Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Ail -- Race report is mandatory! Have a great time! Also, can someone search the tri training lost & found and see if my swim balance is in there? I don't know what has happened to me the past week or so, but I've regressed quite a bit. My stroke per lap is into the low 20's (normally 16-18), everything just feels off. Its more struggle than smooth glide like it had been. I'm even to the point where my stroke *sounds* wrong when I'm swimming. I did 1000 yards this AM of mostly drills to work on it, but boy do I need more. I wish there was a master program at a decent time nearby -- the ones know about are all during the day on weekdays, or don't start early enough in the AM for my schedule. |

It's wierd the way that you can just lose the feel and have the efficiency fade so much. Think it's a process where by over time you get the feel more and more ingrained. Hopefully it comes back quickly for you. |

Veteran 612 Kennebunkport, Qatar | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Mike, Great attitude! work on your other sports and soon the foot will be heeled and you will be back to smokin the runs! Good luck getting the bike outside, Freezing rain here this morning and I have a 2 hour bike ride scheduled for today, hopefully I can find a good movie to watch on the trainer? Ail, good luck on the race, have fun and we can't wait to hear how it goes. Way to push yourself! Curt, Awesome job on the swim! Mike is so right, this is about pushing ourselves and not worrying about how we compare to others. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, of course I am still looking for my strength? Keep up the ward work!

Member 60 Athens, GA | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Race Report: Ok 10k was 6.22 miles officially. Did it in 1:08:52 so I was VERY please with myself. Was planning on hitting 15m miles. It was not the best weather, 49 or so and RAINING, not drizzling, RAINING. Went out last night and bought a long sleeve "running top". Probably the best thing I did. I had moments of hot and cold, but overall I think I hit the right temp. It was wet, feet look like the beginnings of jungle rot to be honest, but felt OK. I decided to listen to an audiobook as opposed to music, as the OCD part of my brain would probably count the songs and guess hot long I had ben running. Only looked at my watch once and as the race course did not state what mile you were on and I did not know the layout, it did not really tell me much. When I could see the finish line I was quite suppressed it was there. I was hoping that I could average 15m miles, putting me about 1.5h. So to see the clock counting up not even close to that was SHOCKING and nice! I came home and had a hot shower, and will go stretch after this note, as I can feel the muscles begining to grrrrr. Overall I am wicked impressed with myself. Not that impressive to most, but above and beyond what I hoped for, so go me. Have a big dinner in Hotlanta tonight with some friends, plan to PIG OUT! Hope you all had great weekends. |

Extreme Veteran 422 Somewhere, British Columbia | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Hi All, hoping everybody did their workouts this WE! Me, it was great. Went to the endless pool yesterday and get congratulated for my strokes by a training buddy How can you feel bad after that Went for a 1h30 min ride this morning, leaded the group for the 1st time, managed to average 200w+ for the ride and got my 1st flat (!!) on a trainer (!!!!!)... Was crushing too hard when attacking a hill... this is why you should buy trainer tires... At least, now I know how to change a tube AND a tire... and did my 1st brick workout after. Legs felt crazy during the first 3 mins but then after, it was smoother than usual. 8 hours + logged for this week... tomorrow day off, I will enjoy it Have a good sunday eve everyone ! |

Veteran 243 Cuernavaca, Mexico | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED It’s my birthday tomorrow and I had an early tri celebration today. Since I’m afraid I’m leaving the 44 year old club (sorry Curt and Mike, sniff, sniff), I decided to steal Mike’s idea and do 45mins x 3. So today it was a 1400m swim, 15K bike ride and 6Km run. I’m still very slow, but I brought down my times in each one of the sports. I did my TT during the swim and it was 1000m in 35mins, which is 12 mins less than a month ago. You beat me again Curt!! Are we still doing the challenges? Where are those TT’s? A very dear friend told me this was a celebration to life and to the kick off of the second half of the game. I love that idea!!! Have a great week!! I know will. There are plenty of celebrations to come. LOL |

Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED The official diagnosis is here - whoever had "plantar fasiitis" in the pool is a winner!!! Did a few x-rays, and then an exam. Pictures looked normal. Doc (sports med foot specialist) ask a few questions, checked out my foot, and said it was pretty clear cut case of PF. 2 weeks no running, ibuprofen 3x/day for 2 weeks, get some gel shoe insterts, and ice it. Try running - slowly and short distances -- in 2 weeks and see if its getting better. If yes, continue w/ run build up/ice, etc. If it still hurts, call him back. In other news, my bike broke today, so its a great Monday (Front derailer cable came off derailer, chain fell off all in the middle of a trainer ride). |
