Figured I should share:

I finished my first 1/2 marathon, and it wasn't pathetic. Sure, the last two km were tough, but isn't that to be expected?

No race report, just a time: 1:47.12

Hi James

Hope everyone is well and training hard.

I have 2 and a bit weeks till the Paris Marathon now so finally getting to the fun bit.

Earlier this week I did my peak run - did 33km in just under 3:15 so all going well this should see me go close to my goal of 4 hours assuming all goes to plan and the wheels don't fall off completely with 9k to go. I have recovered really well from that run which is positive. I have shocking arch and instep pain and left knee pain for the last few km and for the rest of the day after my long runs but it comes good with a couple days rest and some physio so hopefully it shouldn't affect me too much during the marathon.

My longest run between now and Paris is 20k so I am sure to enjoy the next 2 weeks training much more than I have the last months!

I have been flat out trying to get my business sorted so I can comfortably leave it for 2 and a half weeks plus all the organising that goes into leaving children home with family and friends (I won't do another trip without the kids - the anxiety is killing me!!).

I am looking forward to getting back and doing some shorter faster running and some bike, swimming, weights and taekwondo. I've been missing all of that but with my dodgy hip have had to leave all that alone in order to get to Paris.

When I was at the Y Tuesday I saw a notice for a meeting to gauge interest in joining a new tri club so I am going along to that - fingers crossed it happens as the club is only 20 minutes from home.

The weather should be looking up for you guys by now so I hope you are enjoying some sunshine.

I look forward to hearing how everyone else is getting on.

Hey, I was just going to post to see how things are going in prepping for the marathon.

You are definitely ready for this.  You have trained hard - and trained right - and I expect nothing but a great report after race day.

Oh, and enjoy Paris, too!

Hey Michelle, so when does your "vacation" to Paris actually begin?  So we can make sure and get all the inspires in before you leave the country!

Hey Tim,

I leave on the 2nd of April Aussie time and the marathon is on the 5th!!!

On another note last night I went to a meeting at my Y last night - they were hoping to get a tri club started up and after the turn up last night it is going ahead - whoo hoo!!

I put my hand up to go on the committee as they needed a full committee before it could get off the ground. We officially begin the day after I get home!!!

This is the timetable (can you tell I'm excited!!).

Monday: Rest or workshops with guest speakers

Tues: 7pm swim

Wed: 5.30pm run

Thurs: 7pm swim

Fri: 5.30pm track run

Saturday: 7am track bike session  4pm Open Water swim

Sunday: 7am road bike session  4pm Long run

How cool is that!! My 10 year old can join too as they have a jnr coach just for the kids and my hubby is keen to start too.

After training solo for so long I really can't wait to get into these sessions so I'll rest up after the Marathon so I am good to go for the first week. All the training is 20 minutes from home, swimming is where I swim already, running is where I run already plus a few new venues as well.

How is everyone else going??

That's awesome about the tri club and about you volunteering.  I know what you mean about having trained solo for so long and wanting to train with others.  I'll be joining our tri club in the next month and am looking foward to the Saturday SBR training...I think.

OK, so we've got a few days before you leave.  Good.  Plenty of time to encourage you.

I hope I am finally back from my hiatus...started my new job today and still got home at a decent time and got a good run in.  It felt great having a "normal" day for a change.  I haven't worked a day job since 1996!  I will catch up with everyone soon and hope you all are doing well and getting your workouts in better than I!!

LOL...I know I'm not the best swimmer, but I thought I could still make some observations.  Turns out, since then, I've learned that I may have been wrong.  Just kinda felt like a moron.  That's all.

A big Hello to everyone and good to be back. I dropped off a bit this past month with a case of the winter duldrums, but the weather is picking up now along with my motivation.

I did my first Tri in 16 yrs last Sunday, an indoor triathlon with my son so be sure and check out my race report/photos. We had a good time and it was good to see where my fitness level is going into this season. Although I feel good about my performance I see I still have some work to do !

  Hope everyone is doing well

Mark

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say thank-you for all of your support over the past year or so.

I am flying out for Paris in a couple hours so this will be the last chance I have to say thanks and goodbye.

I'll let you all know how I go when I get back.

Wish me luck

Yeah, the new site looks great!  It seems that a lot of the change is cosmetic, but I do love how they've changed up the Training Settings.  Much more user-friendly.

Ha ha.  I joined a challenge in the Challenge Forum and my team is X-Men.  Plus, I'm a huge, HUGE, fan so changing-up the pic to Wolverine wasn't a huge sacrifice.
