OK, so I smell a goal for next month coming on...

Maybe two goals :-)

Thanks for the good advice, Sylvain.  Now I'm kind of wondering why my physical therapist had me doing an equal amount of exercises on each leg.  I liked the approach of one until you're tired and then both.  They both probably need more strength.

They idea here is one leg is in maintenance while the other is strenght mode. Do this twice a week and you should see the difference in two or three weeks. If you're not doing any weight workouts for your legs at this time I would take 72 hours (minimum) rest between workouts, do for two weeks, then one week maintenance for both legs, then do another two or three weeks. Not knowing the extent of your injury I don't know if you'll ever be 100% even on both legs but this should help get it closer.

Tomorrow is another double workout day.  Single long swim and a 55 minute run.  If I don't get that Bathroom Door Painted I might not be doing anything or gett'in anything. Wink

Subject: Experior's Group - February Goals (Home Stretch)
One week to go in Feb.  I put in the ones I've received and blanked out those I haven't.  I'll update again when I get another clump of results.   Congrats to Scout who hit his goal weight and a yay to Mike and Mark who seem to be back in the swing of things (and an edited yay to Phil who put in 9+ hours last week and Sylvain for hitting his goal of losing 5 lbs).

I had a good week going until I got sick which frankly, really p*ed me off.  We're having the best weather of the winter, it's the weekend, I'm finally not traveling and I feel like you know what.  However, I went ahead and ran yesterday which in retrospect might not have been such a hot idea.  On the other hand, my graph is trending in the right direction for a change.  Hope I'm feeling well enough to work out tomorrow... since it is Monday and supposed to be a cold rain, no doubt I'll be better ;-

Let's end February with a good push, folks!

Things are tough here, despite the great weather.  I managed to get out today for a short run and even shorter swim, but my bike had to get nixed because of various duties.  (I'm taking a break from work to post this...)

I hope you're all doing better than I am...

Let's see:

By this time in Feb, according to my 'goal', I was supposed to have done 9 core workouts.  Put me down for 7.

As for S/B/R (as measured in 'IMs' a la Scout), I guess I'm currently at:  7 and change/2 and change/nearly 3.

I'll try to catch up with everyone tomorrow.  Right now, I'm trying to catch up with work!

Day off today; nothing happening.  May try to get my Core Workout in at home this evening which has been absent from my life for the past two weeks.

Weather must be geting nicer. Posts going way down. 3 mile recovery run followed by a light spinning class. Can any spinning class be called light? Everyone send positive thoughts my way regarding my weight. I'M STUCK! I want/need to be 225 for half marathon on April 11th.!

Was nice afternoon and got a 34 minutes recovery run outside at lunch. Started snowing here at about 3pm EST and most snow we've had since first snowfall, I can't remember when that was might of been in early December... Just not normal here. Also got a core in while watching womens hockey (Canada/Finland), looks to be the norm Canada-USA final. Last night mens USA team outplayed Canada.

I've been listening to "Great Big Sea" while hamstering recently.  A traditional-style band from Newfoundland.  Don't ask me why, but choruses of seafaring songs seems to help me slog through intervals :-)  Not the usual spinning class stuff though.

What's on yours?

My wife is a HUGE goal setter. I have pictures all over the bathroom of my wife's head stuck on a supermodels body. That's her goal. Maybe I need to print out the picture of the wetsuit guy that's always on the right of the page, cut his head off, cut out a picture of my head and glue it on top! Yah, that's the ticket. I need a goal poster. Too bad I don't know how to use PhotoShop.

Phil, when I get stuck on weight I usually have to do something to shock my system out of complacency.  Like do a different kind of exercise, change intensity level, add in a lot of a new (healthy) food or cut something from my diet altogether.  It might just last for a few days to a week just to feel a bit different and get my metabolism moving again.

turtle, I'm pretty new to the MP3 player myself.  Been helping my run a lot though, especially since I got the Nike plus system that plugs in to the iPod.  When running I like stuff that's hard and aggressive.  Heavy rock/punk/metal stuff like Torche, the Sword, Mastodon, Melvins Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, the Dirtbombs.  Then throw in some hard hip-hop like WuTang, Doom, Eric B & Rakim.  Mot everyone's cup of tea but it gets me psyched up.

Sending positive weight loss vibes your way Phil.  I'd begin by tracking everything you eat.  Even go back to basics such as measuring what you eat if you need to.  You'd be surprised at how much you are adding in extra.  Also be sure to address the BLT's (Extra Bite, Licks and Tastes).

Ok I lied.  It was too nice of weather today to pass up a Bike Ride.  I have a 1.5 hr ride tomorrow so I went ahead and got the ride in this evening; 15 min. short due to night fall.  Tomorrow it is suppose to rain so I took advantage of the provided day.

Thanks for everyone's "skinny thoughts" and suggestions. I think my pants are looser this mornining. Surprised Yes, I really need to buckle down and watch everything that goes into my mouth. With the increase in training I think I may be snacking to much and counting it as a recovery meal. Maybe my new found favorite energy food the Skittle is not such a good energy food. As for the workouts besides my cardio I really need to add some weights. I just need to gut it up and do it.

Workout today. The only thing consistent about my workout times is they are inconsistent. I try to workout a schedule and something always comes up to change it. I am surrendering to the fact that I just need to get the work in during the slices of time that are available. That being said, I had to get up at 4:30 this morning to get 6 mile run in. Hope to squeeze in mile swim after work

Well Michael I did 1650 meter straight today to complete my 0 to 1 mile program. I finished with a bang, I reduce my 25m lap by two strokes now at 16. Well most of the workout was at 16 strokes, on occasion I hit 17 when not paying attention or trying to remember what lap number I was at. Now that I have some swim endurance I can start adding some speed drills to those 16 strokes. My new goal is to break 2 min/100m avg over 1000m by end of March. Bring it on!

Good night
Sylvain

Checking in for the last time before I split for Mexico. Having a good week so far and a good comeback from two kinda lousy training weeks where I didn't have so much time or flexibility. That interval training advice from a few weeks ago has been really helpful lately as I've tried to ratchet up the intensity. Now I'm feeling really bummed that I'm not doing that oli in 2 weeks since I'm feeling like my fitness is coming back.

No swimming lately but I hope to get out in the ocean this week-end with the promise of warmer and calmer water down South.

Have a great time in Mexico.  I envy you.  Kind of nice feeling to get your MOJO back isn't it.  I kind of feel the same in feeling more control over my workouts the end of this last week and this week.  It is nice to have options of different ways to get workouts in if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Nice improvement!!  I am working on getting my 100 split time down as well.  I have generally been in the 1.44 - 1.48 range for some time.  I had a 600 yd single swim as a portion of my workout this morning so I pushed it harder than I generally do but not where I became labored.  Went a little fast on the 1st 100 (1.36 split) and then settled in to 1.39 - 1.42 range for the last 500 yds.  Can feel it in my shoulders.  I think I need to begin training faster to get faster in terms of increasing what it means for me to use a moderate pace.; I think I have been lax in this area.  Do they have a Pace Calculator for Swimming like they do in Running to figure different training paces depending on what kind of workout you want to do?

I think I should try to figure out what the difference is in my stroke count between my 1.44- 1.48 pace vs. my 1.39 pace just to get an idea.  More? or Less?
