I just want to say thanks for the song suggestion. I hate Kanye West. I think the dude is a complete @zz and I dont particularly care for rap either but "Amazing" is a pretty decent song.

Oh, I agree...but that song is one that just keeps me going...lol.

Kristen8040 - 2010-03-16 5:12 PM ok, new poll today:

What are the top 3 tunes you're listening to on your iPod/MP3 player during your workouts?

Till I Collapse - Eminem

Tick Toc - Kesha

What you know about little secrets - t.i remix

Mostly pop/top 40 and hip hop

"Till I Collapse'...how appropriate....

With the nice weather I just couldn't pass a race up before the half mary. I did 7.4 miles at the park today and am going to take it easy till the race with some light biking. Just looking to finish really and get my competitive spirit back after this crazy winter!!

Excellent choice!!! Looks like the weather is going to be nice this weekend..(I'll be in Ft Lauderdale)

Team Stoop Dog,

I'll be out of pocket from tomorrow (Sat) through Weds...headed to Florida for a few days. Won the AT&T sales contest for the Northeast Region so I get to go hang out w/ the big wigs.

Have a great weekend training!

Well folks, decided to get a TT bike. Ordered a 60cm (I am a 6'4" clyde) Cannondale TT bike last weekend. Our local cycling community has weekly Time Trials during summer. Gonna try & do several. Something new for me. Satisfy my competitive spirit and get used to new aero position.

Oh well, off to spin I go.

Weather is improving...Hopefully bike outside within the next month. I can run in cold, but the windchill of cycling in cold is too much! The snow is off streets, sidewalks are clear , just a matter of a few degrees higher & I'm good to go.

R

PS. Kristen posted a few pics in the girls of BT thread (in COJ) & neglected to inform us!!!! We coulda been her cheering section!!

RACE REPORT!!!!

haha happy Sunday everyone!

Today was my Middle Earth 10k in Bridgewater, NJ at Duke Island Park.

woke up at 6:30, took a shower and was out the door at 7:00, the drive was about an hour and a half, ate my luna bar and drank some water and gatorade. I got there around 8:30 and registered. Went to the bathroom 4 times (a combo of too much water and nerves lol) and waited for the race to start at 9:30. IMO it was nice having a later start than the usual 7:30 tri start. This was my first race with no one there, my fam was going into NYC to see riverdance and my fiance was at work, a bit of a downer, but I know I have to get used to it.

Race started a little late, around 9:40 and we were off and running, about 350 runners! The one thing I found annoying was that there was no timing chips or mat, so if you started towards the back like me, it took a bit to get up to the actual start, and the beginning was slow with everyone together.

Finally fell into my pace at mile one and was timed at 10:04, mile two was 18:55 which was awesome! Got to the turn-around at mile three timed at 29:45 still on pace to make my goal of under 60:00. Started getting a lower ab. cramp at mile 3.5, but tried to keep the pace up. Got to mile 4 at 39:52, still under but getting close, only two miles left!!

The course was in a beautiful park along the river with some shade along the way, very scenic! I get to mile 5 and my time is 49:57, still cutting it close but I knew I was soooo close!! I picked up the pace and could see the straight away to the finish in the distance!! Then terror strikes, they put a horseshoe at mile 6 NOOOOOOOOO I kind of felt like all that pushing was a waste but I had to keep going. Once I got out of the horseshoe, there really was the finish line. I sprinted as fast as my tired legs could take me and saw the clock. I was so confused reading it, it looked like it said 10:49 secs. but I knew that was wrong. Got closer and saw it said 1:01:54 secs. (unofficial) as I crossed the line.

Honestly I was bummed. I tried so hard to go under 60:00 but I think that last .2 really kicked my butt. Overall though I was pleased with my race, I kept my pace and didn't go out too fast. I am a little worried because I was pretty tired after it, but I figure all that means is that I have to slow my pace up even more for the half mary. I didn't walk at all and I didn't come near last which I thought was pretty cool!

As for my events I am doing most are up in the air the one I am signed up for is:

Atomic Man Duathlon(Fat Man (10k/40k/5k), Apr 25

Things I am seriously considering are:

Moab Grand Fondo (60 mile bike ride w/5500 ft climb), May 1
Barking Dog Duathlon or Craig to Maybell fun ride, May 8
Durango Iron Horse, May 29
The Subaru Elephant Rock (cycling not sure which distance if I do it), June 6
Big Sky Duathlon, June 12
West Side Duathlon, Jul 18
My Way or the Triway, Jul 24(Might be my first Tri if I can get my swimming up by then)

Some of it is to tight for propper training but that is what I am looking at with a couple of random runs thrown in if I find something close that I can use for training.

Long run next week is 15 miles. Have a good Sunday night all.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind comments.. It was not easy getting into the pool early this morning but I got it done. Still just a bit tired from yesterday but the pool took care of that.

William, If you mean running the second half faster thant the first (negative split), that was Nicki's deal. I had not idea. She built my plan. I just do as Im told. I was so nervous to run the Atlanta hills fast, I think I ran the first half too slow. Those hills are nothing compared to what I run up here.

I have been working on a HIM plan now for 8 weeks developed by Nicki and Phil (papastoops). I must say that she has been spot on with every single piece of advice she has given me. I know zero about any of this and I am putting all my faith in her and it has been dead on so far. Not one single complaint. Its beans for what you get out of it. I highly recommend it if your looking for a plan or coach.

Next is HIM. Then full Marathon, then full Ironman. After that, retirement. Money mouth

You guys have a good one. I have weight training this afternoon

Correct Negative split is starting slow and running the 2nd half faster. That is the way to do it.
