Race schedule:

I thought about doing the Kings Park 15k this morning but didn't.
Mini Mighty Man April
Long Island Marathon, May 2
North Fork Century - June
Mighty Hamptons Olympic - Sept 12 (11?)
Cow Harbor 10k - ??

Today it was pouring rain. I went to the gym for a swim and a run. At 7 am, the pool was full (2 per lane, I'm not going to try to circle swim) except for one lane with the guy doing a combination of fly and freestyle (not alternate laps - at the same time, it was weird and I just wasn't going to deal with any of it.)

Tomorrow it will rain all day again. I have to do 18 miles and I just can't do that on the 'mill. I'm going to do laps around the house and hope I don't get too hypothermic. Its going to be fun.

I was hoping to get out on my bicycle for the first time today, but again, not in the rain.

Good thing though is that its been consistently in the 40's and sometimes 50's, so spring is getting close!

My race schedule is pretty simple right now

This Sunday - ING 1/2 Marathon in Atlanta

May 21st - Half IronMan - Orlando.

Nothing scheduled after that. My focus is on that May HIM. This weekends 1/2 marathon is a goal but just a little one. I will see how things go if I will do more after the May HIM..

Today was my last long run before my 1/2 marathon this weekend. I did 10 miles today in 1:43 mins. Around a 10.4 min mile. It was suppose to be at race pace. That may be all I have for now. Not sure if I can add three miles to that at that pace. My real goal for this weekend is to finish but I have a silent goal of 2.5 hours. We will see.

You guys are doing great. Keep up the good work and I hope the weather breaks for all of us soon

Its been almost sunny today. Really its just not p!ss!ng down rain, but its better than nothing. I started my 18 miler this morning, but my heartrate rose quickly and I got tired pretty fast. It was odd, but I knew I wasn't going to make it. Finished one lap (~7.5 miles) and turned towards home. I'll just get back on the plan tomorrow and keep plugging away.

In a little while its off to my Sicilian aunt's for a St. Patty's day dinner of corned beef and cabbage. Undecided

Finally back. 4 1/2 weeks lost to some mysterious virus that took 7 Dr. Appointments, about a gallon of blood, an MRI and CAT scan. Al turned up nothing. What I do know is that I'm finally feeling well enough to work out.

Hoped on the bike on the trainer today. 40 min, 10 miles. Nothing major but almost feel like I'm starting from scratch. Hopefully after a couple of weeks I'll be back to where I was before I got sick.

Been staying up with log. Seems to have lisghtened up over last couple of weeks.

Well Phil (Stoops), here is my schedule.

SBR Sprint Tri at Harriman State Park.
(still waiting for them to post the actual date)

NJ Olympic Tri - July 26

Longhorm 1/2 IM, Austin TX. - October 1th (this one is tentative)

Be well everyone,

Phil B. (broonsy)

6 miles on the dreadmill today!!!!!!! I must say having a plan has made it so much easier. It used to be: ok today I'm going to run, let's try for 4 miles, and if I don't make it oh well. Now it's: they calender says 6-7 miles...get moving. I did it in 62:30, my range went from 4.1 (walking while I took some shot blocks for about 2 minutes at the halfway point) to 7.3 at the end. I just gotta keep this momentum up for a few more weeks before the half mary! Hope everyone's weekend went well!

Excellent work everyone...

ok, new poll today:

What are the top 3 tunes you're listening to on your iPod/MP3 player during your workouts?

I MUST have my tunes for the 'dreadmill' runs and when I lift....doesn't work so well in the pool...haha. I know of products that are for swimming but I haven't quite bitten the bullet yet...

1How you like me now? - The Heavy (you may have heard this song on the Hyundai car commercial with the Yo-Gabba-Gabba guys during the Super Bowl...excellent tune...)

2) Amazing - Kanye West (my hip/hop entry...always keeps me motivated...'It's amazing, I'm the reason, everybody fired up this evening...')

3The Seeker - The Who (yep, a little classic rock too...)

Phil

No danger of that I only listen to the tunes when I run on the treadmill..

Saturday I started feeling bad and by yesterday I felt Really Bad. Flu like symptoms but no fever. I figured since I didnt have a fever I'd take it easy and do 5 miles easy. 1 mile out I said NO WAY!! I hurt like I had just ran about 50 miles so I returned to the house grabbed a snack, hot bath, told my wife I was sick and went to bed.

Today went to the doctor they tested me for flu but don't got that mabe cold or sinus infection so they gave me a pack of antibiotics to take. I hope this gets me better real quick cause 4 weeks out from my 25k I cant afford time off.

Nice run Ryan Id have died about 1/2 way through that treadmill session...

IF your on the Z-Pack. It will help you fast. My wife is a pharacist and I have taken a bunch of them in the past few years. They work like magic. I hope you get better man. I had the same crap a few weeks ago. I know how you feel...

I'm still hanging around, sorta like a bad cold!

Been continuing training, etc. Work been a little busy, as well.

Looks like the hard-corers of the group are moving along. I've been checking in daily, when possible.

Cool

Phil

I just want to say thanks for the song suggestion. I hate Kanye West. I think the dude is a complete @zz and I dont particularly care for rap either but "Amazing" is a pretty decent song.

Random decision today: Middle Earth 10k in Bridgewater, NJ on Sunday!! With the nice weather I just couldn't pass a race up before the half mary. I did 7.4 miles at the park today and am going to take it easy till the race with some light biking. Just looking to finish really and get my competitive spirit back after this crazy winter!!

Good luck in your race Kristen.. I have my half marathon this Sunday. Looks very possible for rain. That would be just great. Undecided

Did stroke lessons yesterday afternoon. Still working on my stride. Mostly my head position and body position. Getting better. Did some timed 50 meter swims trying to get my consistency down.

Today, I have a 30 mile bike ride. Weather should be great for it outside. I was suppose to do it yesterday and rest today but the weather was bad yesterday and I wanted to get outside so today it is.. Tomorrow is swim/run then rest on Saturday before my race on Sunday.

Im getting a little excited now. Ready to get at it.

You guys have a great day. I have fish to catch.
