Hi Tyler,
I have been sober for almost 3 years now.
I used a book called "Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Drinking".
Most people think it's a crock and it can't work.
I'm here to tell you that it works, and it works well.
I had to reread parts of the book a few times to get the message; I quit and I don't have to live my life day to day.
I've been sober for 3 years, and I haven't ever had a craving for alcohol.
I've used his book to stop smoking as well.
Myself, my wife, and one of my good friends have used the Stop Smoking book and all three of us have quit smoking for almost 10 years.
AA is a good route for support, especially for those who have access to it.
The support network can't be underestimated, but at the end of the day it's up to you how you want your life to look.
Alcohol is an addictive drug, just like heroin and cigarettes.
I know you don't underestimate its destructive power.
Just don't underestimate how good your life can be without it.
Whatever works for you, do it.
Just do it now, and get on with living your real life.
cheers,
Danger
