I'm happy with this since I crashed my bike the last week of may which required some recovery, was on travel for work for 6 business days, and did a HIM mid June (taper and recovery). This also includes a 128 mile ride in the mountains of western Maryland (15,500 ft of climbing).. they claim the course was tougher than the toughest stage of the tour de france (from people who have done the tour route). It was an awesome experience, but soooo sooooo slow (avg 12.6 mph!). I really think that 10 hours on the bike (13 hours total time for the ride) was the best mental training I could do for the IM.. and good physical training to keep the HR around 160 for 10 hours! July, I need to run more, swim more, and bike faster (less mountains)! |
