Extreme Veteran 793 Naperville, IL | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Attended the local masters swim class this AM. Coach had me do some sets and gave me some useful pointers. At the end, he suggested all I needed was a "little tune up". Said we just needed to work on my kicking, keeping arms on proper path, body position, and rotating to breath. Hell, I'd hate to see an overhaul if that's the "little tune up". Kidding aside, it was quite useful and the tips made sense / could tell the difference immediately. As with everything involving swimming, now it's time for the painstaking imprinting process via lots of repeats. |

Wish I could find a masters program that fit my schedule. I need a 'super early bird' group that start at 5 AM, though. Did an hour on the elliptical machine today to keep the cardio going. Also walked on a treadmill for a bit, and I'm happy to report the foot is feeling good. Will do a walk/run (most walk) next Monday to see how it feels. Will miss the 1/2 mary this week, but I've decided I'm going to go at least pick up my t-shirt so the entry fee isn't a total waste How is everyone else doing? Seems we lost some momentum here the past few days!? Mike |

Veteran 243 Cuernavaca, Mexico | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Hi! I hope you are all keeping well. Mike - I'm glad your foot is feeling good. Happy anniversary! Congratulations on loosing60 pounds!! Sorry I've been away for a few days. I attended a conference and was quite busy networking in order to find a better job. But I'm back to reality now. I'm attaching a copy of what my Christmas in March looked like while I was inMemphis. I had so much Memphis food… BBQ ribs, wine and desserts. I’ll know the extent of the damage tomorrow morning when I weigh myself. LOL I hope you have a great week! PS I don't seem to be able to attach anything. Sorry, I'll try tomorrow Edited by itziaol 2011-03-15 11:52 PM |

Extreme Veteran 793 Naperville, IL | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Second masters swim class -- only 2 minutes late for 5:15 AM start! Got introduced to the torture device called "fins" today. Given that I already can not kick, the addition of a device to make it harder was quite amusing. Instructor was kind enough to let me know that my legs are sinking and that's a problem -- at least guy can see!! Kidding aside, he was quite encouraging and I can feel the drills effect on my muscles. Session was about 1400 yards for me. Just going to take time and hard work to improve. ETA -- PM easy run. Took my 13 year old along -- she crashed at just over a mile as she has not run since XC season. Run felt nice and body is responding very well. Only frustration is in the area of speed. Just doesn't seem to be coming. Edited by croixfan 2011-03-16 8:26 PM |

Veteran 612 Kennebunkport, Qatar | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Hi everyone, been far too busy lately! It is all I can do to work and train and sometimes eat, but I must be finding way too much time for that since unlike Mike, FANTASIC JOB!, my weight seems to be stagnate? I am really getting frustrated, I have been training consistently for the last 3 months and only dropped about 5 pounds and for the last month I have stayed right around 229, my goal is 215. Last night I ran 12 miles, slowly, but still hit 12 miles and felt pretty good, I was even able to walk today! I am with you Curt, my speed just doesn't seem to be coming like I hoped it would, I guess I will have to admit sometime in the near future that my age, 48, is catching up to me and I may never see the speed I would like! It is supposed to hit 50 up here today! no bike ride on schedule, but just might have to get out and enjoy it, 2 hours in the basement Saturday, thankfully it's not Mike's Silence of the Lambs basement, but it is still a basement and not the fresh Sea air! Happy belated Birthday Itzia, Congratulations on all the new toys! Keep up all the hard work everyone and have fun! |

LOL!!! And I'm betting she slept on the floor so her new gear would not have to. Still waiting for the pics on the new ride -- gears good, but the bike is what really turns the heads. |

All that's missing are the shackles. There are less creepy crime scenes in CSI. Get any little critter visitors while riding? |

Member 60 Athens, GA | Subject: RE: BB's Really Beginner Mentor Group - CLOSED Glad to see that are all doing well. The gear porn was nice. The basement is a lot better lit than any I had back in New England. Some of your weight losses are wicked impressive. As for me, I have had no motivation this week. The back of my left knee on the outside (tendon?) is being all achy and annoying. Have tried to get the acupuncturists to do her trick on it. Gonna get a massage on Monday. Hope to do a long ride outside this weekend to try out some new shoes, maybe a swim as well......... |
