Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread MrsUSMC - 2007-10-18 12:31 PM Get healthy (seem to be faltering a bit on that) I would argue with you on the "get healthy" part. You are still losing weight and that's a big part of getting healthy. Just because you aren't able to train the way you would like right now doesn't negate that fact. Run 5K in November (that's not going to happen, thank you heel) I was really looking forward to doing this race together. Will you still get up at stupid o'clock to come out and cheer me on? I'm not giving up. It's really NOT in my nature. Having known you as long as I have, I can totally vouch for you on this one. You are one of the strongest and most determined women I know. You're definitely one of my heros and I'm proud to call you best friend! |

Y'know ... yeah, you are going to "do" the race ... in the end, you'll be covering the same distance as everybody else! Go, MrsUSMC!!! There's a really inspirational book called "Walking Outside the Box" by Susan Reynolds. I think you'd like it. Check it out, anyway: http://www.journeyheretothere.com/walking_outside_the_box.htm |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Terri, San Diego tri club? I think Kevin Koskella from www.triswimcoach.com is based...He is AWESOME, I have a lot of his material and it gets used when Bret isn't around...those workouts are stinking HARD. If you get to work with him your swim will be incredible! You ARE getting healthier, it is just a long process but much safer done slowly |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread MrsUSMC - 2007-10-18 3:31 PM My goals: Lose weight (doing that) Get healthy (seem to be faltering a bit on that) Run 5K in November (that's not going to happen, thank you heel) No firm plans for after November, until April (Carlsbad 5000) except to volunteer for Ironman California For now, my first tri is a super sprint, in May, I think? Hi Terri, Hope you don't mind a post from a non-team member. (Wait, I'm an honorary member now, aren't I?) OK, so you have some setbacks and issues. But you ARE moving in the "right direction", right? Losing weight, getting healthy - although maybe not as quickly as you'd like - those are all very positive things! As for the 5K in November, if you can't run it - well, can you walk it? (I'm not sure what's wrong with your heel. I only sneak in here every now and then when things are slow on the Apples team.) And even if you walk the entire 5k, well that's an accomplishment, too, right? It may just be slower than you would have liked. And you have a masters swim program there! Wow, I am jealous. You could live where I live. I consider myself fortunate to have found a pool. But there's definitely no Masters programs, or Tri Clubs here.... So even if you can't get there every day, at least there ARE others around who have goals similar to yours. If you can't get there for a swim practice with the Masters group, maybe they could email you the workout, and you can do it after work? Then, you could report your progress back to them, etc. It might not be the ideal situation, but it might work. Would a change in your routine be helpful? Maybe do some different drills or exercises to vary things? What if you called the San Diego Tri Club, and asked if there are any members who live near you? Maybe you could get together with them to train, even though you won't attend a meeting for awhile yet. And yes, I'm glad to hear that you're not giving up. Dee |

Will you still get up at stupid o'clock to come out and cheer me on? LOL! Why ARE these things always so EARLY, anyway? I am just NOT a morning person to begin with. Why would I want to wake up while it's still dark? (After all, I am usually on BT.com until 3 AM. So I need to sleep in during the weekend.) Dee |

Howdy and nice to see you chiming in! You still doing Santa Clarita? Helps to keep the legs loose ... We have a few peeps just under 50%, but also an injury that really put lastcall2003 back. However, everybody's pulling and catching up, so we are definitely NOT gonna lose this challenge and we ARE gonna see a lot of hot legs of the losing teams. Have a spectacular weekend! |

Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread I have run 11 days this month already -- 12 runs that account for about 20% of my total running for this entire year, including my longest runs ever (and still 2 more longer ones to come before the end of the month). I actually ran for 2 hours last weekend without walking (and then had to walk another 45 minutes to get from the end of the run back up that huge mountain to my house) -- considering a few months ago I couldn't run for more than 10 minutes without having to stop, I can hardly believe it! If I can do it, anyone can! (plus, my legs look GREAT!) Go team go! |

I was able to get in a bit on the eliptical and some walking, so I've made progress toward the goal. Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Glad you're feeling a little bit better, Beth! I made yummy, yummy dessert for a thing at church tomorrow night - oatmeal butterscotch blondies. I took two recipes and combined them and they're delicious. Original recipe was oatmeal brownies - they have a 'crust' that's oatmeal, flour, brown sugar and butter. Then you make brownies from scratch and pour that on top and then sprinkle more of the oatmeal combo over the top - they're SINFULLY good. So I thought they'd be good with a blondie center - and then I stirred in half a bag of butterscotch chips. OMG - they're ridiculous...and I can't eat any of them cuz they're not for me But I did sample one for breakfast today, just to make sure they're palatable... :-P I know that's torturous, but I'm sitting here and it's Friday and my hamstrings are sore (and it takes A LOT for my hammies to get sore!) and dreaming of ooey-gooey caramelly butterscotch blondies... |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread I'm not sure what my day holds for getting in any kind of running time. I'm leaving in a couple of hours to head up to Modesto for the weekend. I only need another 1.7 miles to reach my goal for the challenge. I'm definitely planning to knock that out at some point this weekend. I'm taking my laptop with me, so I'll still be peeking in from time to time. I'm having a brain cloud at the moment. Is anyone besides Yanti racing this weekend? I'll be cheering you guys on from Modesto. |
