Ok.  As much as I hate Shrek, this is a bit much.

Angry mob descends on Rooney home chanting death threats.

That's unbelievable. I can't believe these nutjobs think this kind of thing would actually make him want to stay.

Dumb...pissed off his fans and now does a U-turn....not sure what the motivation was..maybe Money...since he has no real intellect and that may be his only source of self esteem.

What a knob

Give the man a cigar.  Rumor has it that they offered £150,000 a week and he wanted £200,000 a week.  I'm willing to wager they accepted or he reduced a little and they came to a common ground.

Would be interesting to see if his performance improves any now that he has resigned.

Twelman retires after 2 years from concussion.

Stinks for him.  Good player.  Unfortunate accident.  Sounds as if he will live with it for the rest of his life.

Didn't see this till today.  I'm pulling for LFC against Napoli.  Europa, not CL.

Hey Crowny, thanks for bumping the thread. I was all excited for the MLS playoffs, but then Seattle was 2 and out and not something I wanted to talk about

At least now there's a decent race for the EPL worth following.

At least with Seattle, they have something to look forward to for the next couple of years.  My Fire look like they are going to be rebuilding for quite a while.

As for the EPL, ugh.  Liverpool can't decide whether to show up to games.  Beat Chelsea, then draw Wigan then lose to Stoke.  STOKE!!!! Ugh.  Pardon me while I go puke.  Again.

Having been to the stoke city ground, I warn you it is a fortress and they are a good team.

Yes, incredible...

Qatar...no alcohol and temperatures in the 105-110 range at that time....hard to fathom this decision..#113 in the world rankings and best they have done is quarter finals in the Asia cup..now they get to play for free at the WC....I foresee a slew of "mercenary" Qatar citizens in the next few years....

Russia..he who has the gold makes the rules...the BBC did an expose on the FIFA committee a week or so ago, exposing corruption and the fact that the vote can be bought..probably the reason England finished 4th out of 4 bids...and Russia #1

I think the driving motivation on the last few choices is also Blatter's ego....he wants to leave his legacy as the man who took the WC and football all over the world..Asia was the missing piece since SA was 2010....egomaniac and no one to stop him..

the last 4 WC's choices have been dodgy at best and I have no desire to go to any of these places

The entire thing has been marred by controversy and the final decision is just a continuation of it all.  It is a farce and at the top of it is Blatter's ego.

It is a joke.

Had the day off today and caught the Liverpool/Villa game. Looks like there might be some hope for your boys, Crowny. 3-nil win with no Torres, Gerrard, or Carragher and they're climbing up the table. Interesting side-note, Torres missed the game for the expected birth of his child.

Also, Reina had a milestone--100 clean sheets.

Hope that wasn't a spoiler for you Crowny

Heh.  Nah.  I was following it online.  And I wouldn't be TOO happy about the win. Afterall, it was ONLY West Ham.

Matches canceled this weekend due to now. I seem to remember this happening last year.  They claim it was more for the fans safety in getting to the match and that the pitch was actually in playable condition.

Disappointing.  I was really looking forward to the matches this weekend.
