Doesn't it sound like fun though   This year was not that cold I guess so it was a lot more hike/bike!

I don't know....  Hiking, biking, camping in the snow causes apprehension for me, probably because I have very little experience with it.

I agree.  I would like to do it, but somehow I don't ever see it coming together

Was thinking about that western trip you had talked about last year yesterday.
Had to bring my kiddo to Green River UT to trade him off to my sister.
Definitely think that HWY 89 is the way to go on that one... the traffic on Hwy 6 is SO much heavier than I remember it being.

This was from last Saturday.  This was my oldests son's first race.  The race included a 1 mile trail run and 1.5 mile singletrack loop.  He finished 2/14 overall with a time of 18:32.  As you can see, I'm very pround.  Hopefully, tiathlons are in the near future.

THAT is AWESOME!!!
We're still having problems getting my 6 yo to ride on a bike period

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-11 6:09 AM Alright in 2 years I am doing this race (lol) and that will score me so many points in 1 week that I won't have to workout the rest of the winter.

BTW - got my morning commute in Teamies.

If you finish that race, you are the MAN!  I'm partial to my fingers and toes, so I think I'll take a pass on that madness.

I think I'd prefer more bike than hike... hiking means having to carry your bike through bogs.  The water in those bogs are cold in summer, can't imagine it in the winter.  Nope, I'd prefer it to be colder and solid ground than warm and slushy (wet).
I wonder if Grabbers is a corporate sponsor for that

Heather - we are doing the Underground Railroad.  We are putting together a website and stuff so when that happens I will send you the link.  My buddy wanted to link it with a cause instead of just riding out West so we went this route - plus it passes right through our home town after 1700 miles

Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that.
But it's not like this is going to be your last year of riding

Human slave trafficking so we decided that the Underground Railroad and what it was for originally would be the perfect place to ride.

And no I doubt this will be the last ride of my life - I sure as heck hope not

It's hard to believe that in this day and age, that type of activity still happens.   And it surely does not get the attention like drug trafficking does (though I've heard that the two are often hand in hand)

Make sure you post the link on your sig line once the site is up.  I often notice peoples websites in their sig lines and usually check it out.

I'm not sure about currently, but The Underground Railroad was an informal network of secret routes and safe houses used by 19th century black slaves in the United States to escape to free states and Canada with the aid of abolitionists who were sympathetic to their cause (Wikipedia).

I got another ART session this morning, then hopefully a trail run before the rain hits.  I'm going to try to squeeze in another swim this afternoon too.

I don't mean to keep complaining about the rain, but the soil around here is very clayish.  So, once it gets wet, the trails are unusable for a few days.

I want to thank you all for your concern and support.  My father is doing poorly, but could still be around for several weeks. With the rate of decline over the last week suggests that he most likely will go sooner than that.

I am helping my mom clean house today.  She is anticipating a steady stream of visitors coming to visit/say goodbye.  Two ministers from our church are coming this afternoon.

I would like to go to the gym at some point.  I didn't have the motivation to go out yesterday, even though I know that I will feel better after some exercise.

OK, back to housecleaning for me.

tri808 - 2010-03-12 3:03 AM Just remembered I have to wake up early tomorrow to run before work.  I'm giving blood right before lunch.

I read this and it is only 5 hours later than when you posted it - too funny.  You need to go to bed early if you want to wake up early

Are you in Hawaii?  I think you are if I remember correctly?

Yeah...I was out by 10:30...woke up at around 6:00...which is early for me on weekdays.  I'm normally up by 5am on weekends though.

I'll get up early to train...but I won't get up early to work...=)

Got my run in this morning...a nice 6.5 miles

I forgot to hydrate yesterday though...so I'm hoping it won't take too much out of me when I give blood in a couple hours.  I'm trying to down as much H20 as I can now.

Anyone have any suggestions to help with the boredom while swimming?

H2O audio interval.  Music helps me in the pool, especially when doing longer distance sets.  Masters class helps too.  It motivates me to swim with other people.  Finally, try to mix it up with some OWS if possible.  Just my two cents.

I wish I could go to masters but there is no childcare at the pool that has masters.  My husband goes to work early so he can't watch the baby.  We have a great lagoon for OWS but, again, I have to coordinate childcare.  For now, I have very limited times that I can go to the pool where there is childcare during lap times.

H2O audio interval????  Is this like Podrunner?  Or did you just put your own stuff on one of those waterproof jobbies?

http://www.h2oaudio.com/waterproof_headphone_system.php

The interval system allows you to put an IPOD shuffle into the water proof case.  The case attaches to your goggle straps.  System works well.  I have an older case that works with the older generation shuffles.

I LIKE this!!!!!  Thank you!!!!

Well... did my ART session this morning.  Trail run cancelled as it started to rain earlier than planned.  Hmmm, go figure, the forecast was wrong.  Looking for a break to at least run on the pavement.

just finished giving blood.  I could tell that I didn't drink as much water as I should have yesterday.  Felt a little woozy when I got off the cot.

Anyway...I'll be rehydrating throughout the rest of the day.

Hopefully by tomorrow morning (19 hours from now for me) I'll be good to go for my group ride.  I won't push the pace, but I just hope I don't pass out on the climbs.
