I don't really have anything to say, I just hate seeing our group towards the bottom of the page!!!

Oh, wait....  I did sign up for the "Frigid Five Miler" tomorrow.  Let's see how that goes after my last two weeks of minimal training.  This is supposed to be fun right?????

Good luck tomorrow Bennet!

I hope everyone can get some rest and recover from all their bugs. I have been quite lately just sticking to my training plan. I just can't wait to get outside every day to train. Schedule calls for about a 4 hour workout tomorrow with 2 on the trainer! I am already boared and I haven't started. Good luck and have a safe weekend!

So some of you have noticed that i only did two swim workouts this week. This is due to some medical complications. I have a doctors appointment monday afternoon to get all my rehab/physical therapy stuff going. This week will be a trial week. I will make yet another attempt to start running and biking again. If all goes well i'll be back in the challenges the following week!
Thank you all for being another source of motivation to get back into this!

I will be adjusting this schedule as the week goes along. Swim can not be done Sunday because the pool is closed. I know, according to the p[lan this is supposed to be a "drop back" week, however after my bie ride today i really don't think I can afford to.

I will prolly double all of the training above.

I did my first race today!!!!! 5K, of course. Lots of people passed me on the first mile, but I ended up passing a lot of them before the race was through. I was so confused by the end, that I don't know my time...I think I was under 30 min, and that was my goal. I used the HR monitor to control my pace and that worked great. I ran 160's first mile, and then let myself go into the low 170's til the end, when I cranked it out. I'll let y'all know my time when it is posted on the web. Weeeooo! I feel triumphant just getting to this point. Go Mama!!!

Denver was great weather today. So I headed outside to bike. I picked the wrong path. this one had lots of hills. So my HR was high. When I finished my 13.25 miles I started coughing real bad. My friend thinks it might be exercise induced asthma. I had this in the fall when I got tired also.
So due to the coughing I didn't get my swim in. At first I thought I was getting sick. But once my heart rate dropped back to normal. The coughing got less.

Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this???

My goal for this week.....

No white space on the calendar in my log.  I only have to work Thursday and Friday this week, so I have absolutely NO EXCUSE.  Unfortunately for you all, I love leaving inspires after I workout and the endorphins are kicking, so be prepared for some nagging this week!

Have a Monday....

P.S. Way to go MamaJ on the 5K.  Your first race, that is fantastic!!!!

Laura,
I get the same way every time I push myself hard. I can't get a deep breath and I cough every time I try to breath deeply. I'm actually sick and going to the doctors tomorrow. I think I'll ask him about it when I go. It seems to be worse when I workout outside in the cold too.

Sometimes, if I push REALLY hard, I puke....  Then I know I had a good workout!

Seriously though, tell us what the doctor says.

Congratulations, Julia, on your 5K.  That's so exciting!

Welcome back, Robyn.  We're glad you're back from Germany and settled in.

----------

This is a bugger for me to say, but I didn't meet my goals last week.  I got sick again.
My goals are the same as last week, except I'm breaking my yoga up into smaller segments with more frequency.  I'll have them adjusted on my Training Log page.

Last week sucked but today is my clean slate.  Here's to the first day of the rest of our training lives...

Ok group.. here's the weird thing, I still can't believe. Not only did I finish my first race in 27.19 (8.45min/mi), but I was first in my age group (40-49). I didn't even stay around to get the time, and had no idea I would even place. I don't even think of myself as athletic. I guess I need to get a little more faith in myself.

So we are off and training...

What, where and when are your first races for this season?  I know some of you have already done 5ks and such...

Lets get a list together so we know who to give the extra love to...

For me, I have a time trial in March that I am thinking about doing.  Then its a half-mary with trixie, rkreuser and the rest of BTMI in April.

Hi gang, and welcome back "Oh Exhaulted Ruler and queen of the Tri Universe!!!"

Well, i went to go out for a bike ride today, was gonna do around 45 minutes to an hour. Unfortunetly it was cut short when I gots a phone call on the cell. Normally I would have never checked it, but my grandmother is near death and I was afraid it would be my mother calling with the news. When I got stopped and and got the phone out of the bag it was my mother, but she was not calling about my grandmother. Insted she was calling to tell me the school had called my wife, and  said, "Alittle gil=rl was leaning over to give Brodie a kiss and she fell, and that her tooth went through my son's cheek."

Well, needless to say, I set a new top speed on the bike  all the way to the house. I thew on some jeans (over the bike shorts) and prolly set a new T-2 record. I took off to my my mother's house and found my son in his grandfathers lap. The cut was not all the way through, and was actually pretty minor. Here he is on his second birthday, and gets attacked by some little girl trying to steal his sugar. LMAO.

Ok, I missed my first workouts last weekend because I got sick. I can't seem to get over it, so my challenge this week is to get better so I can get back to training by Monday. I find that when I push myself to much as soon as I start to feel better that it all comes back and worse. Sad though...I miss the schedule and the feeling after completing a workout. Have a great week!

Hope you're feeling better, Heather --- and whoever else is out there sick and/or injured.

I finally got to do some real swimming in the pool last Friday and it was blissful. Really, when I don't swim I'm a real witch to live with (ask my husband). When I DO swim -- life is so good!

Plus, I found some tri clothing on sale at 70% off at a local swim shop. I bought some bike shorts, a cute two piece tri suit TYR brand (ladies you'll appreciate this) and a full wetsuit, a bike shirt for my husband and another top for biking for me --- all for $200! It's a tri wetsuit, too. Normally $175 . I thought I got a pretty good deal and I won't be cold in this ocean water here. The temp now is 57 degrees. the first lake race I'm planning, the water is about 68 -- The bay/ocean warms up to a balmy 60 something by May when the tri starts.

At least I'll be well dressed -- Like in the Finding Nemo movie -- just keep training, just keep training, just keep training...Just keep swimming...

Oh -- BTW -- thanks for the nudge to do the nutritionlog everyone. It's very cool.

~Lynn

And, Welcome back Robyn -- Wie gates? (Is that how you spell it? High school German was a long time ago)
