OK - I did another drive by reading - you guys are SO sososo effing funny!!  Very entertaining last couple pages!  Thanks for that!

But one thing Salt said (something about Yanti living in a pink house with a red door and the resulting explosion of Salt's head and her asking if Yanti knew what kind of work she was in...) got me thinking.  I wonder what all of our pod members do to make bacon?  Can we share that with each other?  I know some of you know each other from way back - but as a young manatee, i don't know

I'll share - I'm a druggist.  (i love telling old people that - they think it's so cute(aka clinical pharmacist in a small hospital)

Hope all is well crew - I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better!!

I do computer support for NC State University.  I have done support for Water Quality, Poultry Science, the College of Ag and Life Sciences (the dean, etc.) and now for North Carolina Cooperative Extension.  I have done everything to the crawling under a desk to get stuff plugged in type of support to server installation and support (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X) to delivering and installing computers to all 100 counties in North Carolina to teaching people now to add news to the redesigned website.  My next project is implementing Cvent for Extension.

I've lived in North Carolina since 1990 when I graduated from college and decided that living with my parents while looking for work was a good plan.  I've lived in Milwaukee; Poughkeepsie (well, actually Wappinger Falls, NY); Newfounland, Canada; Waterloo, IA; Ramsey, NJ and now the Raleigh, NC area.  I went to college in Shippensburg, PA where I was a journalism major.  (My parents moved from NJ to NC while I was in college.) That clearly explains why I do computer stuff!

All of that information and I get hung up on Waterloo!  What a dive of a town!!!!!!!!! Of course I always get to see the seedy side  places I visit(Although I must say my last visit to Raleigh was quite pleasant).  Which brings me to my line of work.  Another law enforcement type here.  I am a criminal investigator for the fed.

That sounds so fun. I hope you both really enjoy the race! Tell her it's her first PR.

kgore - 2012-07-11 8:45 PM I got on the old trainer that Clint found recently at a garage sale--it works, albeit loudly! In any case, I did that, then, while fooling around on the net that I apparently have taken too many units of classes in my LONG college career (mainly at a JC--not with financial aid)and that they college doesn't want to give me my financial aid as a result---mind you my 'financial aid' is only a federal loan--already approved! So I don't know what will happen--I can appeal it, but I can't do that until next Thursday, when the FA office has drop-in counseling available. If the appeal doesn't work, then I get to drop out of college and start paying back nearly 30 grand of a school loan that led to nothing! I am so angry/upset about this---I took a lot of classes back in the day, not knowing what I wanted to do, now with a total of 8 classes left total it might be for nothing! AAAAGHHHH!YellCry I don't know whether to cry or yell.

DRINK!

Kidding - that would be super frustrating.  One step at a time - appeal, appeal, appeal - anyone with a brain would understand your situation and help to fix it.  Good luck - positive thoughts to you!

Definitely appeal.  Your school wants this to work out too.  They will find a way to make it happen.

Crossing my fingers for this to work out ... KEEP AT IT! It WILL work out.

Uh ... I have no idea what I do to keep rolling in rice ...

Part-time (translation = full time) I manage our family holding company. Mostly this involves keeping my dad from killing people and keeping people from killing him (including me. Getting paid to not kill someone is almost as good as getting paid to kill someone ...)

Other than that, I write things. Bread and butter is doing due diligence and writing investment analyses (which always includes political analysis as well) for entities wanting to do business or projects in Indonesia.

I'm getting some advances for books I'm writing or translating as well. WAAAAAAAAY behind. WAY. Need to write more. Need more money.

I am a Production Designer for Starbucks which means I am responsible for designing the stores (exterior where relevant and interior) in a specific region. Right now my region is New Zealand, Australia and Thailand. My specialty is Environmental Sustainability.

In addition, I work with a small start-up company doing graphic design, but that is a whole other story and certainly wouldn't fall in the category of "bringing home bacon"

In the UK making bacon is a whole different thing - plenty of ways to do it according to Fifty Shades of Grey!

HAHAHA

This is next on my list to read. I have purposely waited until after the marathon to start it so as to not loose focus...or energy HAHAHA

Speaking of Starbucks… The route we are taking to Salina Kansas is unfortunately devoid of the Green and white. I don't mind stopping at local baristas when they are available but in the small-town our choices will probably be the coffee at Bubba's diner or that day-old coffee at the Piggly Wiggly. My friend at work tells me I'm a coffee snob so this is going to be a difficult trip! Oh the inhumanity!

Coffe snob, eh? You would just die here in Seattle. I'm not really a coffee snob but there is some daaaaamn good coffee here.

What I think is cool is how the trend is really heading back towards the roots of coffee, the patience and the process (IE pour-over)

But I can appreciate the in-a-pinch stuff too. I totally had some 7-11 coffee with like 6 creamers in it the other day (almond joy flavor!!!)

My sister in law ran in to something similar this spring.  She had one semester left to get her nursing degree, the summer term and the school told her she couldn't borrow any more money for the school year!?!!? She was so stressed out.  Unfortunately talking to the school didn't work out for her so they ended up taking out a line of credit to pay for the one semester so she could finish. Just crazy! Call me crazy but isn't it more prudent to let her borrow the money so she can finish school and start earning money!?!?

Hope it works out for you.

It would have to be a really tight pinch for me i.e. the only coffee available on race day. And I don't know if I could do "textured",  maybe if that's all that's available before a race. My co-worker says "I'm going to McDonalds for coffee, want some?" "Uh, NO!" she just laughs

Oh. Because they're young smokin' hot Tour Piglets, that's why!

But still ... you'd think some of them would be so busy riding they just didn't have time to forge a long-term partnership.
