His 300 meter time was 2:33'ish, his T1 was about :54 seconds (bike racks were about 40 or 50 yards away!), his 8.5 mile bike including T2 was 23 and some change (with hills! mine was about 30) and his 2 mile run was 12'ish!!! His total time was 39:33, mine was 53 something. Sheesh!!! wow! that is fast - darn kids In one of my races, I was checking behind me to make a pass and notice I'd be forcing someone to draft. As usual when I look back in aero, I swerve a little, so I pulled back in my original line. The person passed me and said "sorry" as she passed. I didn't think much of it as I've been passed by plenty of females in my life. Later in the bike, I caught up to a friend and he asked if I'd seen the "13 year old girl". Immediately, I thought back to the person who appologized for passing the old, pathetic man. I did manage to catch back up to her and did confirm the "13" marked on her calf, but didn't dare attempt to pass. The worse part of this is she started at least 2 swim waves behind me and it was only a 500 yard swim. Ever since then, I've aspired to be as fast as a 13 yr old girl that's awesome |

I actually had a faster bike than the guy, but seriously, who runs a 5:15/mile pace in a tri? There is a 15 year old kid here who absolutely OBLITERATES everyone in the cycling events. Did a 40km TT earlier this year where he averaged just over 28mph. Yeah... so long brother. He's actually on the Hincapie Development Team, and his TT bike is ridiculously awesome. Good luck this weekend Bill! |

Scored a Leader frame for $199 about 6 months ago (www.leaderbikestore.com/cat_time.cfm). Since then have been putting in bids for parts on eBay...bottom bracket, cranks, derailleurs, wheels, aero brake levers, carbon fork, cassette and bar end shifters. Crank is Ultegra Octalink BB compatible If I get time this weekend, I'll post a breakdown of parts and how much they cost me off of eBay... Edited by sparco 2008-05-30 12:36 PM |

NICE ride, Sal!!!! I'm amazed at what you got for your money. Quit picking on Tiagra.... I beat you last year on a heavier bike (now it's really heavier) and all Tiagra! I'm jealous

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: Stuck in the Middle - May Challenge Who needs a front derailleur anyway? Oh, yeah. Not everyone lives in Mississippi. Can't wait to get home and see the pics, though. Werk blocks some of the most random stuff. I've been looking at those Leader frames and thinking about it. I don't have the funds to buy an entire tri-bike right now, but piece by piece might be doable. |

Wasn't trying to offend......front derailleur works just fine...just rubbing a little... Now Brett, don't go using bike weight as an equalizer this year...it's still the engine that counts...right? |

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: Stuck in the Middle - May Challenge We'll find out just how innocent when we see your pom poms in just one day Well... time to sleep, or at least try to sleep. I'm always a nervous wreck before race days. Not that I'm worried about finishing this one, but I have time goals in mind. I hit them all at my three tris last year, but they are definitely a little more agressive this year. It's the waiting to find out if your having a good day or bad day that kills me. I also have a terrible fear of oversleeping. Dreamed about it twice this week already. Got three alarms set, though. Soooo... off to try and sleep. G'night and stay strong. ONE MORE DAY!!! |
