Julie - you have a way of motivating everyone around you. You have a good heart!

Emerson - I really love the picture, I like putting a face to a name and it's hard to see you in your avatar. I would love to come visit sometime, but so far this year it will be D.C., Florida, VA., KY and a cruise somewhere - I want to go back to Key West and the Bahamas like last year, but we may go to Sandals all inclusive in Nassau.

Pam - we will be cheering you on Sunday...Kick butt girl, you know what I'm talking about!!!

Eric - your a busy person, good job getting such good workouts in around a crazy life.

Mike - Thanks for checking in on me and the well wishes about my daughter, she has been doing 2 hours a day aqua-jogging, she wanted me to ask you if the athletes you see doing it wear the float belt on their back or just jog with no support? Thanks. We get the test back today from the bone scan and it will tell her more of the extent of the fracture, we are hoping for good news.

Just for everyone... I love when you put pictures up is really is neat to see everyone and their familys...

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!! Stay safe.

Well my fellow triathlon junkies...here is what is going on...

My first race of the year is an indoor triathlon on Sunday...so 4 days and counting. The race is highest distances wins...so they add the distance from 30 minutes of swimming, biking, and running. I am out for revenge this year...I took last place in my AG last year and it isn't going to happen again!!! Soo all the support I can get...the better

We're expecting great things out of you. With this team behind you, you'll do great!

Thanks Eric...talk about no pressure I am getting really excited.  Major race excitement.  I need to keep it in check though...otherwise I will go nuts before Sunday!

Hi everyone...another day in the pool for me...that is two this week...and even planning on tomorrow...I am gonna swim some sets soon...you just wait and see! I actually swam 100m without stopping or dropping to the bottom! hehe

I will be listing a few items in the BT auction today and tomorrow....hope you will participate....by either bidding or donating items. It is a great cause and I believe it is a tax write off.

Hope everyone is reaching those short term and long term goals....if not, let us know where we need to kick you! hehe

Have a great evening all! run bike and swim like no other! I hope for others sake that I swim like no other...my style surely can't be pretty! )

Happy Thursday...I'm back from my self-imposed sabbatical and mental health day yesterday.  Weather is beautiful again today since I'm committed to masters and can't go ride outside.  Had a chance to ride yesterday and it started raining.  Nice!

Thanks for all the jokes and support about cutting my ride short to plan my wife's birthday.  This is more that just a birthday.  It is a celebration of 5,50 and a 5K.

She will be 50, that is a big deal.  I had so much fun at my party that my daughter had to drive me home from the dinner.

She will be 5.  Five years ago, I found her on the floor and she almost died from a massive stroke.  We celebrate her 5th birthday as a celebration of the gift of a second chance at life.  The speed of the paramedics saved her -- Thanks Eric and all those like you!

She, who was told she would never walk again, read again, write again or be able to ever care for herself again is training to walk a 5K to celebrate five years of life.  For her it is a two hour plus effort.

As much as I love reading all the logs, I seriously doubt that any of us have a clue what a true challenge is and I hope I have the courage to face adversity with half the character she has.

This is a photo from our Stroke Stomper walking/Running team when Peg walked her first 1K on the 1st anniversary of her survival four years ago.  She was, and still is, mostly blind, paralyzed on the left side and forgets stuff.  But our lives are full of all the richness we could ever dream of.

We have come a long way with the help of many...

I also posted this on my workout blog for tomorrow...

There is nothing I do or have ever done that compares to what it took for her to drive for a recovery that medical science said was not to be hers.

It puts clarity on the importance of our family adage listed below.

Peg is so blessed to have God and you on her side!!!!!! I dare say a lot of men would have felt sorry for themselves or drowned their sorrows in something negative, I see a postive and strong faith in your attitude. The world needs more men of character like you. Tell Peg we admire her determination to master large obsticles in her path, she's awesome!

Everyone have a wonderful Friday and weekend!!!! Let's plow through some obsticles in our path this weekend! I think for myself it is only my mind that tries to hold me back, so positive thoughts are a must...

