billsorg - 2010-04-08 6:44 AM Good morning, A-team!
I (reluctantly) got a trainer ride in this morning.  My 7yo daughter had a nightmare and came in bed with us at 5:20... about 10 min before my alarm was to go off.  So I turned off the alarm and thought, why not just sleep in today?  But then my little wiggly-worm daughter kept kicking me as I'm trying to talk myself out of working out.  But her Pele'-sleep style eventually KICKED me out of bed and I got a 45 min trainer ride in.

My 10yo daughter's first softball game was fun.  They lost 7-2, but my daughter was 2-for-2 and had an RBI.  I'm sure an "official scorer" would have ruled them both errors, but who's counting... she's batting 1.000!  SUPERSTAR!  We both had a great time and it should be a fun season.

Everyone have a great day!!!

Congrats to the slugger!

Another crappy night of swimming for me too.  I couldn't fall asleep until 1:30am, then was joined by my two oldest boys throughout the evening, and woken up by my alarm clock at 4:15 to go to work.  Boy, I'm energetic right now! <sarcasm>

TElenor - 2010-04-06 10:27 AM Hi A-Teamers!  I just wanted to say that I had a really great swim in the pool this morning!  I did my first interval workout (not pushing hard enough apparently, since I didn't feel like puking Smile), 8x100 with warmup, drills, and a leisurely cooldown.  My fastest 100 clocked in at 1:24, and I managed to keep the other 7 no slower than 1:30!  I'm pretty happy about that, especially since I'm still getting into swimming shape.  I haven't figured out what my goal should be down the road, but now I at least have something to work from.

On a completely different note, I've been pondering something that I thought I might as well throw out to all of you.  As you may have guessed from my puny post-count, I'm very new to BT and to triathlons in general.  I've since come to wonder; do most of you more experienced folks do double workouts in a day?  I see a lot of "I swam this morning, getting on the trainer this afternoon..." and the such.  It makes sense to double up in a day, I think, but I've been wondering how to structure it.  Double up one or two days a week, or more?  Hard workout in the morning, easy in the afternoon?  Two relatively easy workouts?  One long, one short?  Just curious what my fellow teammates are up to...

In my plan I have only 1 "brick" day...a long bike with short run after. But I will throw in a few 2 a days depending on the weather and how I feel, I am also a fitness instructor and will have a few classes that I teach on the same day also....I just make sure they are not 2 hard efforts on the same day.

brick94513 - 2010-04-05 2:23 PM Well I was planning on a road ride this morning, but my wife left my tights in the washer!  Errrrrr....  So, changed the plan and went for a little run.  Pace was pretty pedestrian.  My legs are still sore from running stairs three days ago.

Planning on taking the boys to the movies later, baseball practice, then hopefully to the pool for my first swim of the month.

come on now...at least she washed them and didn't put them in the dryer! WinkI always have to look at the positives when it comes to laundry! Hubby tries to help....I went through so many clothes that he either shrank or dyed a different color! BUT he tried! He is so much better and now nothing of mine goes in the dryer!

I knew one of the ladies would stick up for her!

Hey now! I was actually giving my hubby a compliment in that I was just happy that he helped! So you should feel the same about your wife!!!Tongue out

kimk - 2010-04-06 4:40 AM Again I am up early when I don't have to be! What is this? No next week when the kids are back at school I won't be able to drag my arse out of bed! It is storming pretty good here...lots of lightning,  rain, rain go away because Kim has a run to do today! I was not able to ride to work yesterday like I wanted to but I did get a swim in. I'll get a trainer ride in today and hoping for a run! Then speaking of baseball...I am going to the game tonight with some friends!
Have a good day A TEAM!

About time we gave you your weather back.  Nice, sunny skies here in California.

Please give me the sunshine back!!! You guys get it all the time....it's about time you learn to share!

mchally - 2010-04-05 3:50 PM Just finished a 22 minute run (a bit over 2 miles) at school.  Running on Asphalt sucks.  I felt ok while I was doing it, but I am feeling slight twinges in my shins now.  I probably should have mixed in a little more walking.

Howdy Mel - sorry about the Asphalt but it is better than concrete

Concrete is definately the worst, especially concrete with slight grade for drainage!  HORRIBLE.  For my street runs, I try to stay off the sidewalks and run on the asphalt or dirt next to concrete if possible.

I'm with you on this....but this is usually how I have to run(sidwalks for shorter runs) for my long run if I don't want to do the same loop over and over! I usually run through the parkways, so I will run against traffic so I "even" out my hips on the way back!

I've found that if I don't make an effort to "even out," my knee on one side will start to bug me. I wish there were more trails close by. I really enjoy trail running and I don't have to worry about "evening out" part way through the run. We're a couple of months away from having any open trails though.  We just got another snow storm come blowing through last night. Kind of strange we're getting so much snow now, especially since we had a very mild winter.

Please keep the snow to yourself! We missed the snow last night...was very happy to wake up to green grass!

Well as you can tell and this is all joking (based on another thread reference!) - I have almost 10K posts so I know a lot (j/k) but I break mine up just for recovery purposes.  It mostly falls to a time issue.  If you have time to do a 2 a day then it is better - just make sure you eat and recover properly!

Sorry this is butchered - I actually had to a little work and I am rushing this now.

When I go back to training for tri's instead of my bike race - I will run/swim in the morning and then ride in the night.  I do swim/run together because I can do them both at the Y and it is quieter in the morning than afternoons when I would get there!
Bill, You work?!!  I had no Idea!

I was thinking the same thing...but kept my mouth shut for once! Thanks for opening it Mel!

It has my replacement rear derailleur hanger and I could use it for Saturday!

Thanks in advance!!!!

You ask why I don't just keep it on the bike where it goes??????

I don't know!  That would be too simple

Please help a lost soul!!!!

You lost your soul too?  Losing your hanger would be bad enough.

pdbman - 2010-04-06 12:18 PM Crazy night at the pool last night.  Some lady was "teaching" some kids to swim in the laps lane. Basically taking up space holding on to kick boards. "Patience. Open plunge closes soon and it will be just lap swimmers." Then I look at the water and its cloudy. What's up with that?  Jump in and the water feels a little cooler but I brush it off to me being cold because of the snow storm. I start swimming and get about a third of the way when I hit this wall of warm water. That's strange. I guess they were putting fresh water into the pool and the way the "current" is in the pool, it creates a wall of warm water just before you get to the area where the water is coming in. Not too bad going from cold to warm but if I wasn't paying attention it would take my breath away when I would go from the warm water to the sudden cold. Plus for the first ten minutes until they cleared the pool I had to actually change lanes back and forth as people would keep drifting around. Some life guards are pretty good at keeping the lanes clear for lap swimmers, others are just too timid to say anything.

Paul you still don't know what makes the water warm???

I agree, for the most part, that rain sucks. However, I love a good storm! I used to sit outside and watch them but it's been a long time since I have lived in an area that has really good thunder and lightning storms ~ talk about some good sleeping weather.

Love camping with the storms...rain on the camper is soooo soothing!

Shoeless - 2010-04-06 3:03 PM I am very excited, too! I just finished building a race entry form at signmeup.com for our improved local triathlon. It was really fun. I'm sure I'll need to do some tweaking, but it was pretty easy so far. By the end of July I hope to hand over this RD position to someone else, but for now I'm doing all the work.

hmmmm may have to get some info from you! I am trying to get a local tri going from our Y here...
