That stuff is like liquid crack. I thought about it the last 5 miles. Mmmmm...salted caramel hot chocolate. I might have to stop at Starbucks on my way to the grocery. I dont understand the salted thing... guess its something we dont do here... Salt and chocolate is an incredible combination. When I was in Madison for the Ironman I would go to this bakery every day and get this dark chocolate cookie with sea salt on top. Seriously the best thing I've ever had. And you wouldn't tell me???? *edit* Slipped in under the radar there with a TOPpage! Edited by 1stTimeTri 2008-10-19 9:36 PM |

Pace was amazing, but I'm in a world of hurt. I had a nasty stomach cramp from 15-20 that was hard to fight through. But it's done and now it's taper time! Great job! Thanks Phil. It was a big hurdle for me to get over and I feel pretty good about it. Now I'm at 70% of goal as well! |

You feeling recovered from the race? Would you beleive Im still sore? I think Travis is going to recover quicker from his Marathon... lol... Both ankles, hamstrings, outside of both shins... but here is the GOOD news... my knees are just fine... So if I can sort out that outside of the shins thing (which was the issue during the race) I might actually be ok in the future... Going to head to the gym later... have an easy spin and STRETCH... Shin thing is most likely the thin muscles on the front of your legs complaining from getting more exercise then they are being used to. It happens when I take to much time off from running and then go and push myself hard to get back into it. Its not my shin as such... its the outside of my leg... right up the side from right behind the ankle bone... along the line between shin and calf I guess? A few years ago I saw the physio for it and I know he gave me accupuncture... Not sure if i need to go back down that route or not... |

It is not as heavy. Then I had Peanut Butter Ice Cream with mixed Nuts in it from Maggie Moos. And now it is time to chase all that down with another beer. Blue Moon isn't too bad. It's mellow. |

(I'm still really glad you did this race...sorry you're in pain, but glad you raced again)QueenZipp - 2008-10-20 12:59 PM Hi Cat! You feeling recovered from the race? Would you beleive Im still sore? So if I can sort out that outside of the shins thing (which was the issue during the race) I might actually be ok in the future... Going to head to the gym later... have an easy spin and STRETCH... haha Im all good... in fact the worst bit is the blister on my foot Closely followed by shin thing and ankle... the muscular pain I can handle just fine because i know what that is so its a good kind of pain... I remember what this feels like... although I feel a bit like and old woman Ankles, shins and blisters... the rest will be just fine! (Well until I see the trainer on Thursday but thats a whole other thing)
I want to start getting outside now the weather is decent for walk/run things but this morning I got out of bed and thought maybe i should give my body another couple of days... I may be unfit but Im not stupid! Time i started following all the good advice I give to other people I think.... In my purrfect world Id get 4-5 races this season so I need to be very good and conservative between now and early 2009 so Im ready to go! I can't recommend compression socks enough. If you're embarrassed to run in them, then get the recovery socks and wear them the night before and the night of/after your race. You will see a big difference! I run in them, I don't care what I look like. And I'm compressing right now Congrats again! Take all the time you need to rest and recover. You should be incredibly proud Hmm Ive been checking out Skins but Im a bit frustrated as they come in sealed bozes and I really need to try something like that on before i committ to purchasing I think... I was thinking a full leg thing... but maybe socks are a better option... Dont you get HOT running in them? |

My neighbor just told me about a Pumpkin Ale that she wants to look for. She had it in Illinois just last week and gave me the name. I don't have with me at the moment. I have to check the liquor stores that carry most imports and micro-brews and may find it. |

They definitely generate a little heat, but I did two blazing hot races in them and was fine. I run in the 2XU compression guards mostly and love them. You can see them in my albums. They are great. Today I ran in the Sugoi R&R socks and they were good, but different. The jury is still out. I wear the 2XU recovery socks before and after and love them! |
