Got an OWS in the other day at our local lake. Not sure how far but the waves were really knocking me around so good practice. I tried Lose it and found it hard to use on my phone; maybe its just me does anyone else have this issue? Aaaannnd I like to take a picture of the scan and have it down load my nutrition values does Lose it do that? Weight is ok, lost a pound or too even though I have not been allowed to train. Can't guarantee thqt will happen this week..heading to Tahoe for the holiday weekend.
Take care all!

Nice to hear you got a swim in. Loseit does have a bar code scanner built into it. The scanner is a life saver when you eat something with a bar code and can just scan it for all the info. I found it kinda hard the first day or so also but then it became real easy. Especially when I eat the same stuff it's easy to get back to.

The BT race checklist link is busted Anyone have a place to get something I can print because I know me if I don't I'll forget something.

Just had a Trois Pistoles and never knew that I liked dark beers. Well it was yummy and I'm sold.

Alex - Here is the one I use: http://triathlon.racechecklist.com/

2 things not on the list: Ice cold tasty beverage for when you cross the finish line. Also - don't forget to put a warm coors light in your car in case you don't finish. Nothing like the thought of having to guzzle crappy beer heated up to 90 degree to get your a$$ across that finish line.

I got in my swim this afternoon and have the first 2 a day workout in a LONG time. It felt pretty good.

Haven't heard anything about the challenge I posted to see how many days we could stay under our calorie limits. My goal is 23 days. So far, I am too for two.

Bike and some yoga tomorrow. More Bells Two Hearted Ale as my reward. Night everyone!

Four things:

1) Hill Intervals suck, in a good way.
2) I blew by a guy on a moped on my Sunday ride, riding my cross bike. That felt pretty good, but I was cooking pretty hard at about 22mph.
3) Got my hops vines set out and staked, so hopefully next year I'll have my own centennial hops.
4) Treat every workout like you just found out you got a lottery slot for Kona.

Good night all.

The dang program is only giving me 1600 calories to play around with. I need at least 3000-4000 calories, says this overweight food addict. With that said, I'll go in on the challenge, though I may not make it under the line much. I'm 1/2 so far. That's only because I recorded a double workout today. I'll have to start looking for some crappy house cleaning, or something to put me under the line.

1) Your a sick puppy. (I mean that in a good way )
2) That's outstanding
3) That's the spirit!
4) I'm inspired to do so.

I like y'alls idea to track calories on lose it. I've been suprised I haven't lost more weight since I've been training (only 3 pounds so far). I think I'll try tracking calories as well. The lose it app looks pretty good. I've never tracked food intake before. Sure I'll be shocked what I actually consume!
The app is showin 1,858 calories a day. Thats going to suck!!!!

On another note, I finished my second brick yesterday. Same route as before. My times were essentially the same (+ 44 sec.). And, as before, I had cramping issues. I felt that I was better hydrated this time and my bike ride was MUCH better. Time was actually 30 sec. slower but it was much easier on the legs. Calves cramped immediatly when I transitioned to my run and had a hamstring start to cramp at about mile 2 of the run. I had to stop and stretch 4 times. Race is next Saturday. I hope I don't have the same problems!

Well, off to the pool later this morning. Last chance for a good, strong swim workout. Have a great day everyone!

You are a machine. Not only because you crushed a guy on a moped but because of your hill repeats. I love hill intervals as they remind me high school when I did cross country.

As far as the hops go - it may take you a bit longer to get enough to make an entire batch. A few friends of mine planted their own vines and while they got some the next year, it wasn't until year number 3 that they had enough for a 5 gallon batch. I guess it really depends on how long your vines are. But I wish you luck. There are few things I enjoy more than brewing with fresh hops and Centennial Hops are one of my favorites, Might have to have a road trip to Illinois...

Love the idea of treating a workout like you are training for Kona. Be sure to channel the Al Trautwig dialogue

Bill - I'd love it if you'd friend me on Loseit - my email is [email protected]. I think calorie counting is key to long term weight weight loss and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what you can still eat (and more importantly drink) and manage to stay under your limit. For me - the key has been to limit over eating (I could honestly start my on Overeaters Anonymous when I get off track) by counting my calories. Getting in a good workout will give you even more calories to play around with. You could use those (as I did last night) for some tasty adult beverages.

As far as the bricks go - switching from the bike to the run is brutal on everyone. Trust me - you are not alone. The fact that you are getting cramps midway through the sun though could be more than just transition issues. You're on the right track to drink more water but you might also try adding bananas and other foods/beverages that contain potassium and see if that helps.

Bill, I'm in the same boat. I usually lose weight unhealthily, then put it right back on again. One of the benes of tracking I see is that it allows me to stay consistent, and go for the long haul, discipline.
on a brighter note, you gain callories with every workout you enter, so that's encouraging as well.

I had a great ride this evening. It would not have happened without the help of my wife who finished cooking dinner, set the table and washed the dishes which gave me the time to get it done. If you haven't thanked your spouse recently - give some thought to doing so because where would we be without them?

OK - back to the ride... It was great to just be outside again - exercising with no back pain. It gave me hope that I'll be able to get in enough training to make that HIM happen in September. One last brag - I hit the 3,000 miles biked mark during my ride today. To celebrate, my uncle handed me a cold corona with a lime when I came home. Damn, it was tasty!

So glad to see so many of you on lose it. I was saying to Heidi that now I've got to start eating better... It's like eating in a fish tank which is what I need from time to time.

Happy 4th everyone!

Spouses are everything.

Nice riding. Ramping up for HIM is awesome. You'll do great.

On a side note, I hit the 30 mile mark on my wife's mountain bike last week. guess I got some catching up to do.

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope everyone gets out early before you light your grills, chill your beers and fire off a few bottle rockets make sure to get in a good workout. Remember - the more calories you burn - the more beer you can drink.

Speaking of beer.... Before you reach into that cooler today be sure to check this out. It's a ranking of the top 36 cheap American beers.

My fav one listed:
Rolling Rock. Smells like three fat guys in a two-man tent.

With a description like that maybe Rolling Rock should be the penalty beer instead

He is much braver than I am for tackling that list.

Confession...I'v had many of those! I can so relate to #19, Busch. When my wife and I were about as broke as we could be, surviving on one paycheck, I began buying Natural Light because thats all I could afford. Thank goodness those days are behind us!

Bike ride this morning. 24 Miles and just over 1,000 calories burned. Think I'll have a few today! Have a great 4th everyone!

Great news about the back! Your spot-on about the spouses. Mine is great about letting me disappear for a couple of hours to get a bike ride in. Gotta do a better job thanking her! Good luck meeting your HIM goal!

Holy crap am I in trouble... We are making the transition to one pay check and I bought my first busweiser in years with the goal of saving some money. However, I can make beer for about 15 bucks a case. Phew. Crisis over

Congrats on the great bike ride! You are gonna crush that tri next week. What will you be having as a reward?

I got my run and swim in before lunch. It was my long run of the week and I tried so hard to go nice and slow. But I couldn't help myself towards the end. As I turned home on the last leg - a song came on that was about 4:15 in length. I started to wonder if I could make it home before the song ended. I knew it was going to be close and so I really pushed it hard. Damn - it felt SO GOOD! And I'm proud to say that I made it with 15 seconds to spare. But this is something I need to stop before I injure myself again.

I burned about 600 calories. That's good enough for me to enjoy 3 gin and tonics.

Enjoy everyone!
