Flat as a pancake.  Plus the weather looks good so far - high 40s/low 50s and sun.  So I'll just go out there and do the best I can and see what happens.

Hey guys, it has been a while (I think a month).  I will try to catch you up.  I was pretty sick again for abotu 2-3 weeks and could not run or swim.  A nasty chest cold has kept me down most of the year.  However, the past couple of weeks I have started to get back in the gym again with some minor setbacks (like showing up for a swim at 5:15am to find the pool closed).

I have tried to catch up on all the postings and will do my best to keep up.  Unfortunately, the 100 pushup challenge for me stopped when I got sick.  I will be restarting it next week.

I also had a slight change in my work life.  My business unit at Caterillar announced yesterday 29 layoffs (out of 205 people).  I am not affected by the layoffs but I am taking about a 10% paycut (through what they are calling rolling three rolling layoffs for 1 week at a time).  I am blessed to still have a job and hope that nothing more will change.  On a good note, I will have three weeks off the spend with my family and train this summer/fall.

I hope that everyone has a great day and I will do my best to keep you all up to date and encourage you, I have been severly SLACKING in that department.

Good to have you back!  And don't worry, you aren't the only one who has dropped off in the 100 push up challenge.  Glad your feeling better, and really glad to hear you didn't get caught in the layoffs.  We're still trying to find a job for my wife, so I know how tough it is out there right now.

Welcome back Eric!

Have a great race, Samantha!

I'm just keeping up the base - or trying to, that evil flu butting against seasonal allergies has taken me down a notch over the past two weeks.

Had a great long ride on Wednesday (it was sunny - pics on my log), lots of swimming on tap for the weekend.

Have a great weekend all.

Hi!  I hope everyone's having a great weekend.

I did the 5K this morning.  Finished in 30:17, which I was very happy with.  It felt good too.  Nothing hurt during the race, and nothing is sore now.  Yea!

Hi Group - Just got back home from the race.  WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finish time 1:58:00. I am soooo happy.  When you don't have a chance of actually winning a race, there is no better feeling then making your goal.

It was some work - I had HR issues from the first step.  I learned 2 things:  1) I didn't quite train as hard on my tempo runs to be comfortable at that pace and 2) I can push my body for 2 hours at Zone 3 HR (10 miles) then Zone 4 to 5A for the last 3.1.  And live to tell about it.  I'll get my race report up ASAP but I may need to finish sometime tomorrow.

Have a great week!

Samantha, AWESOME job on the 1/2.  I hope that I can keep up that pace when and if I do my 1/2 in October.

So, are we finally getting rid of all the germs?

Recovery week for me!  Yea!  I'm feeling pretty good about my training.  This is week 8 of my plan, and I am starting to notice the improvement.  *Look, a muscle!*

How's everyone doing?

Funny you should mention that.  I woke up this morning with those GERMS and my head was completely glogged.  I could not breathe.  I was never this sick until I had kids, they seem to hang on to the germs longer.  My head is still stuffy and I think I have a sinus issue, but hopefully I can get my swim in later today.  I just did not want to drown this morning because of my head cold.

Ok, so finally... here is the promised picture of the sunburn I managed to get a few weeks ago.  This is what happens on a 75 mile ride in a tri top with no sunscreen.  It surprisingly didn't hurt that bad, but the itching at about day 4 was almost unbearable.

who's a HORRIBLE teammate? I am!

WOOOOOOOOOOW, really sorry gang.

I honestly got totally wrapped up in my training for my olympic race last sunday and then the subsequent week of nothing that followed.
But as the sun sets and rises, im back on my grind, and started my new plan today!

I hope everyone is doing well and that they are training hard.
My olympic went well, finished in 2:52, with the longest part being the bike at 1:30, swim and run were solid for me, transitions were nasty but first wetsuit race.....

I am now transitioning to the 10 week intermediate olympic plan with hopes to trim that time down to under 2:30 for my next oly. and I added in marathon training as my "run training" as i have now set my sights on the marathon in december down here in south florida as my goal! hoping for around 4:00 on that bad boy.

anywhooooo, i feel very bad and i promise to be a much more active participant moving forward.

So...whos got races coming up!

I got my next, a sprint, on april 19th, im gonna push real hard and hope to podium for my age group(25-29) which is never easy, but i think with the extra bike time i could do it.

Then after that I got another olympic to test myself and see if i improved...from there just the marathon at the end of the year, unless i start HIM training in 10 weeks, then maybe the Miami Man 1/2 in November.
