pfoley58 - 2010-08-19 7:25 AM I didn't get to see the game because I'm away, but from what I read, the winning goal was shot somewhere around the 46th min and took the entire length of the second half to cross the line.

It's been a particularly bad season for the Revs, so losing away on not shocking.

Yeah, it was definintely a slow roller.  Surprised it caught Reis off guard.  Scored by a sub that had not played all year and I don't remember the last time Carr scored.  We needed that win, desperately.

I like Fox Soccer channel in HD. About time!......games Saturday were abysmal - the ones with the top 4 playing anyway....If you set yourself up to draw and concede a goal at least change tactics and try to get a result.....West Ham, Stoke etc are just pathetic...if you pencil in these games as a loss or at best a draw why not just throw caution to the wind and have a real go at getting a result....as a chairman at these clubs I'd have to tell them to man up and grow a pair..you wont get fired for getting beaten 4 or 5-0....are they singing on the bus on the way home because it was only 2-0...I bet not.....then you have Wigan who beat Spurs without really trying....and Blunderland beating Man C$$y...justice

This season is wide open...there will be upsets etc for the big 3 ..or 4 depending on who you throw in that slot..and some of the misses so far in front of goal have been hilarious!

I've been on vacation, so haven't had any chance to catch any EPL action yet. But I did see that the Sounders beat Chicago in second half stoppage time though

Why?....

Just not convinced he is the right person for the job.  I wasn't going into the WC but gave him the shot.

I personally don't think we lived up to our ability in the tournament.  But that is me.

Unfortunately, I'm not entirely certain there is someone else out there that we could get either.

Given what he has to work with regarding talent and availability for building a cohesive team etc....( players all over the globe)..I think he did ok. Paying a Capello 10X as much would lead to very similar results IMO....as an example see how the Middle East or African teams hire "name" coaches and continue to fail. Its systemic and not easily remedied by just adding a quality coach.

True.

And you are right. I think it goes back to that series of articles on ESPN last year about our system for youth talent as well.

*sigh*

Just want to see us in the Semi's sooner rather than later.

That was a pretty cool look at it.  Very different from professional owners over here who seem to constantly harp on the bottom line.  It seems some of those teams are basically a really expensive toy of the uber wealthy.  Sort of like a monster yacht.  Pay a ton for it, keep paying for it to keep it running.

At least UEFA is attempting to do something about it as it relates to participating in the Champions League.  But that is only one competition.

And you are right, we have seen it coming for quite a while now.  Literally eating itself from the inside out.

I am going to have to dig to find it, but I seem to remember an agent in the EPL saying something about it not being his, or the players responsibility to NOT ask for more money, it was up to the owners to say no and that if they did, then he would fight them on it because he didn't care if they had the $ or not, his player deserved it.  In other words, he could care less what happens to the league or team as long as his player got what was "owed" him.

On a completely seperate note.  Talk about a complete melt down by Seattle last night against Monterrey in CONCACAF.  WOW!  2-0 up at the 75 minute mark to then go and give up 3 goals in the span of about 6 minutes, including a PK, to lose.  WHOOPS!

Watched the Man City/Chelsea game this morning. I thought both defenses looked good and Tevez gets the game winner. I'm just glad because I don't want to see Chelsea run away with the league--at least not this early.

its the wrong thing to do if you are still trying to build the enthusiasm in the sport in North America...its a great rivalry and one that should be perpetuated..

Its like separating Brazil and Argentina in the South America qualifiers....

Agreed.

I guess I can see how it is beneficial to the little minnows in CONCACAF in the long run but it has the potential to do some real damage to the US program.  And the Mexico one too, for that matter.

I see no sense in this. CONCACAF has always been bad and Mexico always wanted to switch to CONMEBOL but this is just ridiculous. those games we the only ones people here in Mex expect. the only ones with more ''danger'' and now what. cool lets play guatemala.? I think in the end it wont succeed cause of all the money involved.

Ugh!  I knew it was going to be a tough year for Liverpool but I didn't think it was going to be this bad.  *sigh*

They keep this up and they are going to get relegated.

Knee jerk reaction is to fire " Woy"- but I dont see him as the problem...unmotivated players with no passion for the shirt is a bigger issue....Torres is uninterested..time to go...there is no adequate replacement though so Pool is in for a tough time

On the Arse/Chelski game...tough for the Arse..played better but could not finish and were punished by a couple of great goals....still see Manure and Chelski as the lead pack...
