Hooray for more mileage! I got in an unplanned mile and a half this morning too! And you missed the inspirational pic of my really hot ex-boyfriend on page 21 that spurred it on beyond Yanti's original thigh-candy Go have yourself an ogle - he's 30, so it wouldn't be highly inappropriate In fact, I urge all you ladies to ogle him, AND go read his post in his blog (link provided with hot pic) about the crazy bike race he did in the Alps if you want some REAL inspiration!!! Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Goodness, gang, you are really scaring me ... much as I love pix of hotties, I like the real ones better ... As your team taskmaster, I am challenging all of you to go out and talk IN PERSON to a REAL, non-virtual hottie in the next few days -- one who is NOT an ex, a brother/sister, a person in another part of the state or another country, or existing only via Internet. It MAY be your current SO, a coach, a movie star who owns a dog, a person in transition/at the start of your next race, or me if you can actually find me while I'm out on my long run or my long ride... (and yes, Spokes and Dee, you should both play, too). Penalty points if you put yourself down in any way (e.g., "I am slow," "I am overweight," "nobody likes me," "poor ol' Charlie Brown". Bonus points if you get said Hot One to tell you that YOU are hot, fit. More bonus points if you reply, "Yes, that's because I'm a triathlete." Double bonus points if YOU are the one who says you're hot, fit -- but sincerely. Sarcasm and you lose all your points, plus more. Dr. Gail, team shrink and life coach |

Oh no, I didn't miss him...he was SCRUMPTIOUS Travis looks nice and delicious too I think my coach and swim partners would have issue with taking pics tomorrow--damn he has great shoulders and ooh a few other parts look nice when he swims with us too If my husband didn't resemble the Pillsbury Dough Boy in the belly he'd look HOT-I can see where he USED to work out but we've been married 14 years and he doesn't exercise regularly at all (but my exercise habits are enough to vicariously exercise for most of the people I know and he's still a good guy even when he doesn't go to my races or goes and wants to take off as soon as I'm done Edited by zipp1 2007-10-17 4:58 PM |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Done, done, DONE!!!!! (No pics, though. I thought it inappropriate to ask when I'd just Bumped into him, and I didn't have a camera on me. Must bring camera ...) So I'm off to the cafe (appropriately called the Rumor Mill) to get a bite to eat and who should be standing there but a GORGEOUS HOTTIE with a DOG ... nice doggie, pet the doggie, dogs love me (I smell like biscuits, I think), strike up a convo with owner ... I'm clearly wet, so he asks me if I came from the beach, and I explained that I swim dogs around the corner ... but I do swim a lot in the ocean, too, in fact, I train a lot [insert brief explanation of all I do ...] Instead of usual glazed look I get, he looks bright and alive. "Well, it really shows," he says, "I mean, you look great ... model material, I'm tellin' ya!" Obviously he's as much of a flirt as I am--and I'm sure being dripping wet helped-- This is definitely the cue for me to give him my number, which just happens to be on my AIDS Marathon contribution card. So I whip it out, tell him why I run marathons, and he says, "That's so awesome." I add that my NUMBER is on it and he should feel free to call anytime if he has questions. "Oh, I will, I will ..." So maybe he will or he won't, and maybe he'll contribute or he won't, but I am SO JAZZED UP by Gail's challenge and the experience that I'm now off to hunt my next victim. Thank you, Gail!!!!! You're helping to save me, save some worthy guy from getting a girl less worthy than me , and helping to save people in L.A. living with AIDS. How cool is all that?!?!? This thread is completely awesome even without all the hottie and hottette pictures. It just made me giggle when I saw it though. |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Don't think I didn't just waltz into the cafe and try the same thing on the YUMMY YOUNG cashier. He did say he sees me come in there all the time and introduced himself, but it kind of wasn't the appropriate situation to either get him to say I'm hot, or say so myself (especially with people in line behind me). Plus, with my luck, he'd be 17 and I'd get arrested or something. BunnyB - 2007-10-17 5:39 PM Damn, are you just TRYING to make the rest of us look bad, Yanti?! Although, thanks to Spokes we seem to be a little off balance - We NEED more guy pics - Hottie's of course! Interesting challenge - talk to a Hottie - I'll give it my best shot when I go to dinner tonight. I'm headed for home tomorrow! It's been a great trip, but I am ready to go home. |

I was seriously worrying about you, first unable to identify that hot guy in the pool despite the fact he's the head coach of our tri club, you miss the morning nudity show at the Speed Circuit b/c you're talking with the dogs, and then you give me some lame excuse about not looking at the boys' faces, which doesn't fly with me since these boys wear their names in prominent places: http://flickr.com/photos/18295408@N00/271764320/in/set-72157594331854868/ Now keep up the good work!!! |

WE ARE 50% DONE WITH THE MONTH SO WE SHOULD ALL BE 50% OR BETTER TOWARD THE GOAL--EXCEPT BETH WHO HAD TO LET THAT INJURY HEAL. THE BORDER COLLIE OF THE TEAM IS GOING TO VISIT LOGS EVEN MORE SO THERE BEST BE A LOT OF THAT LITTLE RUNNING DUDE ON EACH LOG!

Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Hey, gang, don't stress about % -- yet. One odd thing about these volume challenges is that they don't assume any periodization. Good training should include build and recovery, so some weeks will be high and some will be low volume, and if you are following any training program you likely have some mix of intensity and volume (e.g., I am doing less mileage next week than this week, I think, but there's more hills, more progressive tempo, more speed work, and a longer long run -- I'm working harder, but the scoring on this challenge isn't likely to reflect that; don't yell at me Cat, just an observation not a criticism). So not everyone should be at 50% yet...and in fact I'd be disappointed if y'all were up around 70% so early in the month. I know I'm not that high WRT my own goals. Also, another odd thing (from a basic competition standpoint) is that people can add onto their goals all the time -- so some person (from another team of course) could easily set a low goal and then just keep upping it (not necessarily sandbagging, just w/o much of a clear idea of what they can or should be able to do in a month), clearly hitting 100% without effort, whereas others could somehow systematically plan the entire month. From a "get out there running" standpoint, the first method is definitely preferable since you just keep going and going and that's what we're here for, really, but for those of us who like to pick the most appropriate goal and then stick to it, mid-challenge numbers and accolades for those who have the current highest % can be discouraging. Remember (modified from Roger Young, cycling coach at the LAVelodrome), plan your run, then run your plan. That's the way to build strength and to avoid injury. Edited by gailg 2007-10-17 9:08 PM |
