Thanks Sarah. I'm starting to get nervous so I just keep pretending that it isn't coming up- lol. We are going up early to check it all out and I can't decide if I'm excited or scared. They say it's an awesome race with great schwag so it'll be good no matter what. My dd is racing the day before in the kids tri so I can't act too nervous or I'll get her worked up, so I just keep saying I'm excited. Maybe if I say it enough- I'll start to believe it- hehe. Mostly cause I can't remember it that well, but it was good. Yup we had a great time in Door. It was fun to race with a fellow Magical Mys-tri tripper. Master 1348 Gurnee, IL | Subject: RE: Oriolepwr and QuincyF's Magical Mys-tri Tour "The Sequel" -On Tour!! TLakatos1259 - 2012-07-22 7:38 PM Sarah, Thanks for your comments. Dave, I feel your pain of a tight wet suit. Hope the race went well. What I didn't mention: The scum bag who stole my inner tube and tools out of my saddle pouch while I was swimming. When the second person on the course said my bag was open, and I finally understood what they were saying, I was pissed. Reach behind me to find a completely empty pouch. Some how, I exclaimed a few things, then went back to hammering the bike ride. Guess I'm getting into this racing thing. Thankful I didn't get a flat and didn't give it another thought until after the race. Now for today, I volunteered for the Oly race of the NJ state Tri. I had another great day guiding the cyclist out, then back into transition. Now for the most interesting thing: Turns out the first guy that came back into the bike transition, with #1 on bib, also won the race. OR, so he thought! Turned out he cheated! He was found of course at point on the bike loop, then some how did something with the run. Later found out that he was disqualified, USAT event. His parents were there and trying for sponsers. He is a professional, yea right, triathlete. NO SENSE BEING STUPID, UNLESS YOU SHOW IT! Next item, some poor guy comes flying out of tranistion, areo helmet, disc wheel, and all. Makes the first right turn and pops his rear tire. Stops and replaces the tube. 5 minutes later he is almost ready to mount on his bike, and POP, the tire goes again! Fortunately, he had another tube, started to change it again. Pumped it up, said a prayer, and he was on his way to a great round of aplause from everyone near by. NEVER GIVE UP. Then a 3 person bike crash, bruised and all got up and finished. NEVER GIVE UP! Tom I missed this post somehow OMG there was this post on slowtwitch about a guy that cheated at Kona. Someone there had figured it out and called him out on the forum there. To his credit the guy admitted it and went through all that he felt after cheating and everything. maybe I can dig up a link or whatevs to it. Sorry to hear someone stole your stuff. I find that to be a very rare thing. I've gotten so nonchalant about picking up stuff in transition after the race. This past weekend raced South Shore sprint with Q and her DH (who took 3rd in my age group BTW I was 17/45) and we boozed it up and waited around for the awards. By the time we were ready to go, there was like 5 bikes left out of 1000, but I wasn't at all worried that my stuff would be there. It was. Just saying that stuff being stolen is a rarity. |

Master 1348 Gurnee, IL | Subject: RE: Oriolepwr and QuincyF's Magical Mys-tri Tour "The Sequel" -On Tour!! So I mentioned this before. The Holy Grail of Gatorade. CUCUMBER Gatorade. Interesting flavor. VERY HARD to find. After that one time I had it, I never saw it again until today. Was on a long ride with a friend. I had ONE water bottle and its HOT it's his route, I've never been on it before. He had like 3 bottles. So after not having much of my bottle he says better fill up this is the last place to get water for a while um ok filled up the bottle. Then we ride, and ride and ride and ride. Almost 25 miles later I'm like DAMN its getting HOT out here. Really hot. And I'm like on E so just where is the next place we get get water?? "That last stop we made" WHAT????? are you kidding? I could like DIE or something. So he shared one of his bottles. Nice. But didnt last that long. we turned around and basically I had to go 25 miles with no fuids/hot/sweaty to say I was thirsty is a big time understatement. They would have to scrape me off the road if I had to go much farther. So finally FINALLY we get back to that Gas station. I'm getting Ice, water, and I'm like Ya I need a big huge bottle of Gatorade. So I look and que the music The Holy grail appeared right before my eyes CUCUMBER gatorade! HA I'm so buying this SOB. But first FIRST I'm drinking the entire thing right here right NOW! lol so I did. but first I show it to my friend. You gonna try it? HELL No that sounds totally gross. Your loss and I drink the whole damn thing plus a whole bunch of water. Then while my stomach did its best to deal with what seemed like a gallon of this precious weird fluid, I burped cucumber all the way back to his house. You can just smell it. Can't you? Master 1348 Gurnee, IL | Subject: RE: Oriolepwr and QuincyF's Magical Mys-tri Tour "The Sequel" -On Tour!! Ironman Wisconsin looms for Senorita Quincyfnita and her DH so I hope she does not mind me speaking for her. Ironman is a tough long road to get prepared for, and this is the final month of training. Full of long a$$ 3 hour runs and 3,000 + yard swims. Pile on those 5-6 hour bike rides, THEN add in taking care of family etc while your DH trains for the SAME race at the same time with the same training needs and ya not much time for staying awake, let alone blogging, BT or scouring the local haunts looking for cucumber Gatorade. Hell I bet she has not even watched the latest episode of Breaking Bad or been to Costco. So rest assured she'll be along later or sooner, to share what it's all like. |
