Indeed. They made me glad I was an average height white kid and therefore of no relevance to any basketball team in my area.

Yep, ladders = suicides......

Yeah, the soccer field REALLY sucks.  I played high school soccer my first two years before I got WAY too tall and focused on basketball.  So we did suicides in both.  The worst was when the coach said we needed to finish under a certain time, and there was always that one so MO FO who couldn't do it, so we all had to do more cuz his slow arse never made it back in time.

We wanted to pull a "Full metal Jacket" on him and beat him with soap in pillow sheets....

Don't even START to think that our soccer coach wasn't so sadistic that he had us running stairs, suicides, and the school hallways during rainy practice days.

Because he was.

Our soccer team was an afterthought. No one cared about the program except the coaches and about half the players. Yes, I said half.

Spokes - 2008-05-08 7:56 AM Good morning. I think I've edged closer to a decision of sorts. I may just do the two races I'm registered for - runs - and I'm done racing. For a long time...

Excellent choice mon ami....  Happy with that?

You know what, when I did my open half mary a month or so ago, I had SO much fun!  I started thinking I may just stick to running.  Didn't need to lug around all the crap.  Just show up in running shoes (yeah, I like it that way) and GO!

5 pushups? Geez. Our coaches used to make us drop and give them 25 if they just saw us in the hallway between classes.

Ever just want to get in your car and just drive away? (come back of course!)

Every once in a while on a prefect morning (like today), I want to jump on the motorcyle or get in the car and just drive into the desert.... Maybe stop at a small town diner and get some breakfast, listen to some tunes and see the country....

i <3 cross-country road trips.

I never want to do that.  I think about going for a run on a day like that.  But not in the desert.  I do not <3 the desert.

Oh, the desert is BEAUTIFUL my love....  I have been to my fair share of remote locations in this country (had the BEST summer job EVER...).  There is so much beauty everywhere.  The forest, the planes of the midwest, mtns, and the desert......

Ummmmm, and you're a BOY. Der. =)

Should that matter? The girls were treated the same way. Girls weigh less so the concept is the same. It's a bodyweight exercise.

Then again, now that I think back I remember the season I ran cross country... that coach's idea of punishment was ten pushups. I would get them constantly. After a while I'd bust out fifty and tell her "that's for the next couple of times too".

She was never amused by that.

No, I'm not really happy with the 'decision' and its not firm. But I can't continue to bang my head against the wall on something that I'm not good at. Its going to be very hard to find motivation to continue working out if I don't have a goal - racing - to work towards.

Yeah, I'm one of those Type As that simply can't do stuff for fun. Undecided

How good do you need to be?  I figure no one is really good at anything except maybe Kobe Briant, Tiger Woods, and Tom Brady......  Everyone else is behind them....

I'm good at everything I do (compaired to the average joe), but great at nothing....  As long as I see some improvements, I'm happy.

If you base your happiness on podium spots or beating Chris McKormack, you may want to reavaulate - just saying