Pam let us know how your race goes, just remember to have a smile on your face and enjoy the total experience.

Eric - how is your weekend shaping up? You have really been an inspiration to me to get my workouts in each day.

Julie - I need to get to your blog this am to be the first

Have a great weekend team!!!!!

PS on my long post.  The 5K is March 2nd...

I am flying my kids out over Easter weekend and the BIG party is 3/22.

These are members of Ladder Company #3 in Cincinnati that saved Peg's life with their fast response!  They got lots of goodies for a long time.  Our family made Ginger Bread Houses for Christmas in '03.

I can't wait to hear all about Peggy's big celebration. Sounds like you both deserve it!

I'm home playing Mr Mom today.  Mom woke up the vomit bug about an hr before I got off work this am so Maddie and I are hanging out.  I'm thinking we might try out the jog stroller today. It's only had one test ride before.  Not sure how high my motivation is today.  Karen and I had planned on doing a local 30 mile group ride tomorrow but I don't know if she's going to feel up to it now.  We'll see how my weekend actually shakes out.

Great job Julie!  That's a great accomplishment!

Mike, glad you hear you're surviving.  I have to admit that I did a mentor group last year and it fell apart pretty quickly.  The group had good intentions but never really did a good job of checking on each other. I'm only still in communication with one person from that group.  We all have been lucky to find such a strong and supportive group!

No group ride today for me...looks like trainer-ville.  24hrs into the bug, karen is finally done, hopefully, with the vomiting and diarrhea.  She's moving into recovery mode now so we won't push it.  I need to try and get in at least a short run too, but this is a recovery week so I'm not too worried.

Hey all,

I am recovering from a trip to Disneyland yesterday. It was fun. The first time we have been there. But it was a long day with no naps I did manage to get a nap time tread mill run in today.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Amy - Disney? Ooooo! Sounds like fun!

Eric - Glad Karen is getting over the icky stomach virus. Those are the worst!

Mike - How's the weather? Has it stopped snowing, or are you still shoveling the stuff? (Although, you gotta admit - it makes for an excellent workout!)

Julie - CONGRATULATIONS on the 10 mile run! Woohoo!

Lucky me the neighbor did my drive while I slept I had to work 3rd shift the night of the big storm, but I shoveled plenty a work. We got 10 inches. Supposed to snow Monday again. I'm not looking forward to that. March is nearing hopefully it will be a warmer March could use a little global warming here in Iowa. Mike

Glad you went to D-Land. Weird how when you live by a famous attraction you intend to go and then you move. Kept telling the kids we would go dig for diamonds at the only active diamond digging place in the US and never went. maybe we'll take the grandkids someday. Have a great week. Mike

Hi everyone!!!

Thanks for the support this last week!  My race report is up!  It was an amazing race and I am still feeding off the great vibes!  One of the race directors is saving me some of the posters because I have pictures and I am going to scrapbook the year so now I will have logos to put in the scrapbook.  What does everyone have planned this week?  It is a recovery week for me before I start jumping in deep.  The beginning of March starts my half ironman training and I am sooo excited!!!

Well there is supposed to be a huge ice storm coming our way this afternoon, school has already dismissed, I don't mind the snow, but the ice is a pain in the butt to drive on... So I will try to get a cold, very cold run in outside before it hits.

I think tonight and tomorrow will be a day to stay in have some hot chocolate and read a good book....

Oh yea, I can't have the hot chocolate, or I will go over my 1500 a day Hmmm Oh well I will just have coffee.

Is anyone else in for the big chill?

I'm alive....I've lost like 6 pounds since 5am today but I'm alive and that's what counts.  How sick am I (mentally, not physically)? I'm laying in bed watching the DVR of Ironman Hawaii from this year.  And the whole time, I'm thinking about how I need to be on the trainer.  I'm doing good to hold down some ginger ale and a handful of wheat thins and I'm thinking about training?????  What the hell?
