. My rise to power will be swift and mighty, and then there will be naps afterward. Another example of why they need us..............They remodeled last year. The new shop is beautiful BUT they kept repairs in a small building in the rear. You enter and exit separately. SO, when you are waiting for pick-up or whatever, you have nothing to look at other than tubes and lube. All the cool stuff is in the front shop. No browsing. No impulse shopping. Not smart. |
