Extreme Veteran 1648 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed I actually got in two workouts today before 10AM. I went to master's and they did a simulated OWS which was fun. Then I got a 3 mile run in. I'm really closing in on entering the half marathon at the end of Oct. Also, my husband is going to take our daughter to a family reunion and I'm going to do the Xterra he's signed up for that weekend. The race was actually my New Year's Resolution last year and I didn't do it since he had to go to China for work and I didn't want to crash off my bike if I was the sole parent here. I didn't sign up this year bc it was supposed to be early June and I hate cold water. Due to a forest fire they had to move it, and well, I guess I'm going to do it. |

Shooting for 2 swims and 2 bikes per week during this phase with a short high intensity effort, and a long slow is smooth effort in both. 206.5 lbs this morning. up 1 with the poor pizza choice and the three IPA's from a brewery in Utah, Uinita breweries Hop Notch. Decent. Goal is to be 204.5 tomorrow. Have a great day Beer drinkers, Go get a workout in! Those are some serious training and weight goals. Good luck meeting them. I wish I could lose weight that quickly! I guess I make too many poor food choices. Also, thats a really good 5K time. What do you expect to run when you meet your weight goal? Have a good one!!! 1 word to describe your pace Kevin....fast! David was right when he called you Usain Bolt of distance. How is the weight going? Maybe jump on the train and get the LoseIt app with David, Jared, and myself. It seems to work well. |

Does everyone go through the feeling of laziness with the short and easy workouts? I know it's necessary before a race but I feel like I'm not doing anything. I have the butterflies even now and can imagine what it will be like in the next few days. |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open Call me dense but I can't for the life of me figure this out or find a clear answer on google. With the 910xt quick release do I buy a 1/8 turn or a 1/4 turn barfly for aero bars? Now now now no jokes about me being clueless since I'm sure it's simple logic which I lack Edit: NVM my question I see now there is only 1 barfly that fits aerobars. Is this right or am I still missing something? Edited by Burd 2013-06-30 1:24 PM |

I don't track as of yet, but just make an overall commitment to eating healthier. Way fewer bad carb choices, way more vegetables and fruits supplemented with good meats and proteins. I've also cut out the adult style bevi's to 1 every 2 days. |

Last year, I was in the same boat but taking a break will really help you have a great race. Cut yourself a little slack the next time that "I should be doing something" feeling strikes you and try to imagine yourself in the race using all that stored energy to thoroughly enjoy yourself. Kevin made a great point about tapering a few months ago when he said to hit your shortened workouts hard - at near race pace. If you do that - you will be sending your body a message that it's time to step it up. You are gonna do great! |

I guess there is no reason you can't leave it on the whole time but I'm afraid of it getting kicked off and $400 sinking to the bottom of the ocean. If it's in my cap there is no where it can go. This is all theory on my part based on what I have read since I only swam solo with mine so far (truth be told I swam with it on my wrist). It does look real sharp on my stem with the QR, nice and clean, that's why I want the same for the aero bars when they get here. |

And nutrition, nutrition, nutrition. I've been really disappointed with my food lately - my wife and I have both been struggling. Weight is staying constant, but that's not what I want to be seeing right now. We've both re-committed for July, so my real goal is to just own this month and get to my racing weight. I'm hoping to see 175lbs on race day (August 11). |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open I know Thor is usually the one to put up a monthly challenge - but I have a good idea for a challenge. Since we are all trying to watch what we are eating this month, why do we shoot to see how many days we can eat within our calorie limit while giving ourselves one or two free days a week. There are 23 weekdays (that's when I try to stay under my limit). So if other people want to join me, my current total is 1/23. As Bluto once said, Who's with me? Let's go! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open Yesterday I was able to get in a ride for the first time in a while. The 9 miles felt pretty good and I was surprised how fresh my legs felt considering how hard I pushed it during the race this weekend. I'm hoping to get in a run and a swim today (nice and slow). As I gear up for my HIM in 10 weeks, I'm going to try to under train with the goal of staying off the DL. As Kevin correctly pointed out recently, I always go all out when training for something big and often end up injured and missing a week or more of training. So, I'm going to see if I can avoid injury for the next 2 months by doing the minimum and by listening to my body instead of following a plan where I add 10-15% each week. Since I'm behind the 8 ball thanks to missing nearly all of June with the pulled rib muscle, I figure I've got nothing to lose. Hoping to get a slow run and swim in today so I can enjoy a few tasty beverages this evening. My 80 year old parents are coming to the summer cottage and I'm gonna need all the help I can get!!! |
